About

Emily Shopp is a Chicago-based print artist working with copper etching, woodcut relief printing, textiles, and collage. Having engaged with nature to cope with her own anxiety and depression, her work examines the interplay between nature and mental health. She begins with the collection and study of found objects and translates them into a visual language of abstracted natural forms. Her practice allows her to process, cope with, and analyze her own experiences. She hopes that her work can construct a calming, meditative environment for viewers to do the same.
