Senate GOP divided on filibusters – Burgess Everett and Seung Min Kim – POLITICO

“I saw senior members arguing against themselves,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) of the meeting. He favors moving the voting threshold back to 60 votes — but he may be outnumbered.

While no clear consensus emerged inside the Senate’s Strom Thurmond Room, Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) said the “prevailing view” was to keep things as is. And that crowd gained a forceful advocate on Tuesday afternoon as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said he favors keeping the lower, 51-vote threshold.

“I think it was a mistake when Harry Reid broke the Senate rules to change the Senate rules,” Cruz told reporters. “But once it’s done, I don’t think we should go back. I don’t think there should be one rule for Democrats and one rule for Republicans.”

Fuck Senator Lindsey Graham.  Along with Mitch McConnell and John  McCain, Graham is one of the three senators I’d cast a ballot for their Democrat opponent if that’s what it took to remove them from office.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.
