From keni 14 years agoIngredients
- 2lbs lean ground meat(beef, venison, bison, etc) shopping list
- 1 small onion, chopped shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 large or 2 small bell peppers, chopped shopping list
- 1 28oz can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1/3 cup honey shopping list
- 2T molasses shopping list
- 3t dry mustard shopping list
- 3t paprika(smoked if you have it, if not, add about 1/2t liquid smoke to the sauce, too) shopping list
- 1T red wine vinegar shopping list
- 1/2-2t cayenne(to taste) shopping list
- 1t ground cumin shopping list
- 1T worcestershire sauce shopping list
- sea or kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste shopping list
- 6 large sandwich buns shopping list
How to make it
- Begin browning meat in large skillet.
- Add onions, peppers and garlic and let cook with the meat. See Photo
- When meat is just beginning to brown and veggie are al dente, add remaining ingredients, stirring to combine well.
- Bring to a boil then reduce to a high simmer, stirring often, for about 15-20 minutes, until thickened. See Photo
- (if you don't use lean cut of meat and there is a lot of grease after cooking the meat, then drain slightly. Don't drain ALL the grease off, as this will provide a nice flavor, too, but the end result shouldn't be greasy.
- Serve on buns. :)
