The New Grunge
9:00 AMI'm a 90's kid. Let me date myself by saying I have the fondest of memories when it comes to watching the original My Little Ponies, Care Bears, Saved By The Bell, Boy Meets World, and yeah, I may have had a little crush on Joey Lawrence in Blossom. Woah!
There's just something about the ripped jeans, crop tops, and flannel galore that gives me the warm fuzzies. I've been noticing a ton of these items reappearing on my fall fashion radar so I thought it was worth creating a 90's inspired lookbook.
Here's my video on 3 ways to wear modernized 90's Grunge as well as a few items that totally scream "Smells Like Teen Spirit" to me.
A few items that have piqued my 90's-style interest:

ReplyDeleteWell you look adorable and I also grew up in the 90's so all these shows are very nolstagic for me and I can still picture Gwen Stefani jumping around on stage in crop tops with No Doubt fondly BUT I really don't like the grunge look at all. I think the 80's and the 90's were such a weird time for fashion, but whereas in the 80's everything felt more fun grunge just feels slightly depressing and sad to me. I mean this was the age of the Smashing Pumpkins where being depressed was super cool. Lol I just can't get there...even in a modernized form. But again I will say you pull it off beautifully :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha I agree about the not-fun depressing part. It's funny but I actually associate that time with watching really happy shows on tv. Wasn't a fan of the dreary music scene since I was busy playing with My Little Ponies. ;)
DeleteAnd seriously No Doubt!!!! I was a little obsessed with Gwen Stefani in that Tragic Kingdom period. :)
I miss the 90s!!! The shows were the best! Cartoons, Sitcoms, you name it, they're just not the same anymore. I was a HUGE baggy clothes offender back in the 90s, partly because I wore big brother's hand me downs. But I remember the grunge music scene, I like some of that music, but I was big on the Battle of the Boy Bands, R&B and I absolutely loved the pop music scene. I saw a mention of No Doubt, and I'm STILL in love with Gwen, she's beautiful and a timeless beauty! I loved anything she wore that was neon!
ReplyDeleteOMG I almost forgot about 90s R&B! Do you remember that Brandy & Monica duet? Soooo much nostalgia!
Deletethe boy is mineee!!!

I love this post. There are so many trends from the 90's that have come back in style. My favorite 90's trend is the crop top.
