More awards & something funny...

I have an assortment of things to post about today.  We have been home just about a week.  I know that I was a bit secretive about where I was but the photo at the top of this post will give you a good hint(!).  I recently read about sites that post information about people who are away from home and our neighbors had their car broken into the day before we left, so I was trying to be discreet.

I spent a lot of time today making sure that I had backed up everything I need to before stripping my computer and starting to reinstall everything tomorrow night.  I found that I still haven't caught up with all of the emails... but I am trying.  If you had something that you were in a hurry to find out about, do not hesitate to email me again so I will be more likely to see your request.

I want to acknowledge some awards that have been sent to me recently.

First, the Beautiful Blogger award from Susan at Busy with the Cricky .  You can see the information about this award at THIS POST  and read some interesting things that Susan shares about herself - I found out that we must be secret sisters since four of the things she shared about herself could have been written by me (I'll let you guess which ones!).  She has passed the award on to a wonderful list of bloggers so you will want to check them out too.

Next I received this award from Clare at CricutCraftyClare.  You can find out more about the award at THIS POST.  Clare has been doing lots of lovely Design Studio designs - I used to email with her when she needed help but she has taken off and makes lots of wonderful projects with her Design Studio.  If you read her post you will find out what she wants to be doing in ten years - I am still thinking about that one!

I was doubly awarded next - this award is from Brenda at Bug-Bitten Disney Fanatic and you can see all of the people that Brenda chose for this award at THIS POST

I also received this award from GrammaP at GrammaP's Scrapping Spot.  Sheila is one of the few online friends that I have actually had a chance to meet in person - she lives only a couple of hours away from me.  You can see who she sent the award too at THIS POST.

This royal award comes from Pam at The Bug Bytes. I appreciate the "crowning"  (I'll have to get out my tiara from my Adult Ballet Class to serve as a substitute!).  Pam is also a queen of the Gypsies and was just made a "Bug Guide" on the Cricut Message Board.  You can see a little more about this award at THIS POST.

I have been so consumed with putting my digital life back in order that I did not have a chance to do all of the lists and other requirements for these awards.  If I can find the time, I will add to this post but I hope you will read the lists from the people who sent these to me and find out about some blogs and artists that may be new to you.  I will also share some more photos from our trip soon - I even have a little prize or two for a couple of lucky regular readers.

There are a few more things I want to share.  I just bought this paper stack at Michael's last weekend.  It seems that the birds, birdhouses and tree themes are everywhere right now.  I have started a few projects with this patterned cardstock and it is soo cute!  It is a bit smaller than the stacks you usually get from DCWV with 36 sheets instead of 48.

This had to be the bargain of the century - a bulk bag of binder clips "marked down" from $9,999.90 to $3.50!  I imagine it is some sort of computer programming issue but it certainly made me laugh!

That's all for right now but I will be sharing an exciting opportunity - having to do with "red velvet" - a little later on Thursday.  You won't want to miss this chance for some great prizes!

So Many Awards -Thanks!

I am honored to have received quite a few blog awards over the last week or so.  I tried to get organized to acknowledge them all and found some older ones that I hadn't had a chance to acknowledge - so here is a great big award post!

The Beautiful Blogger Award came from the following people:

Audrey at Cute and Some

The Happy 101 award came from:

The Sunshine Blog Award came from

Cheryl at Cheryl's Window

Brigit at Brigit's Scraps

JeanneLee at My Tinhair Musings sent this Over the Top award a while ago - sorry it took me some time to catch up with it.

The One Lovely Blog Award came from

Masked Marauder at Masked Marauder Creations

Laurinda at A Moment in Time

KarelJ also sent this I Love Your Blog Award

Whew!  It is a more than a little overwhelming to receive all of these awards - I apologize to some of you for not acknowledging them right away.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can possibly do all of the lists of fun facts, answer the questions and all of the other requirements for the awards.  Between the fire in our neighborhood and the nasty cold/flu I have had I am just trying to keep up with all of my commitments, including the daily post here that most of you expect.

Please take some time to visit these bloggers and see what they have been doing.  There are so many great sources of inspiration in the blogging community.  I am always amazed at what I find if I get a chance to browse around.

