3D modeling and rendering, motion tracking, and even the distribution of this video were for all intents and purposes, near impossible just a decade ago unless you had massive computing power and money. The 3D stuff that was available for the desktop user back then simply was ‘toy-like’ in comparison.
Now, you can run Maya, Lightwave, 3D Studio Max, and Cinema 4D on practically any hardware you have for only a few grand. If you’re cheap like me, there’s Blender which is free and not too shabby. And the results you can get are only limited to your skill.
In another decade, when both my little girls are in high school, I can only imagine the level of sophistication the software they’ll have at their disposal. If I’m lucky, I’ll still be writing it 😉
