- 125g butter shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla essence shopping list
- 3/4 cup (150g firmly packed brown sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 2 cups semolina(320g) shopping list
- 1tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda shopping list
- 3/4 cups of lite sour cream shopping list
- 1/2 cup roasted hazelnuts shopping list
- syrup shopping list
- 21/2 cups of sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups of water shopping list
- and juice of half a lemon shopping list
How to make it
- beat butter,sugar and essence together in a medium mixing bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well between additions.
- stir in combined sifted semolina, baking powder and baking soda fold in sour cream
- spread mixture evenly into greased 20x 30 cm lamington pan top with nuts. bake in moderate oven for about 30 minutes
- to make syrup combine sugar and water in medium pan stir over low heat without boiling until sugar is dissolved. stir in juice simmer uncovered without stirring for about 7 minutes or until slightly thickened (do not allow syrup to change color )
- pour hot syrup over hot cake leave in pan until syrup has absorbed all syrup then serve warm or cold.