I appreciate all of the people who read my blog, subscribe and follow.  You are all worthy of an award, so if you have not received any in this round of blog awards going around right now, please choose an award, go to the blog of the person  that gave it to me to see what it is all about and start your own wave of awards.  I am sure you will find many interesting things once you start following all of the links.

Thanks again to everyone who sent me an award - I am honored that you thought of me.

Be sure to check back a little later Thursday morning to see my projects for the Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot Sweet Treats Thursday.  You will be doing a bit of blog hopping to see all of the projects the Design Team came up with for our St. Patrick's Day theme- have fun!

Happy National Craft Month!

I completely forgot to say "Happy National Craft Month" yesterday.  There are lots of exciting things happening this month - new products are being released, many companies and sites are having fantastic giveaways and contests, local stores will be having special classes and demonstrations and I have a few surprises up my sleeve as well.  I'll tell you more about at least one of them very soon....

You won't want to miss all of the great things happening over at the Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot this month.  You can win a fabulous prize package including the new and limited edition raspberry pink Cuttlebug signed by Jinger Adams from Provo Craft.  Click this LINK to go to the post with a video by Maggie showing all of the goodies that one lucky Cuttlebug Challenge Blogspot follower will win.

You also have a chance to win a spot at the "Cropping with the Stars" crop in Pensacola, Florida.  Design Team member Kathy Orta was the Grand Prize Winner and is offering one lucky follower a chance to attend this very special event.  The winner will be announced on Friday, March 6th, so hurry to enter.  You can get all of the details at THIS POST.

I want to say thank you to all of the people who have sent me blog awards recently - there have been several and I will do a post listing and thanking everyone soon (and also nominating some other blogs to receive the awards).  I am still under the weather (and getting a bit grumpy about it!).  When I went to the doctor yesterday about the vertigo they gave me an H1N1 Flu shot and, unfortunately, I am having some side effects.  They should resolve in a day or two...fingers crossed!

Class updates, some more awards and a sneak peek...

Jen and I have been busy teaching Design Studio classes. We started out with just the basics (101 class) for Design Studio beginners and have now added a Basic Card class. We will continue to add more topics as we work through the requests and will develop each new class to make these lessons as helpful as possible for those who are trying to figure out all the ways Design Studio can expand their creative potential with the Cricut.

We have had some great feedback and we are working to take suggestions for new classes into account. The unique feature of these classes is that they are live - we are online sharing our computer screens with the students so they can see exactly "How to Do that" and ask questions in real time. We will continue to develop new classes - if you have a specific topic in mind, please email either of us. If you have time constraints for attending, please let us know your time zone and what time of day works for you and we will try to accommodate everyone at some point over the summer months. Some of the more advanced classes will be project specific and include .cut files and project instructions.

The Basic Card class does include some files and other resources. Our Thursday class is nearly full (it may be totally full by the time you read this) but there are still some openings in the Friday class at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Click on the blog banner at the top of this post or at the top of the side column to see all the details and instructions for signing up for a class.

I am feeling very "awarded" these days - I have gotten several comments and notices about blog awards that people have sent me and I didn't want to let more time go by without acknowledging them.

Thanks to Rosy for this award - here is a LINK to her blog.

Thanks to Barb (Snowmanlover) who sent me this award - here is a LINK to her blog.

Thanks also to krazykropper for this award - here is a LINK to her blog

More thanks to Diane M or lostgrl16 also for this award - here is a LINK to her blog

Thanks again to Linda or Lilgreenbug also for this award - here is a LINK to her blog

There is a lot of "Honest Scrap" going around!

In receiving notice of these awards, I realized that I wasn't sure if I ever completed the process of notifying the bloggers I passed awards along to last month. I will try to find time tomorrow to catch up. Here is a LINK to the post with all of those awards.

I thank everyone who sends me these awards - it is getting to the point where I find it difficult to keep track and promptly pass along awards and I think it would be great if you could find a newer blogger who needs some encouragement when you have one of these awards to pass along. Just having people read and comment on my blog is award enough for me! Thank you.

Finally, here is a sneak peek at one of my designs that will be shared on another site very soon - more details about that in a day or so.

