"You Just Don't Know How Beautiful You Are"

Is it me or has Mac Miller significantly evolved his music? This whole live band, funky routine he's been sticking with of late is a good look! Between his previous single with Anderson .Paak (Dang!) and his new one below, he's providing all the motivation necessary to check out his new album, The Devine Feminine. Sure, it helps that the apple of his eye is now chipping in stellar vocals, making his music that much more interesting, but Mac has always been able to spit. Maybe his style just needed a little time in the wine cellar to appreciate over time. Whatever the case, I'm picking up what he's putting down in a big way.

Oh and in case you're into celeb gossip and such, it would appear Mac and Ariana's friendship has organically morphed into something much more. Aren't they just adorable?...#TheDevineFeminine

Videos of the Week August 5th

This week was a refreshing return to the mix of music videos and quality late night clips. In other words, Colbert and Fallon finally came back into the fold with some entertaining new content. Before we get to the specifics of late night, let's give some love to the music first. Led by G-Eazy and Jeremih's Ghostbusters themed video for Saw it Coming, there was a heavy dose of cinema crossover this week. Add to that Mac Miller and Anderson .Paak's funky fresh visuals for their standout single Dang! and now we're talking. Oh, and if you're up for a few corny Drake impressions, you'll find his video with French Montana for No Shopping an interesting watch. In my eyes, it was a bit forced, but hey, can't win 'em all.

In the land of late night, star power was not lacking one bit. Will Smith made his rounds this week promoting Suicide Squad and while doing so he made a stop at Colbert. When he stopped by, the duo sat on a blanket looking at the stars pondering life's biggest questions. Hilarity ensued. Speaking of hilarity, it doesn't get any funnier than someone awkwardly misspelling angel with the word angle. Even better, having Fallon and Aziz Ansari and Fallon reading said texts. Plenty of laughs to go around while rounding out a quality week of videos...#TextualExperience

Merry Christmas Larry Lovestein Style

Usually on Christmas Day the last thing I'm thinking about is writing a post because I'm spending some quality time with the fam. It just so happens that in looking for something Christmas related to quick post tonight, I came across a new track by @macmiller featuring @ArianaGrande aka Nickelodeon star Cat Valentine. Evidently she recently released a single called Do You Love Me? featuring @SkysNuts and it will be on her debut studio album called Daydreamin' in early 2013. Not sure yet what her tie is with Mac, but it's an interesting collabo to say the least.

What's most entertaining about the track is Mac's alter ego @SweetLarryLove, who is an aspiring vocalist. Simply put, Ariana has an angelic voice and Mac is still a great rapper. Not sure if Larry is going to make it as a singer, but he did provide some entertainment value to me on Christmas day and that's about all I could ask for...#MerryChristmasYall

Mac Miller is Known For His Bright Eyes

Bravo to @macmiller for stepping outside the norm for a minute right quick to cover @brighteyesband's First Day of my Life. I had to look up the original from back in 2005, so don't feel bad for not recognizing the track below.

All things considered, Mac did his thing in covering the song. His harmony isn't perfect, but what do you expect for a lyricist? I'm of the thinking that he deserve some daps & lbs for his vocal showing on the cover version. It's a pretty chill rendition, so if you're in a mellow mood and need something to cool out to, this is what I'd prescribe. #MusicPills

"I Just Glow, I'm So Special"

A while back @macmiller tweeted that he was working on multiple records with @Pharrell for his new Pink Slime EP. Knowing the way artists talk about collaborations, it's always safe to take a wait and see approach so that you don't get excited for an album that is infinitely delayed (see Detox). Nonetheless, the announcement which had the Hip Hop blogosphere excited and hopeful that more tracks like On a Roll would surface.

After this week, it seems like things are coming together nicely for the new EP. Not only did Mac let loose with the second Pharrell featured track, Glow, he also confirmed the EP is almost ready to come out of the oven.

