8 Amazing Facts About Ajman That You Didn’t Know!

OK let me start with wiping of the myth that Ajman is a village and a distant city. To be very specific, it takes only 13 minutes of drive from Dubai Airport to reach Ajman. You might find it funny but some of my friend have an impression that I live on a distant island. I have always been proud of the fact that I was born in this beautiful city and this city has never disappointed me.

I have lived here for almost 33 years and this is how I would summarize:

1)      Ajman can be easily nominated for having the best beach in Gulf (you don’t need to agree with me but I would still rate it the best. The foreign tourists vouched for me already). The beach has all the MNC’s and fast food joint that you can think of.

2)      The fancy yacht you see in Jumeirah, Marina and Festival City, most of them are manufactured in Ajman. For years, Ajman has been the choice for yacht manufacturers. Now that’s something to be proud of.

3)      It is a home for biggest 5 Star Luxury Hotel Brands such has Ramada, Kempinski, Ajman Saray, Fairmont, Ajman Palace Hotel and the list goes on. They are situated in a single stretch!

4)      A newly made Corniche at the end of Ajman Beach and it has a stretch of 1.5 kms jogging track (ref Image). The place is so beautiful, you have to see it to believe it.

5)      You will find every traffic light will have a digital counter. You are informed well in advance on how long you have to spend on that particular light. It also gives drivers the sense of safety while driving. I am sure ladies would love to drive in Ajman.

6)      People travel to Mamzar to have special TEA at Filli. In Ajman, at every 100 meters, you will find a tea shop where you can find similar taste and 20 different types of innovative TEA.

7)      You can never give excuse of traffic for not reaching on time. Even in the worst of traffic, you can still exit in 15mins. That’s Ouch for lazy bummers!

8)      The construction of Ajman International Airport is on full flow. Yes! Ajman is set to host about two million passengers per year. Take that for people who thought it was a village! 

Job Offers!!!

In my experience, you don’t need a qualified degree or years of experience to find your dream job. Infact, I got my first 2 jobs in the biggest companies of UAE without any prior experience or qualification. Most MNC’s and International firms look for confident, cheerful & street smart individuals. You got it, if you have it!

I have listed few common mistakes people make while looking for job:

1) Asking friends to apply:

Most people forward their résumé’s to their friends thinking they would have forwarded it to the right places. And we sit relaxed waiting for an interview call. Until you move your bottom, you can never get to the top.

***Secret:

Never ask your friend to apply, because if he/she finds the job attractive, they might apply too. You see, why unnecessary create competition?...;)

2) Searching classifieds & online job sites:

I believe there would be tons of people applying for the same job thinking that they are the only ones viewing it…;) and they hold are very good chance. That’s the easiest and the laziest way. But chances are too poor.

***Million $ Tip:

Get a copy of UAE Business pages; select the list of big companies you would wish to work with. Fax or email them directly. It works all the time. I have worked closely with CEO’s and GM’s of companies and I have always found one thing common and thats Résumé’s of some individual on their table. ALWAYS!!! Good companies believe in hiring directly by GM.

3) Spend too much time decorating the Résumé’s:

The company is not looking for magazine writers & editors. Keep your Résumé simple. Don’t highlight on what you can do, instead highlight on what you have done and achieved. (By highlight, I mean emphasize). Even the smallest achievements…mention!!! But don’t mention about the fancy dress competition!...:)

***Million $ Tip:

Try placing logos of the company you have worked with previously in your Résumé. It reflects on your profile even without reading.

4) Pretending to be someone you are not:

In most cases, people just copy paste Résumés of their friends or relatives. You don’t need to lie and you don’t need to be too honest also. The recruiters have a job of dealing with Humans and catch you in a second if you try pretend or misrepresent facts. They are not looking for superman to save their company. Simplicity is the best policy but with confidence.

5) Spelling Mistakes & Vocabulary Blunders:

Don’t rely too much on Ms Office spell check or draft extra-ordinary sentences. It's always better to let a friend or an associate to go through your Résumé before your submission. The following are the examples of live blunders:

“Here are my qualifications for you to 'Overlook.”

"I am a Quick Leaner"

"I am Sicking Entry-level Position."

Excellent with 'Widows'.

Objective: “I want to play a major part in watching a company advance.”

“Seeking a 'Party-time' position with potential for advancement.”

"Accomplishments: Completed 11 years of high school."

"Served as assistant 'Sore manager'."

Job Duties: “Answer phones, file papers, respond to customer e-mails, and take Odors.”

“Instrumental in 'Ruining' entire operation of the company.”

Application blunders:

Q: In what local areas do you prefer to work?

A: Smoking Area.
