Maps Stratgeies — Five
Overview
Made up of three levels, Five is a much more complex map than Kino der Toten. Like Kino der Toten, there is a power switch you must turn on. It's located in the basement, but reaching it is an expensive feat worth about $4,000. That's easily five rounds if you can pinch every dollar. Remember that the strategy for building a small fortune in the beginning stays relatively constant with the only variable being positioning and pacing.
Starting Off
Hold out in the starting room for about four rounds, essentially saving money for turning the power back on. To get to the basement, you need to access the first floor elevator, clear up a couple blockades, use the elevator again to reach the basement and voila. With the power back on, the teleporters will work, but in order to get the PAP upgrades, you'll need to set the Def Con level to 5. To do that, activate all four switches in the war room.
The Pentagon Tech
Unique to this map is the Pentagon tech who randomly spawns once the power is turned on and whose toughness increases in the later rounds. His baneful existence is meant to piss you off by stealing your weapons and rocking in general a fair bit of bullet resistance. That means you'll need to be hitting him hard with a lightning storm of ratatatat (that's the sound a machine gun makes, apparently), grenades, and Claymores.
The Pentagon tech's arrival is preceded by the lights turning blue, so when that happens it's time to set up the streamers and cake as a welcome. By streamers and a cake, we obviously mean Claymores. The cake is a lie. Plant them by the elevator and prepare to inundate the cretin with grenades and relentless gunfire. Reloading wastes time when it is of the essence, so for this reason have both your weapons fully stocked. If he runs at you, switch over to a weapon that you're less likely to choke someone over if you lose it.
However, as annoying as he is, it's definitely worth killing him, as doing so rewards you with Fire sale which is the mystery box with a reduced cost of 10 per use. Even better if you manage to eliminate the bastard before he succeeds in making away with anyone's weapons, the Bonfire sale cuts PAP upgrades down to $1,000 and bestows the mystery box discount as well.
Five's Unique Features
Five's special weapon, Winter's Howl, is a handy weapon that freezes Zombies. One suggestion for finding the mystery box is to look through the windows so you're not wasting any money unlocking doors unnecessarily. Besides that, the elevator and teleporter are your ticket out of any emergency situation. There aren't a whole lot of places in Five where you can hold down the fort. Think on your feet -- you'll be running a lot -- and communicate: these are the two best pieces of advice we can give.
