Chapter 7: Ally
Enemies Encountered | Level |
Imaginary Brawler | 4 |
Imaginary Brawler | 1 |
Idle Sky Pirate | 1 |
Ephemeral Summoner | 4 |
This chapter puts you in control of Tifa, so load her up with equipment, accessories & Summons in the customization menu. As soon as you take control, you'll be in gateway play, so move forward and open the chest for a Pearl Necklace accessory. Your first battle will be with a pair of chained Imaginary Brawlers, so engage the one furthest to the right to get started. Tifa primarily uses close-range attacks, and both battles are in open enough stages that you won't have any problems finding your opponent and staying close. A one-two punch of Beat Rush followed by Meteodrive is an efficient combo to take down the Brawlers without too much trouble.
After the second battle, move to the top of the board and pick up the Summonstone to receive Magic Pot (Auto). Equip it if you'd like, then move to the far right of the board and take down the low level Idle Sky Pirate, who you should be more than familiar with by now. Next, head to the bottom of the board and fight the Ephemeral Summoner. Avoid its Diamond Dust attack, and try to keep the fight on the lower level where Tifa can more easily corner the Summoner for her close-range attacks.
Once you've taken down the Summoner, engage the Stigma of Chaos to end the gateway.
In the world map, immediately turn around and walk along the water until you reach the rock. Break it and cross the bridge to find a chest containing a Pink Tail accessory. Break the other rock to jump back across, browse the moogle shop, then continue forward through the empty gateway. You'll come to a blue gateway, which you can use to level up. We recommend being at least level 12 before continuing, with level 16 being ideal.
Past the blue gateway, you'll find a wandering Transient Witch. Take it out, then pick up 500 gil from the chest it was guarding. Ignore the gateway for now, and instead continue down the path to find a roaming False Stalwart. Once you knock it out, grab a BRV Zero skill from the chest it was guarding, then backtrack and return to the gateway.
When you're ready, jump into the Frozen Continent gateway.

Fleeting Flash | 4 |
Ephemeral Summoner | 1 |
Delusory Dragoon | 1 |
Imaginary Brawler | 4 |
Imaginary Brawler | 4 |
Fallacious Tree | 16 |
Ultimecia | 12 |
Inside the gateway, start with the Fleeting Flash and Ephemeral Summoner to your left. Both are low level and will go down easily, especially if you can keep them in the tighter corridors of the lower platform. Once they're both out of the way, take on the Delusory Dragoon and Imaginary Brawler at the top of the board. Again, these opponents are well below your level and should go down after some bravery attacks & Meteodrive action.
Move to the bottom of the board and dispatch yet another Imaginary Brawler, but leave the Potion alone for now. The Fallacious Tree on the right side of the board has the highest level of any enemy in this chapter, so we recommend only taking it on if you've spent some time grinding. The Tree teleports often and can be extremely hard to hit with Tifa's close range attacks, so try to go after it when it comes to the ground, but stay away at all other times, especially since it has several Near Opponent accessories equipped. This is also a great time to use Blizzard, Tifa's only long-range bravery attack. Once the Tree is gone, take Metal Knuckles from the chest it was guarding, use the Potion, and move to the statue at the top of the board to take on Ultimecia.
Ultimecia
Ultimecia is one of the easier bosses, but she can still hit hard if you aren't careful. If your EX Gauge is full, using EX Mode early can take her down entirely, or at least drastically reduce her HP. If you don't have a full EX Gauge, concentrate on keeping up with her. She moves around very often, and you'll find yourself chasing her to connect your close-range attacks. Stick to the strategy of waiting until she lands and you shouldn't have any trouble punching her to oblivion.
After the cutscene, walk forward and visit the moogle shop if you have KP you're looking to spend. Continue to the right and break the rock to jump across the bridge and take a BRV Charge skill from the treasure chest. Head past the blue gate and take down the wandering Transient Witch for a Rosetta Stone from the chest it's guarding, then visit the customization menu to trade it for an extra accessory slot. Use the blue gateway if you'd like, but as long as you're level 16 or higher, the chapter's final gateway shouldn't be too much of a challenge.
Past the blue gate, follow the icy path up the hill for a Pink Tail accessory from the chest in front of the locked gateway. Continue along the path through an empty gateway and you'll find yet another blue gateway that you can use to level up. Continue past it, browse another moogle shop if you'd like, then jump into the Ryukahn Gateway, the last one in this chapter.
Enemies Encountered | Level |
Fleeting Flash | 16 |
Delusory Dragoon | 11 |
Imaginary Brawler | 11 |
Ephemeral Summoner | 16 |
Chain Skill - The Ephemeral Summoner in the top left of the board can only be engaged using a chain skill since Kain is in the way. If you want to clear the board, use a skill if you have one, but otherwise, this opponent is unreachable.
Inside the gateway, begin with the Fleeting Flash to the left of your start position. The Flash will evade a lot, but corner it against a wall and jump in with Meteor Crusher for the quickest ending. After the battle, take a White Drop accessory from the gateway's lone chest and move to the Delusory Dragoon on the right side of the board.
The Dragoon's Jump attack can be annoying, so stick to the lower floor if possible to give it less room to maneuver. If you're repeatedly being pummeled, Meteor Crusher can make a good escape and counter. After the Dragoon, take on the Imaginary Brawler. This battle shouldn't offer any surprises, and the close quarters should give you plenty of opportunities to be aggressive and end this one quickly.
If you use a chain and fight the Ephemeral Summoner, you'll be in close quarters once again, so use them to your advantage and chase the Summoner as it moves, then follow your usual patterns. When you're finished, talk to Kain if you'd like, then move to the Stigma of Chaos. There's no boss in this level, so engage it to end the gateway.
After the cutscene, you're done. Good work! Chapter seven didn't even know what hit it.
