As nearly everyone and their grandmothers know, the Wii is still the hottest thing in the gaming world, despite the fact that Nintendo's little white console has been out for nearly two years. Thanks to the rise of casual or mainstream gaming (or whatever you like to call it), the system has made its way into living rooms, dorm rooms, and nursing homes all over the world. The only drawback to this explosion in popularity is the fact that developers and publishers are rushing to put games out for the system, occasionally at the expense of quality. With so many Wii titles hitting the market, GameSpy decided to separate the wheat from the chaff to give you a better idea of which games you should be getting excited about.

Call of Duty: World at War

By now, it's pretty clear that the developers at Treyarch love the Wii. After all, they're making Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond title that's on this list, as well as the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise. This is great news for those folks who were disappointed by the fact that Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4 didn't make it onto the Wii, as well as anyone who enjoys finely crafted first-person shooters.

Unfortunately, we really don't know very much about the Wii version of the game, as all we've seen so far are the Xbox 360 and PC versions. It sounds like the story and setting will be the same (back to WWII, everybody!), and we're hopeful that Jack Bauer himself will be reprising his role in the Wii game. Hopefully the flamethrower will make it onto the Wii too, as toasting enemies alive is one of the game's big draws. One thing you can be sure of: This is going to be one of the most intense Wii games of 2008!

Sonic Unleashed

Although he made his name on Sega's console, Sonic seems to be a Nintendo man at heart. After all, he's appeared in dozens of games on his former rival's systems, including a bunch on the Wii. His latest title takes a page from some of the previous games, offering up a storyline that pits the blue-spined hedgehog against the evil Dr. Eggman.

You probably don't really care all that much about the story, and just want to know if the game is fast. You'll be happy to learn that not only does it hearken back to the good old days when Sonic was the fastest anthropomorphic creature in gaming, it actually might be the quickest Sonic game to date! We'll see when it comes out.
