Add stock media

You can add stock videos, images, music, sound effects, stickers, and GIFs to your videos.

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. In the side panel to the right of the canvas, click Stock media .
3. In the search box, enter a description of what you’re looking for, or search for a specific media type.

4. Click an item to add it to the canvas.
   Tip: Stock videos, images, music, sound effects, stickers, and GIFs are inserted at the beginning of the scene. Audio clips are inserted at the location of the playhead (the blue graphic line in the video’s timeline).

 Add generated images

You can add images generated by Gemini to your videos.

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. In the side panel to the right of the canvas, click Create image with Gemini ​.
3. In the search box, describe the image you want to generate. For better results, include the subject, setting, materials, or background. For example: 
   • A Hawaiian beach at sunset with palm trees in the distance.
   • A plate of freshly baked blueberry muffins on a wooden table by a large window. 
   • A futuristic city at night with skyscrapers and flying cars, HD details, and shadows.
4. (Optional) To specify the kind of image you want, such as a photo or drawing, click Add a style.
5. To generate suggested images, click Create.
6. To insert a generated image, click the image.

Add media from Google Drive, your computer, or the web

You can add media from Google Drive, your computer, or the web to your videos.

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. In the timeline, select the scene where you want to add the item.
3. To upload an image from Google Drive: 
   1. In the Vids menu bar, click Insert  My media.
   2. Select the file you want to add.
4. To upload an image or video from your computer:
   1. In the Vids menu bar, click Insert  Upload.
   2. Select the image or video you want to add.
5. To drag an image from your computer or the web:
   1. On your computer or website, locate the image you want to add.
   2. Drag the image onto a scene in your video.
6. To copy and paste an image from your computer or the web:
   1. On your computer, right-click the image you want to add.
   2. Click Copy. 
   3. In your video, right-click a scene and choose Paste.
      
      Tip: It might take a moment for your image to open, depending on image size and internet connection speed.

Add text or objects

You can add text, including stylized text blocks, as well as shapes, lines, and other objects to your video.

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. Select the scene where you want to add text or an object.
3. In the side panel to the right of the canvas, click Text  or Shape & line .
4. Click the object you want to insert, then modify, arrange, or format the object as needed.

Add audio clips

You can add your own audio files to your video—including sound effects, music, and other audio recordings—from your computer or Google Drive. Audio tracks can span multiple scenes, and tracks can play at the same time, such as voice overs and background music. 

You can add up to 25 audio tracks per video.

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. On the timeline, move the playhead to the place where you want to add the audio clip.
3. Add a file:
   • From your computer: In the top menu bar, click Insert  Upload.
   • From your Google Drive:  In the top menu bar, click Insert  My media.
4. Select the file you want to add. A track for the audio clip is inserted at the playhead location.
5. Customize your sound and transitions for the clip as needed.

 Record narration & video clips

Record yourself (audio narration or full video recording), your computer screen, or your surroundings using the Vids recording studio. 

1. On your computer, open a video in Google Vids.
2. Select the scene where you want to add the recording.
3. In the side panel, click Recording .
4. On the recording studio pop-up, allow your browser to access your camera and microphone.
5. Select a recording option:
   • Camera —Record video and audio from your computer's camera and microphone.
   • Camera and screen —Record video and audio from your computer's camera, microphone, and screen.
   • Audio and screen —Record your computer screen and system audio.
   • Audio —Record audio only from your computer's microphone.
6. If you're using a script, select a teleprompter option:
   • Read along—Vids highlights the script as you read it and scrolls to match your reading speed. 
   • Rolling—Vids scrolls the script at a constant speed.
   • Manual—You scroll the script yourself using the up and down keys on your keyboard.
7. When you’re ready, select Start recording  at the bottom of the screen.
8. When you're done, select Pause recording  at the bottom of the screen.
9. Click Preview Insert.
