How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease and flour two 9" round cake pans.
  • Combine first nine ingredients in a large mixing bowl and beat for 30 seconds with an electric mixer on low speed and then for 3 minutes on high speed. Scrape down bowl constantly.
  • Pour batter into prepared pans.
  • Bake 30-35 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool layers in pans for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire racks.
  • Cool completely.
  • Frosting:
  • Heat butter in medium saucepan over low heat until melted.
  • Stir in pecans. Cook until butter is light brown(about 2 minutes).
  • Remove from heat. Cool.
  • Add vanilla and milk.
  • Slowly add sugar and beat until frosting is spreadable.
  • Add additional milk if necessary.
  • Frost cake.
