Traditional Lasagna

- 1 lb ground beef or italian sausage shopping list
- 72 oz of Ragu traditional spaghetti sauce shopping list
- 2 tablespoons combined dried basil, oregano, and thyme. shopping list
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper shopping list
- box of lasagna noodles (regular, NOT no-bake) shopping list
- 3 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced shopping list
- 16 oz ricotta shopping list
- 3 cups Parmesan, shredded shopping list
- 24 oz shredded mozzarella cheese shopping list
- olive oil, both spray and bottled shopping list
How to make it
- Bring large pot of water to boil.
- Boil lasagna noodles until not quite done.
- Brown meat and spices in large skillet until no pink remains.
- Add sauce and bring to low simmer.
- Lightly coat bottom of ungreased 9x13" lasagna pan with meat sauce.
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- Drain and rinse lasagna noodles.
- Layer the lasagna in the following sequence: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta, noodles, sauce, mozzarella, etc. until you almost run out of space at the top.
- Top with remaining mozzarella & parmesan.
- Take a sheet of tin foil larger than the lasagna pan by several inches on all sides.
- Coat (spray or brush) olive or canola oil on shiny side.
- Cover the top of the baking pan with the tin, place the oily side against the cheese to keep it from sticking.
- Bake covered with tin foil for 50 minutes.
- Uncover for the last 10 minutes or until cheese is golden brown.
- Let sit 15 minutes before serving.
