Spaghetti And Meatballs

- SAUCE: shopping list
- 1 large sweet yellow onion shopping list
- 5 large cloves garlic shopping list
- 1 28 oz can organic crushed tomatoes with basil shopping list
- 1 28 oz can organic diced tomatoes shopping list
- 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano shopping list
- 1 6 oz can tomato paste shopping list
- 6 large fresh basil leaves shopping list
- 1/2 tsp dried parsley shopping list
- 1 tsp dried oregano shopping list
- 1 tsp dried basil shopping list
- dash of thyme shopping list
- dash of rosemary (can be omitted) shopping list
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder shopping list
- couple dashes sea salt shopping list
- couple dashes fresh cracked pepper shopping list
- 2 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 8 oz packages button mushrooms shopping list
- 15 baby carrots shopping list
- olive oil for sautéing shopping list
- MEATBALLS: shopping list
- 1 lb lean ground beef shopping list
- 1 package hot lean Italian turkey sausage (19.5 oz I believe) shopping list
- 3 large cloves of garlic shopping list
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder shopping list
- few dashes dried basil shopping list
- few dashes oregano shopping list
- dash of chili powder shopping list
- dash of paprika shopping list
- 1/2 tsp sea salt (may be omitted there is salt in the sausage and beef) shopping list
- 1sp fresh cracked pepper shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 4 large fresh basil leaves shopping list
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs shopping list
- one and 1/2 packages of 100% whole wheat organic spaghetti noodles. shopping list
How to make it
- SAUCE:
- sauté onions and garlic
- While this is sautéing add dried basil, oregano, garlic powder, parsley, thyme, rosemary, sea salt, and cracked pepper.
- After sautéing, add all cans of tomatoes. Mix and bring to a simmer.
- Next add coarsely chopped basil leaves and diced carrots.
- For the quartered mushrooms, I sautéed them in butter, cracked pepper and sea salt for a few minutes so that they are still firm. I then added them to the sauce.
- Lastly add the 2 tbsp of sugar and simmer
- MEATBALLS:
- Mix all of ingredients together. I did not put them in a particular order, however I do know that I add the eggs last and then mixed with my hands :).
- Next I rolled out about 30 1 inch sized (maybe a little bigger) meatballs in my hands.
- I then browned the meatballs, added them to the sauce and simmered for 1/2 an hour.
- I think that next time I will add some chiltepins to the meatballs. I love spicy foods and they would give it a nice kick!!
- Cook spaghetti noodles to your liking. I cook them aldente.
- Optional :) : Garnish dish with Parmesan and garlic bread.