Awards - Part Two

As promised, today I am passing along all of the awards that have been sent to me recently. I will try to comply with all of the "rules" but, most importantly, I will share links to some wonderful blogs I know you will enjoy browsing through when you have some time.

First, this Kreativ Blogger award from Heather. Her post says that I should share a few things about myself and pass the award along to seven other bloggers.

A few things about myself - I have shared a lot lately but here are some things you probably don't know. I grew up on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania, all of my childhood pets had "human" names (Mark, Rosemary and Coco), our family had a tandem bike (bicycle built for two) which was a lot of fun to ride, my first plane ride was at the age of 16 when my high school Concert Choir went to Germany, and I was once in a promotional movie for the Sears catalog!

Here are the seven blogs I am nominating

1. Sandy from Ukiah

2. Koala-t Kreations

3. Ruelysi Creative Cards

4. I love Pretty Paper

5. The Daily Scrapper

6. Cricut Creations by Amkscrap

7. Diva in Pink's Thoughts and Ideas

This Kreativ Blogger award came from three people - Cindy Lou, Laurinda and Sue. The rules for this award are listed HERE (in the part one post).

I am going to fudge a bit and list one set of "seven things about you people might find interesting" and send the award to the same list of seven blogs in response to all three awards.

Seven Things (totally random):

1. I collect many things (in addition to papercrafting tools and supplies!) - art glass paper weights, green pottery, Santas, enamel boxes, etc., etc.

2. I had never used a PC until a couple of years ago when I got an HP laptop with Windows XP in order to be able to use the Creative Memories software for photo organization (Memory Manager) and digital scrapping (StoryBook Creator Plus). I was happy to have the laptop when Design Studio came out since it was also PC only. I still use my Mac for lots of other things, so I guess I am "bi-lingual" in computers(!)

3. I have two older sisters and a younger brother and we are all four years apart - each born in a leap year (do you think my parents were doing some college planning?)

4. I love to shop at garage sales, antique markets and rummage sales and I always seem to find a "treasure" or two...that's why my house is so full!

5. I love to read - all sorts of books - and I have belonged to some sort of book club for most of my adult life in all of the various places we have lived (we have moved over a dozen times since we were married but are settled now - this summer it will be nine years in one place!)

6. I hate to vacuum - I have never found a machine I like as well as the one I had to leave behind in England when we moved back to the US (due to the different current) - I have four machines of various types and still have a craft room floor covered with paper scraps!

7. I have never been on a cruise but would love to try one someday - maybe for our 30th Anniversary!

Seven Blogs:

1. Creations with Christina

2. Going Buggy

3. Monkey Doodle Cricut

4. BCR8IV

5. It's just me, Heather

6. 100 Things (Maybe More)

7. TeriBeri

Leslie sent this award - once again, you can see the full description of the award HERE.
I need to nominate fifteen blogs for this award...

1. Century Studios

2. The Oz Enthusiast

3. A Concord Carpenter Comments

4. Imagine That

5. Kisatrtle's Kreative Korner

6. Scrappindad's Scribbles

7. Paper Hugs

8. A Place to BE HAPPY

9. Obsessed with Scrapbooking

10. Courtney Lane Designs

11. Paper Creations by Nilda

12. Creative Liberties

13. Scraps 4 Fun

14. Bird Scrap

15. Paper, Scissors, Ink

Brandy sent this award - the rules are posted HERE - for this one I need to nominate five blogs - here they are!

1. Confessions of a Scrapaholic

2. Snowman Lover's Paperie

3. BettyBee's Buzz

4. Busy with the Cricky

5. TLC Design

Etha sent me this award and it is to go to people I think show great attitude and gratitude - here are my nominees.

1. Amy at Scrapping Mommy

2. Dawn at Froggaritaville

3. Brenda at Brens Designs

4. Kay at Clever Someday

5. Narelle at Cricut Lovers Guide to Design Studio

Finally, both of these awards were given to me by Linda - the first one is specifically for five people who follow and comment on your blog. The second one (the "Gift of Love" with the cute little bear) has no particular requirements - you just pass it along to five people. I decided to do what Linda did and give both awards to five people - here are my nominees

1. CrazyMaryNSC

2. Kasey's Kreations

3. Val's Paper Obsession

4. Dropped Stitches

5. Smiles for Everyone

I hope you find the time to go and visit all 44 (!) of the blogs I have nominated - maybe not all in one day but when you have some free time do check them out. There are so many amazing and creative people doing all sorts of things and blogging about them - I am sure your creativity will be stimulated and your knowledge will be enriched by visiting all of these blogs.

