Podcaster Q&A

Tell us about yourself – what is your background?

Hi there! My name is Kerri and I'm a Certified Trauma Support Specialist. I am also the Owner/CEO of End DV Now. I'm also currently taking courses to become a Trauma and Resiliency Life Coach! I've worked with survivors of Intimate Partner Violence for over 12 years and with those who have Traumatic Brain Injury for 8 years. I work collaboratively with brilliant and wonderful professionals and groups around the world in this field! We work to promote research, provide education and training!

Why did you get into podcasting?

I started this podcast as a way of connecting different shared experiences we may have with trauma, and steps we can take in order to heal, build resiliency, and grow!

How did the idea for the show come about?

I am a lifelong trauma survivor! With my trauma-informed training, I wanted to reach out to others with lived experiences of trauma in order to help explain various aspects of trauma. I also wanted to offer easy to use, real world, and relatable ways to understand and heal from it!

What do you hope listeners take from the show?

I want listeners to really understand just how much trauma affects us in every area of our lives! It affects our brains, bodies, reactions, behaviors, relationships, and so much more. We didn't choose what happened to us, and we can't change our experiences, but we can learn new tools, coping skills, other things to "rewire" our brains! We can change our lifelong learned patterns of behavior and create new pathways towards healing!

What's been the biggest challenge for you?

It's been a HUGE learning curve for me in how to actually create and put together a podcast! With my trauma impacts, and brain injury (sustained from Intimate Partner Violence and a burst brain aneurysm) it's hard to stay on track! Just like many people listening, I struggle with my mental health, focus and concentration, so much more! I'm a work in progress!

How can your listeners support your show?

Listeners can support my show by liking, following, subscribing, and sharing wherever they listen! Go to my Facebook page Invisible Wounds: Healing From Trauma and please let me know your thoughts, comments, anything about the show, or whatever's on their minds! I'm also on Twitter at Kerriwalker58. They can go to my websites invisiblewoundshealingfromtrauma.com or enddvnow.com for more information and resources!

Any future plans that you'd like to share?

I'm working on a YouTube channel for the podcast so stay tuned!
