Chapter 14 - Defense of Asgard
You begin this chapter at the base of a long staircase. Head to the left and follow a balcony that extends in that direction to find a Valknut along the edge, just behind a pillar. Then return to the right. Climb the stairs and at their top you'll find a manual save point. Put it to use.
Above Left: You can climb the steps to find a manual save station before you resume your proper adventure. Above Right: Destroy the hovering cannon by deflecting its shot.
Now your goal is to defend Asgard. There's an on-screen meter to let you know its current condition. Head back down the steps you climbed to reach the save point and look to the side. Head around the stairs nearby and you'll find a Thunderbolt for your collection. To claim it, you'll have to deflect a shot from an airborne machine. The collectible will drop when you defeat the machine.
Now start toward the right. In that direction, you'll find two grapple rings hanging over distinct regions. One looks like a lava lake and another a wider ice field. Aim for the right of those two and grapple over to it. You'll find yourself standing on a ledge. There, you can and should switch to the first-person perspective offered. Fire your hammer at the huge approaching enemies to quickly eliminate them before they can inflict damage on the city walls.
When that batch of enemies is defeated, you'll return to the overhead area. You can look just to the left then and find a new ring. Grapple over to it to find yourself in a circular area near the horn. You need to activate the horn, but first you must energize several runes along the ground and eliminate a number of giants. Work quickly, as you haven't much time. You can use magic to eliminate the smaller guys and to weaken the giants as you move around the area activating runes. Then when you defeat the last of the enemies, sound the horn by interacting with the bar along its base.
You'll be taken back to the overhead area yet again for a brief cutscene. Then it's time to grapple over to another ring. This one should be the right of two available in close proximity, so make sure that you aim for the right one.
Above Left: If you leap to the rings in the wrong order, you're going to run out of time without accomplishing anything of note. Above Right: There's no time to waste as you deal with the Frost Goliath.
You'll arrive back in the area where you just recently liberated the horn. Enemies are now attacking it. You can't stop them from destroying it if you focus on defending it, so instead you should look to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible, filling your Fury Meter. Then you can unleash its power to clear the area before returning to the overhead area where the save point is located.
Now you will be presented again with two grapple rings to which you can leap. Focus on the ring on the right. When you grapple over to that ledge, you'll find yourself battling a Frost Goliath. The problem is that you have almost no time in which to demolish your heavily armored foe. Begin by running toward him and chucking powered hammers at him so that he becomes stunned. Grapple onto his body, hit him five times in the chest (your starting position), then switch to the left shoulder and from there immediately up to the head area. Now use your most powerful grapple move, not weak hammer blows, to damage some of his armor. When you fall to the ground after doing so, immediately start throwing hammers again to stun him. This time, grapple up to his body and immediately switch to one of his shoulders. Use a powerful move again, drop to the ground and repeat the process for the other shoulder. Now spend the remainder of the battle repeating the process until he tries to crush you between his hands. Mash the button that appears on-screen to break free and destroy the Frost Goliath. Grab the Valknut along the edge of the arena before you grapple up to the ring that appeared when you defeated the giant.
This time when you return to the overhead area, you'll want to grapple down to a ring that appears just to your left. You'll head down to a fire pit. Immediately look to the left in time to see machines rising from the ground. You can switch to first-person perspective and take out three of them. Then some enemies will attack. Defeat as many enemies as possible in a huge burst of lightning, then absorb magic and look to the sky again. More of the machines should be rising into the air. Continue to alternate between destroying machines and destroying enemies. Absorb magic that the machines leave behind (you can hold up on the d-pad to do so) and keep doing as much damage to machines and enemies as possible. There are a total of 20 of the machines, and defeating them will keep Asgard in good shape and give you time to eliminate the enemies. When they're done for, head to the side of the area and interact with a rock. You can lift it and toss it down on an area below to eliminate a few last machines. Then grab the Valknut that you revealed by lifting the rock.
Above Left: You can make use of magic to more easily defend the bomb from the enemies that are trying to destroy it prematurely. Above Right: Once the drill arrives, hack apart the supports yourself so that you can toss the bomb into the drill's path.
You can now grapple back up to the overhead area. There, a scene follows. Save your progress at the manual save station if you like. Then you should return to the area that you just left.
There's a new attraction now. A huge bomb has been placed at the center of the area, with several legs to prop it up. Your job now is to guard the bomb for a while. Enemies will appear from the sides to rush it and you can run around, tossing your hammer at them so that they don't get close enough to harm it. Once you have eliminated a few of those enemies, some flying ones will appear. They'll be followed by more of the ones that rush on the ground. You can eliminate them with lightning magic as needed, if there get to be too many of them. You'll also have to deal with some more powerful foes near the end of the process, so make sure that you keep your meter relatively full.
When you have defeated enough of those enemies, a drill will appear in the sky and start moving slowly toward you. At that point, rush over to the legs that prop up the bomb. You need to quickly destroy all four of them (magic works best). Then you can interact with it. You'll lift it and toss it into the fire column produced by the drill, which causes a massive explosion that clears the area. Now you can grab the Mjolnir item that appears before you grapple back up to the overhead area.
A cutscene follows and then you advance directly into the final chapter.