(I will notify everyone I sent the awards to tomorrow - so if you see it here before I send you a message I apologize - I spent over four hours putting this post together - I got distracted looking at all the blogs - and I have to get away from the computer now!)

Catching up - Awards and Thanks (part one)

I have been very delinquent in acknowledging and thanking a number of people for the blog awards they have sent to me. I never seem to have the time to do them justice and post all the answers and links, etc.

I actually won't be able to complete all the rules tonight - my day took an unexpected turn when I had to get to the doctor for some follow up on blood work - turns out I am severely anemic (which explains why I have been having so much trouble summoning the energy to do all the projects I have lined up!). I have started on lots of iron and hope that things will balance out soon, but it was a bit disconcerting to hear "the doctor wants you to be seen today!" on my answering machine this morning. I had planned to do this post today but there are only so many hours in the day so I'll have to split it into two parts...

Heather gave me this Kreativ Blogger award - Check out her blog HERE - she has lots of layouts and cards to inspire you (and two adorable kids!). Thanks Heather!

As part of the Kreativ Blogger award I am supposed to share a few things about myself and pass the award along to 7 fellow bloggers. I will be back to complete this soon.

Three people (!) gave me this "Kreative Blogger" award. Many thanks to all of you!

Cindy Lou - Check out her blog HERE to see lots of great projects - if you are a tear bear fan you won't want to miss this!

Laurinda - Check out her blog HERE - she is always coming up with great projects and does so much to help other Cricut lovers with the Design Studio.

Sue - Check out her blog HERE - she has lots of nice flower cards and adorable inchies to inspire you!

Here are the RULES for this AWARD:
1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs, letting them know they have been nominated.

Leslie gave me this "Premio Dardos" award quite a while ago but we had some trouble connecting so I could find out what I should do. She is part of a group called "Five Scribes" and you can check out their blog HERE - Leslie writes screenplays, along with several other jobs and her Cricut addiction. Thanks Leslie for this honor!

Here is some information about this award:

This award 'acknowledges the values that every Blogger displays in their effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values with each message they write.'
Awards like this have been created with the intention of promoting community among Bloggers. It's a way to show appreciation and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web."
Here are the rules:
1. Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who granted it to you, along with his/her blog link.
2. Pass the award to (15) other blogs that you feel are worthy of this recognition. Remember to contact each of them to let them know they have been chosen as recipients.

Brandy gave me this award quite a while ago - somehow I missed it and just found an unpublished comment so I want to acknowledge it now. You can visit her blog HERE - lots of great ATCs and tags!
Here are the rules for this award:
1. The winner may put the logo on their blog.
2. Put a link to the person who sent you the award.
3. Nominate 5 blogs.
4. Put links to their blogs.
5. Leave a message for your nominees.

This award is from Etha - you can check out her blog HERE - there are lots of great projects and some clever organizing tips.

This award goes to people who you feel show great attitude & gratitude.

Linda F gave me both of these awards - you can find her blog HERE to see lots of lovely watercolor that she uses for cards. Thanks so much Linda for the honor.

The first award was originated by Kellie Winnell. Kellie started this award to thank all of the people who follow and comment on your blog. This should be passed on to 5 people. The second award is The Gift of Love Award. There are no specifics for this award you just need to give it to 5 people.

Whew - I think that is enough awards for a while!

It is late and I need to get some sleep (!) so I will try to edit this post and add award recipients tomorrow or sometime over the weekend. I hope that I have caught up and acknowledged all the awards that have been sent - at times my email can be fairly overwhelming and things move down the list too quickly - I am trying to do better with "triage" when I first see a message(!)

Thanks to everyone who liked my blog enough to send an award - it is good to feel appreciated.

