Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cup cake flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 2 teaspoons baking powder shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking soda shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoon buttermilk shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- pecan Frosting: shopping list
- 1/3 cup butter-no substitutes shopping list
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla shopping list
- 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk shopping list
- 4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease and flour two 9" round cake pans.
- Combine first nine ingredients in a large mixing bowl and beat for 30 seconds with an electric mixer on low speed and then for 3 minutes on high speed. Scrape down bowl constantly.
- Pour batter into prepared pans.
- Bake 30-35 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool layers in pans for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire racks.
- Cool completely.
- Frosting:
- Heat butter in medium saucepan over low heat until melted.
- Stir in pecans. Cook until butter is light brown(about 2 minutes).
- Remove from heat. Cool.
- Add vanilla and milk.
- Slowly add sugar and beat until frosting is spreadable.
- Add additional milk if necessary.
- Frost cake.