What's most refreshing about Glow is the glistening, bouncy, yet unmistakable Neptunes sound that escapes from the beat. Skateboard P gets the production credit, but somewhere @ChadHugo is smiling from ear to ear doing his ghost-producer thing. Doesn't really matter who in the end gets the production credit, what's most important is realizing that Mac And P have developed some serious chemistry together in the studio. Call it similar alternative Hip Hop visions or just an on some other shit type of attitude, they see eye to eye, which shows musically and has me looking forward to some #PinkSlime...

Videos of the Week July 13th

Interesting week for videos in that the two most interesting videos came in the form of interviews rather than videos. The most interesting by far borders around the potential ramifications of the $10 million lawsuit filed by @LordFinesseDITC vs @MacMiller. The dispute it over Mac's Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza track that sampled Finesse'sHip 2 Da Game from 1995.

This past week, they have traded social networking shots first claiming that they hadn't talked and then talking, but now the situation has deteriorated on twitter. The track was never on a studio album, but on Mac's 2010 K.I.D.S. mixtape. While neither song really made huge waves, in the court of law it's all about setting standards and in Hip Hop the sampling/copyright standard on beats has been non-existent. Think about how many rappers have freestyled over beats that weren't theirs on mixtapes. Can you imagine a world without free sampling in Hip Hop? That world is not somewhere I want to live...#FreeSampling

Videos of the Week June 15th

It's a toss up this week deciding which video was most entertaining between @RealWizKhalifa getting Punk'd by @MacMiller or @theroots, @jimmyfallon and @carlyraejepsen rocking out a bare bones edition of Call Me Maybe. One on hand I thought it was great hearing Wiz answering the question, "Have you been drinking?" with "No I smoke weed." But it was pretty clear that he knew all along that it was a set up, so that took away from the punchline a bit. Even worse, @ActuallyNPH and @Revis24 mostly evaded freaking out, leading me to gain more respect for the job @aplusk does.

On the other hand, the schoolhouse rock style acapella version of Call Me Maybe was pretty fun to watch. With all the instruments, Jimmy helping out on the vocals and The Roots jumping in head first to help out Carly, it was really cool to watch. Pretty nuts this little delight of a pop track is over the 100 million views mark on YouTube. It pays to be popular folk, don't ever underestimate that!

Oh yea don't sleep on that @DonaldGlover freestyle, dude killed it! Can't wait to see him in Philly in three weeks...#SeeYaThere

Mac Miller Asks "What More Could You Ask For?"

It's been a while since I've posted anything resembling a feature from @Pharrell, but he's back and teaming up with the game's most highly sought after white boy, @MacMiller. The track features a crazy concoction of out of control vulgarity, a little misogyny, and a beat that will get you movin'. It's a simple world with simple pleasures and let's just say Mac touches on all those in a not so subtle way. Can't hate at all on the wordplay either. My favorite line on the track by far is "Win the Heisman, I'm MVP, I'm Dan Marino you Sandusky" How perfect with the trial set to start next week? The forecast is cloudy with a 100% chance of creepy details that nobody will be able to stomach like these love letters he sent out? #Smmfh

Anyways, Mac's new single will be featured on his joint Pink Slime EP with Skateboard P. If the below is any indication of what's to come on the tape, they've definitely got my attention. Even better, they're trying to release it ASAP, so stay tuned for more in the near future.