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone is having a lovely Valentine's Day, long weekend for President's Day and start of school break week (if that applies to you!) - I am doing a little blog housekeeping and catching up today.

Blogoversary gifts -

4paws where are you? I haven't heard from you with your postal address so I can send the calendar stamps. The other two gifts were sent out last Tuesday and I did hear from StarlightScrapper that she received hers the very next day.

50th Birthday Gift Challenge -

So far, no one has guessed the correct number of cartridges I used in making this project - I'll let you know when the right answer appears! The post is linked HERE - leave your guess in a comment on that post - not here!

Another award - Thank you Heidi!

Heidi at Heidi's Hobbies gave me this award - check out her blog to see what she has been making. I am supposed to pass this on to my favorite number of blogs - as you know three and seven are my favorite numbers, hmmm, maybe I'll average them and list five!

Here are some blogs I like to visit when I have a chance:

1. Meg's Blog Meg was my secret sister on the Cricut Message Board (I sent to her). She is very talented and has the cutest little boy to scrap about - you'll love her great layouts.

2. Linda's Blog - Just For Sharing Linda does amazing work - she started with Design Studio, then SCAL and now is doing really interesting designs on another machine - check out the embroidery cards she just posted.

3. Roe's Blog - Creative Liberties Roe is one of my fellow ATC swappers on the Cricut Message Board. She just recently started blogging and has been sharing many wonderful things.

4. Mary Fran's Blog - Craft (y) Boutique Mary Fran is a new addition to our ATC swapping group but has she has been chatting with us for a while. Lots of great cards on her blog - be sure to go back to the older posts to see some fabulous wreaths.

5. KER's Blog - PapeRockScissors KER is our ATC group organizer - she does a terrific job each month and always has a new technique to share! Don't miss her metal fish.

How to get in touch with me...

Lately I have been getting questions and requests for help from many different places - comments on my blog, comments on the 4shared site when files are downloaded, PMs on the Cricut Message Board, through the "contact me" button on my Creative Memories site - it gets very tricky for me to be sure that I have seen and answered all of these!

I love it when people leave comments - here on the blog, on the file downloads, on the Cricut Message Board...but, if you have a specific question or request and want to be sure that I get the message in a timely fashion, please send an email to capadiadesigns@gmail.com. I do my best to answer everyone but it can take me time for me to find the questions if they don't come to me directly via email... Thanks!

If you have already sent me a message for help or suggestions for a project you need help with and you haven't heard from me - well..... it is quite possible that I have lost it in the shuffle, so please send me a reminder.

Catching Up - Awards and Thanks!

From time to time I get an email or a comment with a notice that I have been given an award. I posted about a few of these last year but I sometimes have difficulty figuring out just what I am supposed to do - or even who gave me the award...so I let it slide (I also feel a bit embarrassed by the recognition, though I do appreciate it!) Well, I have been doing some "blog housekeeping" and I want to try to catch up on these awards and thank those who sent them. I have had a few email conversations with people lately who have encouraged me to go ahead and post these on my blog - so here goes....

A long time ago Jen sent this JavaBlu award and since it didn't say "JenC" I did not know where it came from - a bit dense of me I guess! Jen is an amazingly creative and helpful person and I am honored that she selected me and thank her most belatedly for this award. Be sure to visit JEN's BLOG if you don't already know about it - you will be amazed!

Susan sent me this stylish award - don't you just love the hat! She is a member of the Bitten By the Bug Design Team and does lovely work. You can see all of her great projects and ideas HERE.

Jill (aka Diva in Pink) sent me this pretty Kreativ Blogger award - and so did Sonia!

Jill is one of the most helpful people I know in the Design Studio Forum - she always is there to help new users learn the ins and outs of the software. She also has wonderful projects on her blog - you can see them by clicking here JILL's BLOG

Sonia is very creative and very productive - her blog is full of inspiration for cards and layouts. Be sure to check out her great craftroom - scroll to the bottom of the page here SONIA's BLOG to see a slideshow of her amazing space (so incredibly neat too!)

Last, but not least, Okie sent me this pretty purple Kreativ Award.

