Obama Can Put Away His Veto Pen – Bloomberg View
There are two ways to bypass the filibuster. One would be to simply vote to restrict or abolish it, which Senate Republicans are highly unlikely to do: They want to keep the procedure in case they end up back in the minority, they’ve made many statements in support of it that would be embarrassing to ignore, and Senator Mitch McConnell — the likely new majority leader — seems to have an almost romantic attachment to it.
Well, sure: The Snitch’s default position is supine, on his back, in the minority. He’s used to it. It’s no big deal to him if it happens again. Better than than being forced to drag his snout out of the trough.
Expect to hear a lot of “Well, we did the best we could, but that damned Dem filibuster…” coming out of the GOP over the next two years.