Oh and remember, food pink slime = no, speakers and pink slime = yes...#PinkSlime

Bamboozle Concert Review - Part 2

So now that you've read Part 1 where I detailed the opening acts at Bamboozle, it's time to focus on the main events. The first act I deemed to be a "main event" was @macmiller. Let me preface my review of his set by letting you know that I already saw him open for Wiz Khalifa about a year ago, so the novelty or new car shine of his act had worn off. Still, Mac held it down and kept the energy high for every minute of his 45 minute set. After seeing him twice live, there's no doubt my favorite track of his has become Best Day Ever. There's a nostalgic quality to the track from the video of him rapping as a kid to the simply addictive beat...it's just a great track. Coming in a close second was his crowd inspiring performance of Frick Park Market. All in all, a solid set from the resident Rostrum Records white boy extraordinaire.
Next up was @incubusband after a quick stop at the Taco Truck. I'm not even remotely a big Incubus fan, but a few of their songs have found there way into my iTunes library at some point. So, I figured, might as well check them out while I'm here and there's no one else on any other stages I want to see at the moment. Good news was, their set ended up being the calm 45 minutes I needed before the craziness ensued. Hell, they even awarded my attendance by playing my favorite song Are You In?. Much appreciated Incubus, I have a healthy respect for your adult contemporary concert music now that I've seen you live.

We left the Incubus set at 8:40 PM and the next hour was an absolute blur. Not only did we have to make the long walk all the way across the Bamboozle grounds to catch two bands we were excited to see (@Timeflies and @VOLBEAT), but we also needed to be back to the main stage by 9:30 PM. Herein lies the downside of music festivals, sometimes timing doesn't work in your favor when two bands you want to see are playing at around the same time. I mentioned yesterday that Timeflies was late to get on stage and as a result, we only got to see two or three of their songs. Same thing for Volbeat, we stayed for about 20 minutes and then booked it across the beach in the direction of loud electronic music.

The source of that loud electronic music was none other than @Skrillex. If you've been following my blog the past six months, you know darn well how enamored I am with his music. Even better, loud electronic music translates well to wide open venues like Bamboozle, making it a perfect concoction of awesomeness. Fighting through the amped up crowd in pitch darkness on the beach was an unenviable obstacle, but we managed to find high ground and an above average view of the stage. Put it this way, when you're short, motivated and have been to more than a few concerts, you develop a knack for finding ways to see...#HobbitTricks
The first song playing when we walked up was one of my favorites, a remix of @Avicii's Levels...
Avicii - Good Feelin' (Skrillex Remix)

The next time I arrive fashionably late to a set, I can only hope it'll be half as awesome as what I witnessed with Skrillex. Like any other electronic/dubstep there are literally no breaks in the action, only lulls in between high energy synthesizers. One after another, he kept mixing in his own remixes with other well know dubstep/EDM tracks that everyone in attendance was familiar with. For example, I'll always be partial to his remix of @nerouk's Promises because it was the first song that I ever heard from Skrillex...
Nero - Promises (Skrillex Remix)

As his set continued, I kept thinking to myself, he's got a whole hour and a half on stage, but only a few EPs to rely on. I wonder how he's going to fill the time? The answer is became really simple as he seamlessly weaved his way through organic hits like Bangarang and Summit, while sprinkling in a few well known hits that aren't his like @knifepartyinc's Internet Friends.

What I've come to appreciate about seeing EDM artists like Skrillex in concert is that you never feel cheated when it's over. If anything you feel completely drained because of the constant high energy stimuli in your face. Maybe you get used to the unabashed electronics after attending a few concerts, but I've never felt like "man I wished they just would have played a couple more songs" at an EDM show. Yea part of it is because I'm on the shady side of 20, but intense, loud music can only be interesting for so long. It just so happens, Skrillex kept my interest piqued for his entire set as he rounded third heading for the finish line when he went In for the Kill...
La Roux - In For the Kill (Skrillex Remix)

