Formula One's Top Teams Going Crazy with Their Design for 2017

Formula One's top teams are going crazy with their design for 2017 and we love it. First, Mercedes found a "loophole"in the regulations and came up with a T-wing mounted at the engine cover (not seen in the picture below). And now Ferrari, unveils its 2017 which features not only another interesting engine cover mounted wing, but a very radical side pod design. The two new features, alongside lots of new small details made us nearly forget about the nose tip that continues to be a trend for 2017 cars...

I don't know about you, but this makes me really (finally) excited about the new season. 29 days to go until Melbourne!

F1 Telemetry for Rookies by Sauber F1 Team

This year's Formula 1 might not be very popular among some fans due to lack of engine noise or the low front noses. But it's one of the most interesting in years from a technical point of view. Today's F1 cars rely more than ever on telemetry. And we've already seen with Nico Rosberg earlier this year that racing without telemetry can have a huge impact on the speed of the driver.

During a race weekend, no less than 30 GB gigabytes of data is sent by the cars to the pit wall. This huge amount of information can be very useful especially for struggling teams who can rely on them to improve their cars between the races. The Sauber F1 team invites you for a full onboard lap where you can monitor by your self the different system variables sent by the car's 140 sensors like steering position, engine RPM, gear, clutch, individual wheel speed, position on the circuit and much more.

Thank you Sauber F1 team, and keep them coming!

Is this how F1 will become louder?

Tomorrow, Mercedes AMG Petronas will be testing its "trumpet" solution to make this year's turbo V6 engines louder. Mercedes says that the new solution will bring the noise level between last year's V8 engines and the current turbo V6. But don't expect a miracle.

Next month, the whole world will be watching the 24 hours Le Mans and I don't think that the quiet diesel hybrid engines will change that...

Remember Senna...

20 Years ago, the racing world was hist by a tragedy that changed Formula 1 forever. Let us all remember Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger who lost their lives during the 1994 San Marino Gran Prix, the blackest race weekend ever.

"Remember Senna" tribute by McLaren:

Why Mercedes Will Very Possibly Dominate the Whole 2014 Season [VIDEO]

Not what the actual power unit looks like.

Mercedes-Benz might have created a revolutionary power unit that might even have a huge impact on future road cars. The idea is simple, so simple that no body has thought of it before! And due to the new regulations, other teams won't have the ability to copy Mercedes because there's an engine freeze before the season. And even if they could, it will take them a huge amount of time, since the new solution requires a lot of changes to the chassis and the aero of the car.

I was going to explain the thing in my own words, but the Sky Sports video after the jump gets the job done so perfectly.
This is How Complex This Year's F1 Power Units are

Watch this very complete presentation to understand how complex this year's Formula 1 power units have become. We can only hope that we won't have too many race retirements due to technical issues now that the power units are packing up more technology than ever.

Very interesting season ahead..
Red Bull Racing RB10 Revealed

Red Bull revealed the first pictures of the RB10 F1 car. And it seems that they went the same route as Toro Rosso and Williams. It's a little bit worrying because if Red Bull did, there's a good chance it's going to be the right way to go. At least they did their best to hide the malformation..

First Pictures of the Williams FW36

Williams revealed the first official renders of their FW36 Mercedes V6 Turbo Powered F1 car for the 2014 season. The car was revealed wearing Williams's heritage testing livery and if you were disappointed by the look of last season's step noses, you're going to be disappointed even more by this year's cars..

Aussie Grit Wants Ferrari at Le Mans

Fan made Ferrari LMP1 Prototype

Now that Le Mans is attracting top F1 drivers again and that F1 rules are becoming more and more restrictive. Prototype racing has become an attractive Formula, even for top F1 teams like Ferrari. Which explains why Luca Di Montezemolo recently declared that a Le Mans return is a possibility for Ferrari and needs some serious consideration. The Ferrari Chief was quoted saying: "who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home, [...] Maybe we should give it some consideration".

And today, Mark Webber who already joined Porsche for its 2014 LMP1 project, came up with a crazy idea that could not be too far from reality if you think about it:

This is nothing serious of course, but it seems that Mark is willing to bring the rest of the F1 paddock to Le Mans (except Seb?). You should follow him, he has things to say.
Kimi and Alonso To Get LaFerrari if they win The 2014 F1 Title

In order to motivate you, your boss might promise you a good position with a great salary at the end of the year. If you are still studying, your key motivation is the career of your dreams. But if you happen to be a Ferrari F1 driver, which means that you already have the career of your dreams, you get a totally different sort of motivation. The latest rumors suggest that Ferrari will build an extra LaFerrari for Fernando Alonso or Kimi Räikkönen if one of them wins the 2014 Formula 1 driver's Championship. Lucky!
Kimi to Miss the Last two Races of The Season

Kimi Räikkönen will not be able to take part in the last two races of the season (USA and Brasil) as he will be undergoing back surgery in Austria. The injury goes back to 2001 but it seems that Kimi has been suffering during the last two races in India and Abu Dhabi and he chose not to take part in the remaining two races in order to be ready in time for the next season where he will be switching to the Scuderia Ferrari.

Let's try to avoid the speculations and wish Kimi a speedy recovery. Besides, the fact that he recently expressed his enthusiasm for racing in the States again strengthens the idea that the Finn is doing this due to health concerns. But on the other hand, we also know that Kimi recently visited Maranello to meet his new boss and take the seating measures and that he still hasn't been paid by Lotus this season...

The replacement driver's name has not been determined yet but rumors started to emerge that last year's GP2 champion and Lotus current reserve driver Davide Valsecchi could be ready to take Kimi's seat this weekend.

Mathematically, the Lotus driver might drop from third to sixth in the championship if he misses the last two races. But we also know that third or sixth doesn't make a big difference for him. He just wants to be the champ!

You might find a faster McLaren race car for sale, but you won't find a cooler one fore sure! Why? because this is James Hunt’s 1977 McLaren M26 in which he won three races during the 1977 season. The car will be sold at the Charlotte Convention Center Auction that will take place between October 31st and November 3rd and it's expected to hit more than $1.5 million.

Here's Your Chance to Buy a Lamborghini Powered F1 Car!

Currently on Ebay there's a Lamborghini powered Formula 1 car (possibly the only remaining example of three built) with which Minardi competed in the 1992 season. The Italian Minardi Team, who competed in the sport for two decades wasn't really successful but it was the starting point of some of today's most brilliant drivers like Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso. But that also means that this F1 car is not out of reach as for $200k you will be able to purchase your 3.5 Lamborghini V12 powered Minardi M191L that produces more than 700 Hp!

Williams FW35 Revealed

The new Williams FW35 is clearly one of the most beautiful cars of this year's grid. But let's hope it's much quicker than last year's car even though the FW34 managed to offer the team their long awaited win with Maldonado at the wheel.. Now that we have a complete lineup of 2013 F1 cars, we can sit down, relax and look forward to a another great season.

Seems like we've missed the on line reveal of the new STR8 by Scuderia Toro Rosso. But STR released this clip featuring Daniel Ricciardo and Jean Eric Vergne with the 2013 STR8. No stepped nose for the STR8 and hugely revised side pods just like the majority of the teams. It's a beautiful car, so we hope they will recover from a deceiving 2012 season.
