Fast, Easy & Elegant

Well my friends, it's almost too late for those Christmas Cards but if you are in a pinch and need something in a hurry, you are in luck.  It's S@ndy here with a last minute card that can save the day!
This card can be put together in minutes and what's even better than that?  I used paper from my scrap pile.

Here we go-

The finished size of this card is 5.5" X 4.25".  Begin with 8.5" by 5.5" then score and fold in the center.

Using the Festive Glow die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD) - cut the candle base.  1 decorative candle layer.  1 each of the flames and 6 greenery pieces.  1 bow - not shown.

Using the ECD Stitched Ovals - cut one oval to fit card, shown in white.
Using the ECD Dotted Scalloped Oval - cut 1 coordinating oval.

Layer scalloped oval on stitched oval and add to front of card.

Begin by adding candle base to ovals with 2 pieces of greenery under candle.

Add decorative candle piece to base and continue to add the rest of the greenery.

Assemble bow and add to greenery in the center.

Ok, how easy was that?
Hope you have enjoyed and will try it,
S@ndy

Merry Christmas Pop-up Tree

Hi fellow crafters,

The holidays are officially here and what better symbol of the season than the Christmas Tree?  It's Sandy here with you today to share a fun Pop-up Christmas Tree from the fabulous collection by Karen Burniston.  All the fun of a pop-up is on the inside of the card so I kept the front simple.
Let's start with the fun part!

I have step by step photos to share with you but you can see a Video Tutorial by

The finished size of this card is 6" square.  Cut base of card 12" X 6" and crease in the center.
I like using double sided paper for this.

Using the Pop-up Tree die set - place the tab die on the fold with the point of the triangle pointing to the bottom of the card and send through the die cutting machine.
Cut the large trees once.
Cut the small tree twice.
Cut one tree base - shown in brown
Cut star for tree top - optional.
A gold circle for an ornament is shown here and I used it on the front of the card.  I cut three smaller ones as shown below.  However, I only used two when it was all said and done.
Using the Ring Accordion die set, cut ornament tops.
Cut two panels that are 5.75" X 3.25 - not shown, red was used here.
Cut two panels that are 5.5" X 3" and emboss - not shown, white was used here.

The order in which the card is assembled is completely up to the card maker and I chose to add the side panels before adding the tree.

Layer the two panels and then add ornaments with twine or ribbon.
Assemble tree trunk and attach to tabs.
Next add the tree to the trunk as shown in the video HERE
The die set comes with a decorative die but red epoxy dots were added.
Top off with the star.

When this card was finished I felt it still needed something so added the doily by cutting the doily in half and cutting a triangle in the center to fit around the tree trunk.  It worked - but my advice would be to add it before the tree and use a smooth paper.  The doily looks lovely but can be a catch point when the card is opened and closed.

For the card front cut a panel that is 5.5" square (shown in red) and then layer another panel that is cut at 5" square and embossed (shown in white)  I used the gold circle to make an ornament and then used the twine as on the inside of the card.  Use the Ring Accordion die for the ornament.

Using Word Set 3 from Karen Burniston, cut Season's Greetings and glue to ornament.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS,
S@ndy

Warm Winter Thoughts

Hi Dies R Us Friends,

It's S@ndy here, Thanksgiving is behind us for another year and now it's time to get all that decorating and shopping done.  Once in awhile it's nice to just kick back and take a break from all the madness.  My card today is a good reminder to do just that, breath!

What makes this card fun is that it's an easel card.  When open, a battery operated tea light fits behind the flames and makes them flicker.

This is a 5.5" square easel card.
Cut card base 11" X 5.5".  Placing long edge at top of scoring board, score at 5.5" and 2.75".
Cut another panel that is 5.5" square. (shown in gray strips)
Cut one piece of black cardstock that is 3.5" square.
Cut one piece of vellum that is 3.5" square.
Cut one piece of coordinating paper for the words.

Using the Hang the Christmas Stockings die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs(ECD) - cut all pieces.
Using the ECD Stitched Rectangles cut - cut one rectangle that is 4.75" X 3.5".
Using the ECD Dotted Scallop Rectangle die - cut the coordinating size to fit the larger rectangle.

Place double sided adhesive to back of panel that will be used for the words, ECD clear double sided adhesive was used here.

Using the ECD Warm Thoughts die - cut by placing die on paper side.  When you remove the adhesive from the back, it will be a sticker.

Layer the panels together as shown above and add words.  Set aside.

Add the 5.5" (gray) panel to the bottom section of the card making sure not to cross over the first score line.  It should look like the photo on the left, above.

Lay the card out flat and place a rectangle die as shown above - run through die cutting machine cutting through 2 panels.  Be sure that this cut out a little wider than the fireplace mantel but not taller.

Assemble mantel by gluing decorative piece in place.

Glue the black panel on the back of the mantel making sure it is even along the bottom.
Using the larger flame in the die set, place in center of black panel and run through die cutting machine.
Trim away any excess on the bottom so it is open.

Place mantel on front panel of the card. The die set comes with a narrow strip to add to the bottom but I later changed that for a longer one that went across the entire card.

Using the vellum panel, cut smaller flame and color with ink or markers.  Using the same colors - color the remaining vellum panel.  It doesn't have to be neat.

Place vellum panel on the back so the color shows through the flame opening.

Add small flame to the front.

Assemble stockings.

Hang stocking on the mantel.

Using the ECD Berry Branch die, cut one branch and add berries.  Nuvo drops were used here but use what ever you have in your stash.

Cut branch into smaller sections and add to top of mantel.

Don't forget to take a break from all those holiday activities and BREATH!!