So what are the five key takeaways of my first festival experience?
1) Get there at least 45 mins early if you want to see the first act because a lot of people have to go through security to get through
2) Don't automatically go for their festival sponsored parking options. It would have cost me and my girlfriend $10 each to park 7 miles away and have to wait for a bus. Instead we parked 4 blocks away for free and walked. #Clutch
3) Take advantage if the festival permits you to bring in one unopened water bottle
4) Time management, time management, TIME MANAGEMENT! It's a good problem to have when so many great artists are at the same festival, but they don't always stay on schedule and sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on to the next set
5) Any beach concert is going to be chilly at night, prepare for being near the ocean. In what can only be described as a rookie mistake, my girlfriend and I had to buy $5 long sleeve t's to make up for our lack of night weather consideration. Just because it's 80+ degrees during the day, doesn't mean that ocean breeze isn't going make you pay later at night
Feel free to peruse my modest album of pictures I took at Bamboozle and don't hesitate if you're offered the opportunity to see Skrillex in concert. It was well worth the full price of admission...#RulerOfEDM

"Please Pick Me, Love's a Team Sport"

When I first posted the original version of @JustinBieber's latest single Boyfriend, I commented that the track sounded a lot like Ying Yang Twins' Whisper Song. So what does Biebs do? He goes and recruits @yingyangtwins on the Boyfriend (Remix). I'd say it's safe to say Ying Yang sounded at home on the remix and added a needed level of subtle sleaziness to the track.

Even though the first remix was solid, I'd favor remix number two featuring the fresh new lyricists. Maybe, just maybe @2chainz is starting to grow on me a little with his unapologetic southern rhymes. @macmiller and @asherroth did some work on their verses by adding their own quick witted playalistic bars. All things considered, Asher's verse wins in this remix competition. From the 7 minutes in heaven reference, to the talk of sliding his hands to second base, and finally finishing with the most universal truism that everyone wants to be like Selena and Biebs, Ash simply slayed it. It's the type of lyricism that was needed from the start, causing me to give an emphatic stamp of approval...#CountIt

Videos of the Week May 4th

Bunch of interesting videos this week ranging from an extremely awkward samurai flavored MTV First Date for @donaldglover to an Electric Feel type of woodland forest video from @rihanna. In other words, this week strayed off the beaten path since there were less big video releases. Pretty cool to see how @BIGKRIT lives life on tour and how incredibly down to earth he is. It was cool to see all the cameos on the Street Knock video too from @alleniverson to @therealkiss. Anybody else not believe @macmiller is from earth? Didn't think he was capable of a track like Clarity, but that's not necessarily a bad thing...#Maturity

Lots of @JColeNC in the videos this week, which is always a good thing. Is it just me or is anybody else absolutely memorized by @araabmuzik every time he touches an MPC? Dude is a beast and I was happy to hear he iscoming to Philly soon so I can see that magic in person. As a sidenote, I'm still salty over the end product of Flo Rida's Good Feelin'. "Used to Take the Bus, Now the Boy Board Jets "

It's been a little over a month since @MacMiller's latest mixtape Best Day Ever dropped and I'm feeling like I didn't give it the love it deserved when it dropped. To put things in perspective, his mixtape has been out about 6 weeks now and has over 1 million views and 275,000 downloads...whoa! With hype tracks like Donald Trump and the title track on the album (below), you could say the buzz he created with his newest release gained some traction with fans. I wouldn't go as far to say his new tape is anywhere near as good as his last release K.I.D.S., but surpassing the success of that groundbreaking tape would have been a tall order.

To be fair, I was a fan of this song prior to seeing him in concert two weeks ago, but when he kicked the second verse of Best Day Ever acapella, I gained a new respect for his talents. Although he may only be 19 years old and may sound young, I've been impressed with the depth of his lyrics. Just take the hook of this track as an example:
"No matter where life takes me, find me with a smile
Pursuit to be happy only laughing like a child
I never thought life would be this sweet
It got me cheesing from cheek to cheek
And I ain't gonna wait for nothing cause that just ain't my style
Life couldn't get better, this gon' be the best day ever"
For a young dude comin' up who makes predominantly wild out party music, I like that he can still reel it back in and get introspective on a track if need be.

