Strawberry & Oreo Cookie Ice Cream

Because of the heat wave, ice cream seemed like an ideal dessert. I usually make my own with an electric ice cream maker. I think home made is best since I know what in it! I used a recipe I got off a blog but decided to alter it by adding crushed Oreo cookies. Read more It's a pale pink ice cream with great flavor. Enjoy! See less
Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream shopping list
- 1 cup skim milk ( correct ) shopping list
- 3/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp pure vanilla shopping list
- 2 cups whole strawberries shopping list
- 1 Tbs sugar shopping list
- 6 Oreo cookies crushed into bite size or smaller pieces shopping list
How to make it
- Chop cleaned strawberries into small pieces
- Stir in the 1 Tbs sugar and set aside
- Combine the milk, cream, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and mix well
- Puree the strawberries
- Stir into the cream mixture
- Follow manufacturer's instructions per your ice cream maker to make the ice cream
- When ice cream starts to firm and thicken up ( like soft serve ) add the Oreo cookies and mix well
- May serve then as a soft serve ice cream dessert
- Or
- Freeze as recommended for harder ice cream
