The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (Enhanced Edition)

The second installment in the RPG saga about the Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, features a thoroughly engrossing, mature storyline defining new standards for thought-provoking, non-linear game narration. In addition to an epic story, the game features an original, brutal combat system that uniquely combines tactical elements with dynamic action.

A new, modern game engine, responsible both for beautiful visuals and sophisticated game mechanics puts players in this lively and believable world. A captivating story, dynamic combat system, beautiful graphics, and everything else that made the original Witcher such a great game are now executed in a much more advanced and sophisticated way.

The Enhanced Edition of The Witcher 2 adds a variety of extras on top of the blockbuster game release. Included is a soundtrack audio CD containing in-game music, a Quest Book for both novice and experienced role-playing fans, a World Map, and a detailed Game Manual. Also packed in are 3+ hours of new content and new gameplay and story elements.

Get Both Witcher Games for $17 at GOG.com

PC News | Jul 19, 2012

When I checked out the Steam Summer Sale this morning, I was happy to see that one of my favorite games of 2011, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, had been dropped to $16. More people get to play a great game, hooray! What a deal. But then, GOG.com went ahead and one-upped Valve. In a one-day only deal, you can snag both The Witcher and The Witcher 2 for a combined price of just under $17. Well played, GOG. Read More »

Witcher 2 Gets Cinematic Dev Diary, Full Enhanced Edition Change Log

PC News | Mar 25, 2012

102. That's how many fixes -- both large and small -- CD Projekt's making to the choking, sputtering innards of Geralt's otherwise excellent adventure. On the upside, a number of abilities have been rebalanced (Quen, especially, has gotten a "significant" nerf) and pretty much every graphical blemish has been polished clean. Also, "assorted animals" will now appear in the game world. Fingers crossed for a heartwarming kitten-raising minigame in which Geralt learns to laugh again. And also, the kitten turns out to be a two ton sabertooth death leopard. At any rate, you'll find the full list of changes here and here, and -- because I love you -- a developer diary about Enhanced Edition's cinematics after the break. Read More »

Fantastic Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition Trailer Shows Off New Features

PC News | Mar 19, 2012

Usually, I'm not a sucker for epic booming-orchestra-with-a-guitar-in-the-background-to-be-edgy fantasy trailers, but the latest snippet of Witcher 2's Enhanced Edition breathes life back into a stale format. You know, by killing everything. In the process, it shows off new characters, cut-scenes, locations, and touts an "extended outro" -- which, I'm sure, caused at least one or two Mass Effect developers to break down and have a good sob. Frankly, it all looks incredible. I don't know about you, but I'll definitely be replaying Witcher 2 when Enhanced Edition Superman-sword-leaps its way into existence on April 17 -- which is my birthday. Coincidence? Probably! At any rate, catch the full trailer after the break. Read More »

Witcher Dev Confirms Next-Gen Engine for Next Big Games, Teases Three Surprises in 2012/2013

PC News | Feb 17, 2012

There are things afoot at CD Projekt. What sorts of things? Well, witchy ones, primarily. Between what's almost certainly Witcher 3 and four other games of varying sizes, CD Projekt's load of projects that will probably appear on CDs has ballooned into quite the undertaking. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. And while the developer's not willing to start dropping names just yet, it's more than happy to dangle raw meat over the proverbial bear cage with all manner of winks and nods. Those bastards.