Rostrum Records is definitely in the building for 2011 and I'm starting to catch on to the general sound that @idlabsmusic has been crafting for the label. He did the beats on more than a few of my favorites off Rolling Papers like Cameras and The Race. Chalk up the track below to his production and don't ever forget that your favorite artist is able to shine because of the producers who get behind the boards to lay the foundation for their success.

Kinda ironic I'd post the song Best Day Ever on Easter too right? Enjoy it with your fam y'all, especially you Chreaster folks who put in time twice a year at your local worshipping establishments...#GodStilLovesYouIPromise

Concert Review: Wiz Khalifa Campus Consciousness Tour

About two months ago I caught wind of @RealWizKhalifa's Green Carpet Campus Consciousness Tour announcement and was visibly excited when I saw multiple dates within an hour of where I live. Take it a step further, one of the dates was less than 10 minutes away and free. GTFOH! Yea that's wassup, no more traveling over an hour and paying $30 a ticket, Wiz was comin' to Lehigh University, aka my back yard. Even more, the timing was ideal with his album having dropped about two weeks prior, allowing me to do a few laps around it and build some familiarity prior to seeing the tracks live. As final icing on the cake for a Sunday, April 10th to remember, Wale and Chiddy Bang were going to be putting on a show 10 mins away from Wiz Khalifa's performance AND there would be no overlap between concerts since Wiz/Mac Miller were performing in the afternoon and Wale/Chiddy were playing later at night. Needless to say, the stars were aligned and for a Hip Hop fan in the Lehigh Valley, it was a perfect opportunity to get out and see a few of my favorite acts without having to get on a highway.

Fast forward to the day of the concert, where it was a complete guessing game as to when the sets were going to start. Having searched the interwebs for days leading up to the concert, I found that the Sundaze event started at noon and went til around 5PM with the main act hitting the stage between 4 and 5PM. To be safe, I left at 2PM and ended up making it into the event, which was nothing more than a huge field with a big stage, as @MacMiller was hitting the stage. Perfect timing, because I really wanted to see if Mac would live up to all this hype surrounding his music of late.
From the start he was a non-stop ball of energy, keeping the crowd involved, mixing between sing along hooks and ferocious, Twista-esque, syllable bending, hyper-speed verses. To be honest, he impressed me. I only knew a few of his tracks, but he's got talent and plenty of charisma to spare. He's the type of dude you find yourself rooting for because of his happy-go-lucky personality and the infectious energy he exudes. His set was scripted well, too, as he ended with his most notable track Donald Trump (below)...
Mac Miller - Donald Trump at Lehigh University
As his set finished, I tried in vain to improve my view for the main act, eventually settling on a raised electrical cord protector that gave me about two more inches. My girl also took notice of the ridiculous amount of kush floating and being smoked throughout the audience. I shit you not it was more of a gathering to smoke weed together with friends with music in the background, rather than a concert. She thought Dave Matthews Band had a lot of trees being burned...til she saw the demographic of people at Wiz's show. #StonersHeaven

The one cool thing about Hip Hop concerts (compared to instrument-based concerts) is the wait between sets being considerably less. As such, Wiz came on like 20 minutes after Mac got done rockin' the set. As far as my expectations for the show, they were hiiiiiiggghhh as hell, like everyone in attendance. Not only had I seen Wiz a couple months before at Croc Rock in November, but again, his new album was dope and I was excited to hear the new tracks (check the album review I did last week if you're curious why I liked it).
As the show started, I already kinda knew what to expect, since he generally follows the same formula of performing his older mixtape stuff before getting to the new stuff. With tracks like Phone Number, In the Cut, Still Blazin', The Thrill, Car Service, Never Been, Wiz kept it live and catered to all the die hard Taylors who were familiar with the old stuff. Luckily, this time I was prepared for the onslaught of old stuff, having copped all his older mixtapes after I saw him in Nov.

