GPC® 81F
General Purpose Controller,
Zilog 84C00
The GPC® 81F, an ultra
powerful control module packaged on a standard EUROPE Single
Size pcb (100x160 mm), is designed to operate on the similarly
powerful ABACO® 16-bit industrial BUS, thereby exploiting
a generous range of industrial peripherals.
The board is based on the Z80 family of CMOS technology
CPUs and peripherals.
Basic frequency is 8 MHz, though a 10 MHz clock is also available.
Modular design renders the unit ideal for the construction
of architectures with distributed logic, the resources afforded
being advantageous in terms of I/O, and optimum as regards processing
and memory.
With 512 Kbytes EPROM, in effect, the GPC®-81F
is especially suitable for those applications where there is a
need for a large quantity of code memory.
With powerful software packages available, the user can rapidly
and conveniently develop all such programs as may be required
for a given application, and using high level programming languages.
Programming and exploiting the resources of this module is extremely
easy thanks to the help of the stout GDOS
Romated Operative System. This latter supports high level
languages such as BASIC,
PASCAL,
C Compilers
and so on.; it makes available the memory resources as they should
be ROM/RAM-Disk allowing an immediate use of this devices
at high level. This module linked to the MCI-64 and FGDOS manages
PCMCIA cards of RAM cards and, directly, the on-board Peripherals
as serial EEPROM. In addition to that the GPC® 81F
allows a direct management of LCD or Fluorescent Displays.
The FGDOS affords truly notable debug facilities, and allows
to program directly on board a FLASH with the user program.
- EUROPE Single Size pcb measuring 100x160 mm; Interface
to ABACO® Industrial BUS.
- CMOS Z80 chip, with 84C00 type 16 or 20 MHz
quartz clock.
- 3 I/O ports controlled by PPI 82C55 assignable from
software to give a total 24 input/output lines.
- Two RS 232 Serial lines controlled from SIO 84C44.
One of which switchable to RS 422, RS 485 or Current
Loop; communication protocol selectable via software, with
transmission speed variable from 50 to 19200 Baud.
- Octal dipswitch, acquisition via software.
- 4 11-bit A/D Converter lines, with 10-bit accuracy
guaranteed; conversion time 5 ms, range 0÷2.5 V or current
input 0÷20 mA, 4÷20 mA.
- 2K or 8K RAM with backup accessible in I/O, which can include
a Real Time Clock giving time, hours, minutes, seconds,
and date (day, month, year), naming day of the week.
- Watch-Dog, with selection of monostable and bistable
operating modes and trigger time.
- Activity indicator LED with control from software, plus one
set of board Status Indicator LEDs.
- Operating/Debug mode selector.
- 576K internal memory split as 512K EPROM or
FLASH EPROM and 64K RAM. ROM operated as ROM disk, using
FGDOS, with facility of Erasing and Programming FLASH
EPROM directly in 16K sectors.
- Serial EEPROM with capacity 2 to 64K bit.
- CMOS technology applied throughout, bringing low power consumption.
- Single power supply: +5Vdc 150 mA.
- Wide range of developement software such as: Remote-Symbolic-Debugger,
Macro Assembler,
GET-80,
BASIC Compiler,
FORTH, C
Compiler, DDS,
HTC-80,
NoICE, CBZ-80,
PASCAL Compiler,
CMX-RTX,
etc. No development system required in order to operate; for
example, the FGDOS
package and a connection to any PC is sufficient.
