Fall Front Porches, Yard Sale Treasures
Have you gotten your porch, stoop, or entryway ready for fall yet? I am trying to hold off buying mums, pumpkins, corn stalks, etc. for a few more days because I'm trying not to rush things. But I can't stop thinking about it! I'm sure you've seen most of these but I thought I'd share some of my favorite fall porches!
Pin from the original source please!!
Ok, so I'm shamelessly self promoting my front porch from last year. Guess having a blog is shameless self promoting too. So now I don't feel badly about showing off my little stoop display.

Chevron Lamp Makeover: Katie {Did} It
Every so often one of my favorite things happens. Someone sees my little "Get Featured" button, clicks on it, emails me with some fantastic project they have completed, and then they allow me to share it on my blog. I find this so fun and exciting because I love getting to know you all in a way other than "Great job! Love the colors you used!" The other day Katie at Katie{Did} It emailed me this awesome lamp makeover and I am so happy to have her today as a guest blogger to show us how she did it! Didn't she do a great job? I love the colors she used! (ha ha ha! couldn't resist. well, it's true too.)
Happy Monday!
She went to a local church today for vacation bible school. The theme is the Gospels according to E.T. Yup, that's right, the movie. I was a bit like "whuh?" but then the pastor said she would heavily edit the movie (thank goodness) and then reminded us all that it is the ultimate Good Samaritan story. Ahhhhh. Light bulb moment. Anyway, I have only seen that movie one time and I will never see it again. I cried for a week straight when I saw it as a child! I even got a little choked up when Molly and I were talking about it in the car on the way home. I can't even think about that little creature being lost so far from home. OMGosh. Moving on.
I am in the middle of some projects. Nothing big. Just crafty bizniz. You know me and crafts. eh.
See you around the blog block!
Oh and here is a great blog for toddler activities. It's called Play Create Explore and she has a ton of art, sensory, and pretend play ideas. A lot of these we used in Kindergarten when I was teaching and I forget to do this stuff with my own kids! This is a great reminder!
here are some images from her activities!

Favorite Beginner-ish Sewing Tutorials
Happy Almost 4th of July! Do you have plans? We are having a bbq at my sister's house and who knows what else! Enjoy your day and God Bless America!
I have been a sewing FIEND lately! I recently sewed a skirt and a pillowcase dress for Molly and I'm hoping to make a matching dress for Ellie. I can't wait to show you all!
I'm sew (heh heh) proud of myself, to be totally honest. I have always had a strong interest in sewing but never knew how to get started. Well now in the age of the world wide web you can really teach yourself to do anything if you find the right tutorials! So I study the ones I like the best and see how real sewers handle craziness like armholes and fasteners. I thought I'd share some of my favorites and the ones I have found the most useful! Being the mom of girls, most of what I am interested in are skirts and dresses. Sorry if this doesn't work for you!
Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom has some of my absolute favorites.
Great beginner simple skirt tutorial!
I love this tiered pillowcase dress because she has great directions on how to use bias tape. Always wondered what that could be used for!
This playground skirt is a clear and easy tutorial to make a skort with store bought shorts. Such a great idea for those of us who have little girls who refuse to wear anything but skirts and dresses.
I made my first pillowcase dress today and this is the tutorial I used. She has opened my eyes up to the world of top stitching. It keeps your seams flat in the back and looks much nicer in the front.
I couldn't capture an image but trust me. Her curtains are lovely and look just like this expensive Pottery Barn version! She teaches you how to make and layer ruffles.
This fat quarter baby skirt is a good basic skirt tutorial but I used it to learn how to make and secure a sash to a garment.
This is what I've been studying to make the girls' some custom bed skirts. It contains a simple method for keeping the skirt attached to the bed.
So there you have it. These are the tutorials I come back to again and again. If you have any other good ones please share!
Cheers!
