This gets a bit whacky but bear with us. A video on YouTube has surfaced which appears to give a strong indication that Kojima Productions' mystery title is indeed Metal Gear related. The latest issue of Famitsu magazine sports an ad on the back page which when viewed through a webcam via the Kojima Productions' website produces an orange exclamation mark and a familiar-looking cardboard box appear.

Update: VG247 notes a second movie is now online (embedded below) which depicts another ad -- this time an orange can of soda with Ocelot's mug appears when viewed through the webcam site.

Various reports from around the net reckon that this bizarre and quite clever marketing stunt confirms what everyone is hoping for; a new Metal Gear title. Comments left on YouTube theorize that this "orange box" could even be a Metal Gear Solid collection or compilation, using Valve's Orange Box as inspiration.

It's all very cryptic, and frankly, more than a little confusing. Whatever Kojima's next project might be, the developer sure knows how to stir up a frenzy of speculation. At time of press, there's only about another 16 hours to wait to see what tease unfolds on the official "Next" website too.

Bryn says: I'm still scratching my head over this one. This is either one of the most brilliant, subtle marketing ploys ever devised or one of the most misleading viral Internet annoyances ever. I'm not sure which.

It would be awesome if Konami was indeed paying homage to Valve's excellent Orange Box compilation, but I think it's more likely that this does represent a whole new Metal Gear game. E3 will reveal all.
