Hey all! It's been a while since I have done a life update on here. Honestly with everything that is going on, my brain has been scattered and the days get lost, but I wanted to make sure I recorded what we've been up to!

{Calvin's Preschool Finale}

Calvin hadn't attended preschool since March 13, but his school did a portfolio pick up where we could capture a cute photo. Honestly, I am sad he didn't get closure on his preschool time, but a lot of things are not as we had hoped right now.

{Camping}

Russ and the boys have been camping a few times. I went once to help them set up and eat dinner. The other time I wasn't able to go. but boy do they love camping!

{Biking}

Since we have been home, both Wesley and Calvin have learned how to ride their bikes on two wheels. We went on a family ride on a trail.

{Book Club}

I am a part of a book club and we have been reading one book a month. This title was very good!

{Air Fryer}

We have had an air fryer since before Christmas. I finally made some donuts in there and they were tasty and so easy!

{Helping}

My dad is retiring and I helped my parents move out of the home they have lived in for the past 20 years. I put this sign up in their kitchen way back when and it was funny to see if still there!

{Last Day of School}

We celebrated the last day of school. It was obviously very different than it has been in the past. The boys' school did a virtual end of the year "assembly" on Facebook live. We also take a first day/last day selfie each year, so here is our last day selfie.

{Pool}

Since pools in our area are closed for the summer, we purchased one for our yard. Something I never thought I would do, but the boys love to swim and we wanted to make sure they had the chance to swim this summer. Everyday the weather has been great, they've been in it, and that has been so nice! I have learned a lot about taking care of it in the past weeks!

So, that's what we've been up to! Trying to keep going when life is abnormal right now. I'll share more as the summer goes on! We have a couple fun things planned!

Well, I can't say life has gotten busy, but it's been different. Some days I nail my to-do list and other days I can barely get off the couch. Last Friday I had all the intentions of blogging but just didn't, so this week you get highlights from the past two weeks.

{ONE}

Because we are a little crazy around here, one day Wesley and I went live in my Facebook Group and he did my make up. He got a little crazy at the end, but it was very fun!

{TWO}

Our boys' school did a teacher drive by parade and it was so sweet. The boys made signs and I definitely teared up a little bit.

{THREE}

We're still rocking the fire pit the boys made and one night we roasted hot dogs over it!

{FOUR}

We celebrated Wesley's birthday and I worked with Card My Yard, Des Moines for a fun surprise in our yard!

Russ's parents came over to drop off gifts (and stay at a distance). :)

I arranged to have our local fire department drove by to wish Wesley a happy day!

Wesley helped me decorate his cake!

And we zoom called with my family to sing Happy Birthday and blow out his candles.

{FIVE}

One of Russ's former students invited us out to check out their farm. They had horses and sheep and sheep dogs and it was nice to get out and away from our town for a little bit.

{SIX}

Easter Sunday the weather was cold and icky, but we enjoyed church from the couch in our jammies.

We also had an indoor egg hunt and got a little dressed up to eat take out for dinner.

This past week it has been pretty gloomy and cold. We have gone on some walks but spent a lot of time inside. As I type this, it's snowing, but next week is supposed to be nicer again so I can't wait to get outside more.

Week three and I barely know what day it is! Just kidding, kind of! This week has definitely had its ups and downs. Good moments and not so good ones. It's hard to not be able to go places but I know it is for a good reason. Today they just extended our school closure through April 30th.

Today I'm sharing a few of the good moments of our week.

{ONE}

Calvin helped me make some popsicles this week and the boys enjoyed them on the deck.

It's so crazy how life can just CHANGE in a week. We are officially off of school through April 13 and are practicing social distancing. This week was our spring break already. We'd planned a trip but decided not to go. We have just been hanging at home and enjoying time together. Here's what we've been up to!

On St. Patrick's Day, we dressed in green and hit up the donut drive through! Drive throughs will be so helpful during this time as long as they stay open! They've closed all bars and restaurants in our state except for drive through, delivery and carry out.

Last Friday was Valentine's Day! Our church youth group offered babysitting, so we took advantage of it and went out. We ended up at the mall food court because every place was crazy, but we still had fun. Russ and I actually met on Valentine's Day (read the story here), so it is a special day for us.

I mentioned last week that it was Henry's birthday! He had some buddies over to hang out and a couple spent the night. He made out big with Roblox gift cards and he was thrilled!

Today is Henry's 10th birthday! I always put streamers on the boys' rooms the night before their birthdays, so it is something fun to wake up to. He opened some gifts this morning and he has some buddies coming over tonight!

Henry had his first basketball game of the season. He got to shoot a free throw, though he didn't make it, he did make two three point shots in the game!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year! Today I'm recapping the past two weeks of adventures!

{ONE}

The first evening starting off break, I headed off to dinner and to see Tonic Sol Fa (a local A Capella group) with some of the Des Moines Moms Blog crew. It was so fun!

I went to my friend's favorite things party, and I took a couple of my favorite things this year. I have purchased these make up brushes on multiple occasions from Amazon this year, and these keychain bangles are my new best friend for keeping track of my keys! if you don't know how a favorite things party works, read more about it here.

DIY Felt Christmas Trees

Henry had his fourth grade concert. It was so fun to see him perform and they even did some songs playing a recorder! They also display some of their art at the concert, so that's why he is holding an art piece!

Who got Disney +? We get a year free with our Verizon plan! So far the boys have watched Wall-E which is one of our favorites, but I hope to snuggles in and watch more soon!

I shared this organization tip on my Instagram story and I got so much positive feedback about it! I have a shoe organizer on the inside of our coat closet door and in it, I put all our winter hats, gloves and scarves! It's so handy! I have a row for each of us plus an extra row of randoms on the bottom. I snagged this one from Amazon and it has worked well!
