At Comic-Con International in San Diego, Marvel teamed up with its development partners to showcase upcoming Marvel Comics videogames, including Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, Iron Man 2, and Marvel Super Hero Squad. PlayStation 3 gamers in attendance were treated to a surprise announcement near the end of the presentation: Sony is partnering with Marvel to bring popular super hero costumes to LittleBigPlanet.

Three costumes were unveiled at the presentation: Wolverine, Iron Man, and Captain America. While they were instantly recognizable, these versions had that distinct hand-crafted LittleBigPlanet look to them, presenting a miniaturized, super-cute take on the popular characters.

Gerald says: LittleBigPlanet is the sort of game that needs all the customization options it can get. Expanding the costume options is a no-brainer, but fans specifically requested costumes based on specific brands. You don't get more recognizable outfits than those worn by the most popular Marvel Comics characters, so I expect that you'll see plenty of super-powered Sackboys and Sackgirls roaming around LittleBigPlanet in the near future.
