Square Enix U.S.A. began shipping Front Mission 4 for the PlayStation 2 today in North America. The fourth title in this popular mech-themed (called Wanzers in the game) tactical turn-based role-playing strategy game draws players into a world full of military actions and political intrigue with a deep storyline that unfolds as gamers command wanzer squads through a wide variety of missions.

Front Mission 4 takes full advantage of the PS2 by offering an enhanced battle system, dramatic voiceovers, interesting characters, fully customizable wanzers, new tactical features such as the Link System (which allow pilots to link up with fellow squad members for powerful attacks)

The fourth title is set in 2096, six years after the Second Huffman Conflict, the battleground of the original Front Mission game. The game opens with an unidentified group of wanzers assaulting an E.C. German base and a new Durandal corps recruit named Elsa and her team sent to investigate. The story also focuses on another warrior named Darril, a U.C.S. Army sergeant in South America, whose company is sent to Venezuela in order to prevent secession. Though Darril's squad seems far more interested in slacking off than fighting a war, their plans for early retirement are put on hold after they witness a fateful plane crash in the jungle.

Front Mission 4 is available now for a suggested retail price of $49.99 (USD). You can learn a lot more about the game at www.square-enix-usa.com/games/fm4.