Well what is there to say about Okie that hasn't been said already! We got our Cricuts around the same time, we joined the Cricut Message Board around the same time and we both became obsessed with the Design Studio software - it just "clicked" with our somewhat unusual ways of thinking about things! Okie is a "bit" more chatty than me - witness her 15,000 plus posts on the Message Board to my paltry 2400 or so. In the chat room we often say the same thing at the same time, so we decided that we must be "twins" - separated at birth (and by a decade or so!). Here is the link to OKIE's BLOG - full of fabulous Design Studio files. She is doing challenges lately and they look like fun (maybe I'll get around to doing one soon!).

Thanks again to all of you for thinking of me and sending the awards.

Now I think I am supposed to list some obsessions or favorite things, little known facts, or miscellaneous trivia about myself and nominate some fellow bloggers for awards. So here is a random list of seven...

1. There are still some Christmas trees up in my house (!) - one is becoming a Valentine's tree but I think it is time for the Santas to go to the attic!
2. I addition to "collecting" all things connected to scrapbooking and paper crafting, I collect art glass paperweights (and actually have some designs in mind inspired by them - watch this space!).
3. I am a bit of a chocoholic - and prefer dark chocolate always.
4. I regret that I didn't buy the Create on the Black Friday sales - just to get Don Juan - I really want that cart and I probably could have worked out a deal to sell it with a different cartridge!
5. As a college student I pulled an all-nighter to finish a paper because I had to watch "The Wizard of Oz" (yes, I went to college before the days of VCRs) and I could recite most of the lines of the movie with my friend Libby (who also stayed up to watch it) - and yes, I love the musical "Wicked" too!
6. I grew up on a dairy farm and still drink a lot of milk.
7. I think it would be fun to have a job operating an old fashioned switchboard, plugging in all the cords and multitasking!

Now I will nominate some fellow bloggers for awards -you can take your pick, so, if you have one of these awards already, go ahead and pick one that you don't have - please link back to me when you post the award and make a list sharing some info about yourself and then nominate some more folks and give the reasons you are nominating them.

Awards and kudos to:

Carla at ScrappedLives - She is a very talented designer who has been doing lots of adjustable designs (and I am sure that she is also hoping for the "group" function to be released soon!). These projects can take hours to do and require a great deal of patience to complete, so stop by and see her work and be sure to say thanks!

Amanda at Cricut Creations by Amkscrap - She has always been creative and helpful and shares not only her great designs but her file hosting site with many other designers. Her blog has a mixture of designs and other helpful Cricut information and tips - check it out!

Kopperhead at 100 Things (Maybe More) - She is waay past 100 things (!) and they are all fabulous. If you are into digital scrapping, Kay has some fantastic free kits (don't forget to say thanks!) - one of my long term goals is to learn to design digi elements anywhere close to as wonderful as hers! Check out her ATC and inchie swaps too.

Susan at SusanBlueRobot - probably the most productive person I know - her blog is jammed full of helpful lessons, designs and information. She was one of the Design Studio "pioneers" and figured out a lot of things to teach the rest of us - she now is doing more with SCAL so if you have that program you won't want to miss checking out her blog!

Narelle (the GirlfromOz) at Cricut Lovers Guide to Design Studio - another one of the people who figured out a lot of things about the program and shared them with others in the early days after the release of the design studio software - and she continues to help out with all sorts of technical questions and does great tutorials on her blog. If you need an answer - you will probably find it here - or if you post on the Design Studio forum on the Cricut Message Board she will come in and save the day! Thanks Narelle!

Robin at The Pink Stamper - what a sweetheart she is! Mother of five and always willing to share her knowledge and make her video lessons that have helped so many new (and some experienced) crafters learn new skills! I don't know how she finds the time - but she clearly loves what she does!

Finally, Nilda at Paper Creations and The Cuttlebug Spot. She is very involved and helpful to others on the Cricut Message Board and has done a lot to help new crafters learn techniques - she also does her fair share of enabling by showing how she uses various punches and embossing folders which makes everyone realize that they must have them too!

There are so many others I could add to this list, but for now I will stop at seven. I continue to be fascinated by the way the internet has made so much help and inspiration available for all sorts of crafters around the world. Enjoy checking out these blogs - I am sure you will be inspired to try something you see (or find a solution to a problem you might be having).
