Spaghetti Sauce With A Difference

- 1 lb of extra lean ground beef, shopping list
- 1 lb of hot Italian sausages, casing removed shopping list
- 1 large onion shopping list
- 1 each small green and red pepper shopping list
- 2 carrots shopping list
- 3 celery sticks shopping list
- 1/2 lb mushrooms shopping list
- 3 x 725 ml tins of tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 x 156 ml tomato paste shopping list
- 1 x 398ml stewed tomatoes shopping list
- 1/4 cup of red wine shopping list
- dash of Tabassco shopping list
- 1 tsp rosemary, crushed shopping list
- 3 tbsp of minced garlic shopping list
- 1 1/2 tbsp of basil shopping list
- 1 tsp seasoning salt shopping list
- 1 tsp cayenne shopping list
- 1 tsp black pepper shopping list
- 3 Tbsp honey shopping list
How to make it
- Brown the hamburger and Italian sausage. Remember to remove sausage from casing and break up the beef.
- Dice the onion, green and red pepper, carrots, celery & mushrooms and saute.
- Add the meat to the veggies.
- In a large Dutch Oven add the tomato sauce, tomato paste and stewed tomatoes, mixing well.
- Simmer on low. Add garlic, Tabassco, basil, rosemary salt, pepper and honey.
- Add the meat and veggies and simmer at least 2 hours.
- Serve over your choice of pasta with a green salad and/or garlic bread.
- Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
