I am back!!!

Ops, so i realised i have been disappearing from this space for longer than i anticipated. haha. My final few weeks of 2013 had been filled with a whirlwind of events, from celebrating my birthday with my fave people...

to attending that very important meeting that might change my life for the next 2-3years to playing 5-10-15 with the crazy gang on new year's eve to welcome 2014...

Still in disbelief that i am finally 25 years old, and that would be a quarter-of-a-century old with erm...basically nothing but a far-fetched dream. Lol.

Oh wells, before i digress, this "comeback" post shall focus on my favorite blog topic: Food. haha.

-----

Visited The Landing Point, Fullerton Bay Hotel a while ago with my girlfriends to try their high-tea set which was so highly raved about online.

It was pretty crowded that day so we couldn't get the sofa seats that would overlook the beautiful Marina Bay Sands =( Oh what luck!

You get to pick from a wide range of refillable TWG tea when you opt for their high-tea set so we each had a small jug of hot tea to start off our meal =D

Plain/raisin cinnamon scone to be sent over by their waiters right before the main set arrives...

And then the most important part of this high-tea set arrived!!!!!!! *Throws confetti*
A three-tiered display rack filled with both sweet and savoury high tea pastries!!

Top tier: Mainly sweet pastries like chocolate cake, christmas cookies, sweet pies.
All the items on the racks were refillable but we barely refilled any item on this top tier because they were a tad too sweet to our liking. Chocolate lovers might find themselves in love with the rich and moist chocolate cake though.

Middle tier: All my girlfriends would agree that the middle tier is definitely the highlight of the high tea set that afternoon! Filled with mainly savoury bites, each and everyone of the pastry was delish!!
We particularly enjoyed the lobster tarts (omg, so delicious im drooling now T.T), truffle egg sandwich and smoked duck sandwich. The least popular sandwich would probably be...the cucumber and tomato sandwich because it's just bread, cucumber and tomato? LOL.

Last tier: Another row of extremely sweet and sinful cakes and desserts. Which as predicted, were not very well-received among us girls that day because they were so sweet you kinda get sick of it after your second bite =/
Just in case you are wondering what choices were we given that day, they were Christmas fruit cakes, macarons (they were my least favorite that day. Apart from being sweet, there is simply no other word to describe them), pistachio cake with chocolate and raspberry and cream mousse.

As for their service, i wasn't all that impressed, especially with what would be expected of such a reputable cafe. The manager that day did appear to be aloof (should have seen his face when we simply asked if there is really no more seats near the window panes) although the other staff were quite polite. However, service was a little slow as well when it comes to refilling the tiers so much so that we had to request for a refill because we simply waited too long for the staff to walk over with the refill trays. I think when you ask customers to pay S$49++ for a high tea set, we would naturally be expected to be treated better too? Just my two cents.

Ending my post with my eating buddies aka taitai-wanabes. hahaha.

Until next time~~

Random.

I am back from my work trip~

Was a little disappointed when i had to give up on one of my favorite manufactured bag designs during this trip abroad due to some unforeseen circumstances but i'm still really excited about our next 2 bag designs as well as....our accessories line! After much thought, i have decided it is really time to expand the variety of products for Yventually so while i will still put my main focus on designing and manufacturing bags, we will also try to launch accessories and shoes in between the bag collections!!! I managed to find several jewelleries suppliers during this sourcing trip so make sure you stay tuned for our very first full-accessories line in a week or two =D

Apart from running around settling designs, i also managed to squeeze in time for a short Hong Kong day trip. Hip hip hurrays!

Desserts before my trip at Meet Fresh. Omg, i am now salivating just looking at this pic. I need my herbal jelly nowwwwww.

Well-maintained high-speed train to HK. I was impressed with the cleaniness and spaciousness of the seats which made the 2 hour journey more bearable.