As he moved on past the old tracks to newer stuff off Kush and Orange Juice like Never Been and Mesmorized, I was happily surprised when he decided to deliver his verse off That Good acapella (below)...
Wiz Khalifa - That Good (Acapella Verse) at Lehigh University
As an aside, Uncle Snoopy D O Double G said High School was supposed to drop today on 04/20, but that was pushed back to June. As he wound down the older tracks with the unreleased track produced by @SmokedOutLuger, Taylor Gang, you could tell he was going to start getting into the new stuff. He started with the lead track to Rolling Papers, When I'm Gone, which acted as a mellow and perfect transition into his new songs. The one minute piano lead in on the track gave him just enough time to thank everyone for their support and shift gears into his more guided, well-put-together album tracks.

He nailed the set list too. The only tracks I really wish he would have performed would have been my favorite track off Rolling Papers, Cameras. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I really dig that track. A close second favorite would be his third Stargate produced track and potential future single, Wake Up. This track might have been my favorite track all day as it provided the necessary chill out that gave contrast to all the upbeat party music he performed. I've had a hard time not including this track in any and every playlist I've made in the past month. Off top, the line, "Ohh, long days, but I know hard work pays, so all the money getting long too" over the trippy zoned-out synths do it for me every time.

As he moved on through the new stuff, it was no surprise to see an all-college crowd go ham when they heard the beginning of his new single No Sleep. Hard to find another track that more closely embodies the mood and lifestyle of kids in college like his new single (below):
Wiz Khalifa - No Sleep at Lehigh University
Toward the end, you could tell he was nearing his "Hip Hop encore," where the artist tells you they are almost done and then play their most well-known songs. Always wondered why Hip Hop was exempt from the "walk off the stage and come back in a minute after everyone is chanting your name" style encore, but it's more to the point, I guess. Was a big fan of the lead in to his second single Roll Up, going back and forth with Chevy Woods between scratches saying "Roll Up!" (below):
Wiz Khalifa - Roll Up at Lehigh University
All in all, a really entertaining concert. It's hard to compare Hip Hop shows to shows with instruments, but if you can cope with a lot of rapping over loud beats instead of hearing live instrumentation, you'll appreciate the show Wiz puts on. He keeps it positive and fun with his characteristically exaggerated stoner laugh, but on the flip side, he brings a lot of energy to his show, which keeps the crowd engaged in his music. The lighting just so happened to be awesome the day of the show, so I got plenty of good shots. Feel free to peruse below...#SlideShowOff

"Hotter Than This Wasabi, Pittsburgh Boy, Sidney Crosby"

Nice to see we're starting to get a whole lot of consistency out of @chiddybang, as they keep cranking out quality tracks. I value originality in music, which why I've hitched a ride to their bandwagon. Their Indie vibe made of grimy verses delivered by @realchiddy and interesting, organic production is makes their sound unique. Seems like Hip Hop is starting to take note as more and more artists like @macmiller are contributing verses on their upcoming album Breakfast, due out sometime this summer and coinciding with the Bamboozle Roadshow they are embarking on with @/pusha_T.

Digging the 1960's Martha and the Vandellas - Heatwave sample too, feel free to check the original below...
Also, if you haven't heard of @XaphoonJones aka the other half of Chiddy, you should give his new mixtape Xaphoon Jones Vol 2 a listen. The beats XJ is capable of making are awe inspiring, like this break beat right here. Pretty sick, it's no wonder they've got such a fresh sound with him behind the boards...

East coast could use a damn heat wave with all this rain/sleet this week. Better get some damn sunshine for Sundaze this weekend before I do the unthinkable double header and finish the night watching Chiddy and Wale...#HollaAtchaBoy

Free Hip Hop With a Bow On It

Tis the season for Mixtapes and what better way to start than a much anticipated release from Cleveland native @chip216. With the whole tape produced by 1/2 the @coolxkids with @chuckisdope behind the boards, the level of quality Hip Hop throughout is assumed. Every beat will have you nodding your head and admiring the *fresh* as you listen to Chip methodically flow with his his in your face, but cool as a summer breeze delivery.

