Different readings from Nest on two iPhones

Hi.  My husband and I are away from home but have been checking NEST thermostat because my father in law is home.  We just chef and got drastically different thermostat readings. Using google home, my phone says it is 71 with61% humidity and at the exact same time, my husband’s phone has 78 with 68% humidity.  Any ideas why this would be different?? I checked the device information and all of that is exactly the same.

Hello @Dgudenas,

Thanks for reaching out about the different Nest thermostat readings you and your husband are seeing on your phones while away from home. It can be confusing to see these discrepancies, especially when you've confirmed that the device information is identical.

  • Sensor Location and Calibration: Nest thermostats have temperature and humidity sensors built-in. Slight variations in sensor location within the housing or minor calibration differences can result in minor temperature and humidity readings.
  • Phone Location Services (Optional): In rare cases, Google Home might use phone location services to display weather data alongside the Nest thermostat reading. This could potentially cause a small difference if your phone locations differ slightly. (Check your Google Home app settings to see if location services are enabled for the app.)
  • Refresh Apps: As mentioned earlier, try refreshing the Google Home app on both phones or deleting it on both devices and getting the newest version.
  • Check Thermostat Readings Directly: If possible, ask your father-in-law to physically check the Nest thermostat itself and confirm the temperature and humidity readings displayed.

Hopefully, these suggestions help resolve the difference in readings. Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Jorge
