Washi Tape Challenge: Two Cards & a Kid's Craft Box by Courtney Lee

Hello everyone! I hope you have been enjoying all the awesome washi tape projects that the DT have been doing! Courtney Lee from Court's Crafts here with a few more!

For this first card I wanted to use a bunch of washi tape from the Cream and Sugar collection that I was in LOVE with but didn't get to use on my original projects with this collection. So I grabbed it and had this idea of making "confetti" out of it.

The chevron was half size washi tape so it took two of those side by side to make it the same size as the others.

I just cut white squares out and covered them with the washi and then popped them as desired with dimensional tape.

I added some heart shape sprinkles, sequins, and stickers and voila! Ready to send to someone I love!

I bought these cute cases for the girls so they would (ahem) stop fighting over craft supplies. Best $2.99 I have spent yet!

I grabbed Emmaline's and added her name using the new Abigail font on this awesomely bright rainbow washi tape. Isn't the Abigail font perfect!? It might be my most favorite font ever.

How cute is that?!

My last card was actually my first idea. I wanted to make a "present" out of the washi tape.

I was originally intending it to be clean and simple and then kept adding and adding and LOVED it. I had it on an embossed white background with this awesome glitter paper as a border but just had to have more sparkle!

I added this cute gingerbread man and the word, "Sweet" from the Milk and Cookies Odds and Ends. This is one of those cards that looks so much cuter in person. I cannot wait to send it out!

I hope you enjoyed my projects! How do you love to use your washi tape?! Please share with us on the doodlebug facebook page

Washi Tape Challenge: Christmas Tree Layout by Wendy Sue Anderson

Hi Doodlebug Friends!  It's Wendy Sue here today, sharing my take on the Washi Tape Challenge!  I couldn't wait to create a fun tree for last year's Christmas PJ's layout.  Here's a look at the completed page, but keep reading for more details!

I started by cutting a Christmas Tree shape out of white cardstock.  I used the same piece of cardstock for my layout base.  After I added a piece of patterned paper, the spot where the tree was cut out is covered up.  Here's a look at the back.  You could actually create a fun layout right on this side too!

Anyway, back to the tree.  After I cut out the simple tree shape, I started adding strips of washi tape.  I didn't want it to get too busy, so I alternated two different designs.  You can either trim off the edges, or fold them to the back.  I did a little bit of both.  After the front was covered, I added lots of coordinating glitter sprinkles and made a make-shift pot to put the tree in.  I added it to the layout with foam adhesive squares for a bit of depth.

Don't you just love these new "Abigail" letter stickers?  I sure do!  They worked perfectly for my title, and I used a sticker (again on foam squares) with a heart shaped clip for the subtitle.

I wanted to keep the page pretty simple so the focus could stay on the photos and the big tree, but I had to add a few embellishment clusters like this one with stickers and enamel sprinkles.

And, of course, another bit of washi tape here on the bottom:

So...how about you?  What's your favorite way for using washi tape?!? I challenge YOU to make an oversized tree for your next layout!

Washi Tape Challenge: Birthday Centerpiece by Jennifer Beason

Hello Doodlebug fans!  Jennifer here with my take on the washi tape challenge. I know washi tape has been around forever, but to be honest, I haven't really done much with, it until now. Since I have a couple of birthday's coming up this month. I decide to combine the challenge with a birthday centerpiece, I was planning to make.
Rainbow Stripe and Swiss Dot washi tapes, were used along with some Pixies and stickers to create fancy birthday flags.
Here you can see, I used an assortment of Candy Stripe tapes to outline the star on the lion's balancing ball.
  • To create the ball, a 3" paper mache ball was painted teal.
  • A star was then cut out of patterned paper and mod podged onto the ball.
  • Next, each point of the star was outlined with a different colored tape. Mod podge was used to seal.
  • Once the ball was dry, I used a low tack tape to mask off the star.
  • The rest of the ball was covered with glue and glitter was applied.
  • When the ball was dry, I removed the mask.
  • Next, some twine was glued around the edge of the star.
  • A chipboard star and button were then glued to the center of the star to embellish.
  • Mod Podge was used to seal the entire ball.
Here are a few more close ups of the finished project.
The lion's head was made out of chipboard and his body from a Christmas ornament.
Small vinyl letters and the number three were added to a chipboard circle to personalize.
A wood box was used for the base of the project. Lots of fun patterned papers and stickers from the Hello Sunshine collection were used to cover and embellish the box.
Hope you have enjoyed my take on the washi challenge. Jennifer