Between as the Twitter chatter and blog and merchandise love Gift Raps is getting, it's no surprise this has over 26,000 downloads in datpiff in less than two weeks. As far as this week is concerned, it's only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Mixtapes. You've got @ITSPACDIV - Mania (10K downloads), @macmiller - Best Day Ever (61K downloads), @dopeitsdom - Original Dom Kennedy (4K downloads, @BEIMAEJOR - Throwback (3K downloads) and to top it all off the other half of the Cool Kids (@sirmichaelrocks) is releasing The Rocks Report on Monday. Put it this way, plenty of homework to do for bloggers and Hip Hop heads alike when it comes to sifting through the heap of free music we've been provided this week.

Below are my two favorite tracks from Gift Raps, the first with co-prod credit from the Blended Babies. If you've been admiring the @charliesheen saga unfold, you'll get a chuckle out of the tweet below as it relates pretty well to the motto on Plural...

As far as best beat on the mixtape is concerned, easily the absolutely bangin' Everyday Chillin beat that has Chuck's paw prints all over it. Love the simplistic, heavy sound all over the track...

"Style Come With Excellence and Money Make Benevolence"

You could say being associated in any way to @realwizkhalifa is a great thing right now with Black and Yellow and Roll Up wrecking shop on iTunes. Still, I'd hesitate to attribute much of @MACMILLER's success to Wiz, even though they share the same Rostrum Records/High School/Taylor Gang affiliations. I say that because dude is starting to take flight on his own with tracks like the one below, Donald Trump, off his upcoming mixtape Best Day Ever, which drops on March 11th.

I'll say this, if you like Wiz Khalifa's style of rapping and his non-chalant, laid back flow, you're gonna feel the same way about Mac Miller. Both have and undeniable independence with the way they go about their business and you could say they both indulge in Kush on a daily basis, for medicinal purposes of course (HAH!). For real tho, both smoke a lotta weed man and although I'm not one to indulge myself, I'm fully in support of them continuing whatever habits they are currently doing as long as it results in me getting to hear more great music...#Selfish

Don't discount the production by @TheRealSap either, dude just signed with @coolanddre and if his beats are anything like the on you hear below on the track, there's plenty reason to get excited for what's to come. As a second sidebar, you may have missed Wiz and Mac releasing a boat load of tour dates this week. Below are the dates, you can count me in on all the PA shows...#CyaThere...

P.A. STAND UP!

Sitting here watching the Steelers dismantle the Jets, I figured what better time than post the newly released P.A. anthem, brought to you by a Hip Hop mainstay from Philly (Freeway) and up and coming Pittsburgh native (Mac Miller). Although I currently reside in P.A., I never really grew up here, so I don't have that homegrown pride that would go along with listening to this track. That being said, I have lots of friends who are eating this up because they will forever rep where they grew up and there's respect for that. Sidebar: I'm not even close to a Steelers or Eagles fan, but I do respect Steelers nation because they treat football like religion, sorta like my kin folk do in Buckeye nation. Game respect game, I'm a fan of the track Black and Yellow and damn near everything the paper plane gang is putting out these days, so I guess you could say guilt by association?

All joking aside, @REALWIZKHALIFA has so much momentum going for him right now, it's not a surprise his Taylor Allderdice High School mate @macmiller is appreciating in exposure too. Put it this way, life is good if you're a Taylor Gang/Rostrum Records member right now and for a kid who has a bunch of raw talent, it's a perfect place to flourish. Keep your eye out for Mac Miller in 2011 and don't discount all the Philly love @phillyfreezer sprinkles all over the track, even going as far as to say, "Next year's Super Bowl Eagles vs Steelers!." Before your mind explodes at the mention of that, mind the beat and host of this track @statikselekt and go out cop his new EP with Freeway titled The Statik-Free EP....
