Growlanser: Generations (Deluxe Pack)

Working Design's GROWLANSER GENERATIONS DELUXE PACK contains GROWLANSER II: The Sense of Justice and GROWLANSER III: The Dual Darkness, two strategy RPGs full of game play and voice acting. Each game uses a customizable ring weapon system, allowing each character to equip three different gems with different properties. The hero of GROWLANSER II is Wein Cruz, a young ring weapon master. It's up to Wein and seven companions to protect the tenuous peace between three rival kingdoms. Recruiting some characters blocks the player from recruiting others and has an impact on the ending. There are also multiple storyline branches during the game, and at one point, Wein even has the option of completely abandoning his quest. GROWLANSER III jumps back 1,000 years to a world slowly dying. Slayn, a young amnesiac, is nursed back to health by Annette, daughter of the Federation President. With no memory of his past, he agrees to help her save her country from drought and invasion. With a limit of four characters in the battle party, battles now focus more on strategy and tactics. While the game play is similar to GROWLANSER II, there are a few new features: players can use items in battle, and characters can team up to cast more destructive joint spells. Both games continue the Working Designs tradition of releasing solid RPGs. Seasoned veterans of saving the world will enjoy the replay factor the multiple endings provide, and newcomers will quickly become immersed in the quick-paced plot and well-written storyline.

Features

Working Designs, a company known for their extra features, doesn't disappoint here. The Deluxe Package has everything the regular game has, plus more. Each game contains multiple endings and extra characters, so players will want to make use of the New Game Plus feature to see everything. After clearing the game, players can access the Extras menu and view character sketches and hear voice actor outtakes. The character sketches will be of particular interest to anime fans the character designs for both games were done by anime artist Satoshi Urushihara. The Deluxe Package has a heftier price, but there's a reason for that. The package includes a game-themed watch and case, a ring with chain and storage pouch, a deck of playing cards featuring art by Satoshi Urushihara, and a game soundtrack.
