While detailing the new Squad Rush multiplayer mode for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, DICE revealed that the mode will be made exclusively available for thirty days to those who pre-order the game from GameStop. DICE points out that players who did pre-purchase the game can invite their friends who didn't pre-order to play the new mode. Luckily, PC and non-North American gamers get access to Squad Rush without the need for a pre-order.

Another EA-published title, Army of Two: The 40th Day, also temporarily retricted content to pre-orderers. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is set to release on March 2nd for PC, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Tyler says: It hurt my brain when Army of Two sealed one of its multiplayer modes in a pre-order deal, and I don't even care about that franchise. Battlefield, on the other hand, is one franchise that I hold near and dear to my heart. I'll just imagine that it's the bidding of EA forcing these devs to add incentive to pre-orders (which is probably the case). I can already hear my confused friends on day one, "why can't I host a Squad Rush game?" To which I'll reply, "because you didn't pre-order." To which they'll reply, "crappy."
