3 nest outdoor cameras all gone bad

Krodriguez19

Preface: this camera is underneath an overhang in a very dry climate so no water damage or heat damage.

The first two cameras kept randomly disconnecting like 5-10x a day but my nest doorbell is fine and all my other cameras.

This latest one I had for 5 years (so out of warranty) and just randomly stopped powering up despite having power at the unit. You would think for the price of these things they would start paying more attention to craftsmanship. I'm about one bad support call away from canceling all 30 nest devices I have and nest aware as it stands.

Hi Krodriguez19,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bad customer experience when trying to fix your two cameras that are going offline every now and then and your camera that is not powering up. No worries; I'm here to help! Just to get started, I need some information to provide you with a good resolution.

The Nest Cameras Outdoor are offline.

  • Which app are you using to view the cameras (Google Home or the Nest app)?
  • Is the Wi-Fi router or access point within a reasonable range (1 to 15 meters) of between three and fifty feet from the cameras?
  • Has there been any recent change in the home Wi-Fi network?
  • What are the upload and download internet speeds where the cameras are located?

The Nest Camera Outdoor is not powering up.

You mentioned that the camera is five years old. Probably, because of the years, the electrical circuit has degraded. Since this is a first-generation camera, it does not have a factory reset button you can click. So, you can leave the camera unplugged for three days. This will act as our factory reset. This will erase all data and potentially resolve any software errors.

Let me know how it goes. If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Nery.
