Ingredients

How to make it

  • Wash and cut tops and ends off of the okra. Cut into 1 - 2 inch pieces. Once the okra is cut up, place in the bowl with the tight fitting lid. Add egg to okra. Place lid over the bowl and shake the okra and egg so all pieces of okra are covered with the egg. Remove lid and add the corn meal. Just enough so the okra isn't gummy. Put lid back on and shake, shake shake until covered well with the cornmeal. Get skillet ready and have the oil hot. Add slowly to the hot oil. Turning often until browned. Once all pieces are browned remove and let drain on the paper towel lined plate. Sprinkle salt and lots of pepper over hot okra. Eat and enjoy!

Oh baby, baby.....I love me some fried okra! I could eat it every day. You've inspired me to make some this weekend if I can find some pretty okra around here. Better yet, I want to sip something giddy and have someone make it for me. It's my birthday - and I think it's fair. And fun. Yes, it's allll about me. :)

I hope you're doing well, Jeanette hon. I love your new avatar - you are such a doll! Hugs, Vickie

Nuttin better! This is about as southern as you can get. One of my favorites....I have okra in the garden....won't be long till I can walk out the back door and have some. I make mine like this only I use a couple tablespoons bacon grease too...gives it a little extra flava. *****!!!!

I gave you a 5 because this is the same way I cook my okra and I just love it!!!!! I will have to dusagree with rml about the pepper sauce, that would take away from the great taste of the okra. LOL