First stop: AUSTRALIA DAIRY COMPANY
This was one of the main reasons why i decided to slot in this day trip to Hong Kong. In case you don't know, they serve the best scrambled eggs toast and milk tea!! This eatery is not a place for you to chill and hang out with friends though so expect to share tables with strangers and be asked to leave right after you are done with your meal. With that being said, it's all worth it just to be able to eat my eggs =*)

Mak Man Kee Noodle Shop
Since this noodle shop was situated right next to Australia Dairy Company, might as well pop in for some wanton goodness right? Had the wanton soup without noodles because i was really full by then. The wanton were huge and stuffed with so many prawns! A little pricey though =/

Didn't take any pictures after that because it was just plain shopping and wandering around Mongkok and dining at my favorite Tsui Wah restaurant before heading back. I managed to grab a discounted leather jacket from H&M so i guess i am all ready for my Fall work trip already? hahaha.

My HK OOTD:
Abstract Print dress: Chaceylove
Cherie hobo: Yventually
Cat pumps: FEP

-----

Before i end this extremely random post, i bought these ear cuffs for my friends during the trip and gotten a few more just in case anyone is interested so do email me directly at yventually.sales@hotmail.com if you are keen in getting one? Please note that it is one-sided and available in either white or black. Selling at S$12 including normal postage + COP.

Until next time~

Random thoughts

Some of you might know that i just returned from my work trip recently. My second time travelling solo to settle upcoming bag designs as well as do some sourcing of ready-made stocks for both bags and shoes. And just like my previous solo work trip, i get many friends and relatives asking me why i actually want to go overseas alone, especially when the place i'm going isn't exactly the safest place to venture for a girl alone. This issue has been raised so many times by so many people and i just had the urge to write this down in this little space of mine.

Travelling alone means eating alone 100% of the time, sleeping in the small hotel room all by myself and dealing with different kind of situations along the way (and that includes watching people fight/argue/shout at each other 1m away from you). It is not something i absolutely enjoy, but it is something i have to do. I manage Yventually by myself so you can't just expect people around me to drop everything they are doing to accompany me on my trips. I know i have friends who expect my bf to accompany me but he is not part of my business and he is a student with school commitments. I just don't think it is fair to him that he has to pay for the trip with me, carry the heavy bags from point A to point B, be bored stiff while i spent hours discussing color charts with my manufacturer and take time away from school just so he could be there. It is not expected of him and i know some might not agree with me but it is what i think and believe. As for my parents, as much as i know they are always worried sick from the moment i board that plane till the moment i land back in sunny Singapore, they are really busy people as well. My mum's not exactly in the pink of health and she hates fashion (i wonder how i became who i am sometimes. HAHA) so no, i don't need to trouble her because i can handle my own problems myself. I always believe if this is what is required to put Yventually on the right track to success, i will do it.

When you are by yourself overseas, you are forced to "grow up". You learn to take care of yourself, learn to stay alert at all times and you really move out of your comfort zone. You also learn to appreciate your country/family/friends so so so much more. I always take the clean streets of Singapore for granted but everytime i come back from my trip, i take a few deep breaths the moment i step outside changi airport because the air just smell SO MUCH fresher. HAHA. Being alone also gave me time to reflect and think about what i want in the years to come.

I appreciate everyone who accompanies me on whatsapp every time i travel by myself. It's those days that i realise i am really blessed with so many people who love me. You guys know who you are..and if you are reading this post, i love you all so much. Thank you for being there for me =)

Ok, so im really just blabbering in this post but guess i just want to set things straight. i am not sure why i wana write all these stuff down myself so if you are like "huh, so what is the whole point of this post?", don't worry, i wonder too. HAHAHA

Until next time i guess =)

Perfect Pitch

Came back from my work trip and have not had time to blog. Sigh. So sorry for the lack of content recently. I promise i'll be back soon with more interesting food and Yventually entries =D

Caught Pitch Perfect (i know, a little slow) during the trip and gosh, why did i only watch this fabulous movie now?!

One of my favorite segments of the movie aka The Riff-Off. A little bit of the oldies, a little bit of the classics and a little bit of pop and hip-hop. AWESOMEEEEEEE =)

Until next time~

P.S. Isn't Skylar Astin just....cute? *smitten* ahahaha. Sorry, im having a little celeb crush right now. teeheehee.

When you bring a bunch of Microbiologists together...

Just came back from my company's department annual party this afternoon and regretted not bringing my camera with me because it was so much fun! Pardon the poor quality pictures =(

I missed the department party when I was an Hons student last year because it was held during the examination period so this year, my colleagues made sure I was notified! This year's theme is Sci-Fi so it was quite hilarious to walk down the same ol' lab corridor, only to see the whole place decorated with the outer space theme with all the spaceships and aliens cut-out! haha.

Each Professor's team is in charge of a certain cuisine every year and i was awed by the variety of food on display. Everyone put in SO much effort in decorating their booths and the food was SO YUMMY!!! It's even more fascinating that they were mostly home-made!

The desserts booth that had everyone in awe. Their homemade tiramisu was awesome!!

Their "star" item: Toy Story Alien cupcake!!

Thai booth by our neighbour lab. They had one of the nicest green chicken curry i'v ever eaten, deliciously prepared by one of their lab member =)

Traditional chinese food booth

Our lab's specialty - Homemade Fermented Fruit Juices aka WINE
This drink is prepared by my lab manager every year and it's always well-received. Everyone kept asking for the alcohol content (it's really quite strong =/). Let's just say it's definitely stronger than beer but lighter than Vodka. You get the drift ;)

You get to choose between Red Grape and Apple flavor!!

With such great drinks come...
drunk Hons students. HAHAHAH

There were more booths (Jap, German, Peranakan, Malay etc) but i was too busy nom-ing. HEHEHE.

Everyone then gathered at the seminar room for the much-anticipated sci-fi themed "Dress Up Your Boss" competition!!

Wall-E and Eve!! So cute pls! It's hard to believe behind the mask is a well-respected female Professor. hahaha.

All the bosses who took part in the competition!

Games!

And lastly, group picture (with the friendly aliens)

Found one of the Gangnam Style videos on youtube!! This was for the "MicroB Got Talent" competition we had during the department party too! One of the funniest videos submitted by the various labs actually ;)

Enjoy~

Until next time!!! =)

I'm just bored.

Before im totally glued to the TV watching New Girl (im a little slow but it's quite funny you know), here's a youtube video that made me laugh (yup, i don't have anything interesting to blog about!!! T.T)

Since we are on the topic of TV, Homeland is pretty damn awesome too! Maybe there is really a reason why my favorite ad man Jon Hamm (aka Don Draper) didn't win the Emmys because Damian Lewis is so good at portraying the villian in Homeland. But nevertheless, catch Homeland and Mad Men if you haven't! ;)

Have a good week ahead everyone! =)

Ai Se Eu Te Pego

Most infectious/catchy song that's stuck in my head since i first heard it in Paris. TheBF hates it because it is being played everywhere in Europe, even in Sweden. I heard the true meaning of this Portuguese song is quite...horny. WAHAHA. You can totally sense it from the way the girls dance in this music video actually. kekeke =P

Enjoy~
Until next time!

Childhood Memories

Have you seen this video?

Reminded me of my primary/secondary school days =)
You know, when things were so much simpler, when winning a zero-point game can make my week ("out, in, out, TWIST!"), when the only stressful days were during PSLE/O levels (not 365 days within 2 university semesters), when you are only surrounded by people you love and friendship just blossoms overnight because everyone's all naive and innocent =)

Oh, how i miss those days!!

Just thought i should share this video to all 1980s babies out there ;) heehee.

Until next time!

P.S. If you are like my bro who can't really relate to this video because he played Pokemon gameboy games and Digimon cards, good for you, you are young =P AHAHAHA
