First things first, I'm so sorry for going quiet on you - my wonderful readers - for the past few months! :( No amount of explanation can quite excuse that "Oh my gosh, I finally finished my undergraduate degree, I wanna waste my life for half a year figure out what I wanna do for the rest of my life" unannounced hiatus, but I just wanted to pop in and apologise and let you guys know... I'll be back someday soon! :)

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank my team of Guest Bloggers who helped keep YSK alive while I was busy with my final year in university - and I look forward to having them on board again when YSK is revived! :) Much loves to Cynthia, Wei Ni, Mechell, Anna, Nathalee, Michelle and other friends who contribute to this blog. :D

I still have so many ambitions for this blog, and things I want to share with you guys to enjoy in the online shopping community ... my work is not yet done! :) We encourage you to subscribe to our mailing list so you'll be updated via e-mail when ever there's a new blog post up. Announcement: Registration of Online Businesses

Hi shopping kaki! :)

I apologise for being out of the loop until now - but eventhough I just found out (thanks Jolene for alerting me!), I thought I should post it up here to share with every blogshop owner reading this. Just in case :)

Basically, The Star reported that unregistered online businesses have been charged for not registering their companies. This happened in Georgetown, and I'm really not sure of the extent of this new strict-ness... but if you're interested to find out more, here's the news story to start you off:

This is the face behind YSK - yours truly :) *shy

I guess I should introduce myself as a 22-year-old journalism and communications major. By nature an obsessive-compulsive, head-in-the-clouds sort of overimaginative blogger. :D Strongly believes the colour Yellow is a religion. Also a freak for florals (and chicken pie).

This die-hard Twi-hard and Potterhead created YSK one fine day in a bout of procrastination over impending examinations. Personal blog here :)

In an attempt to bring in different points of view (and a wider range of personalities) into an increasingly expanding blog, a few months ago I decided to launch a Guest Blogger program where readers can volunteer to contribute material to be published! :)

How to navigate this blog?

Heavy on visual impact and even heavier on information, this blog revolves around a model of ordered chaos that might take a little while to explore - but it's worth it! ;) And if you're looking for something very specific, there's a Search Bar above the chatboxes (on the sidebar).

I constantly upgrade and improve the website to look and work better, so any feedback or suggestions are more than welcome too :D

Meanwhile, here's a quick guide on the main features of this blog:

• Tabs: We've got quick tabs below the banner for your easy browsing. Reviews are interesting items we've spotted on different blogshops, Features are interviews or special write-ups on blogshops or events, FYI (the newest and most popular tab) carries product reviews based on personal shopping experiences, Advertorials are write-ups bought by advertisers, Blogshop directs you to our own second-hand store, and Housekeeping consists of announcements and posts such as these :P
  

• Info Tabs: We've also got quick, colourful tabs on the sidebar that are linked to info-sheets about YSK. These tabs (About Us, House Rules, etc) are luckily quite self-explanatory :D For example, interested advertisers can find out all they need to know about the commercial viability of this blog by clicking on the "Advertising" tab.

• Events & Bazaar Announcements: This is a very useful part of this blog :) Well, it's useful for myself - so hopefully it'll be useful to you too! :D Here, I list and link all the shopping-related events I can find - bazaars, fashion shows, conventions and even YSK's self-declared Maxi Dress Day ;)

• Blogrolls: On the sidebar, thousands of blogshops are linked for your easy shopping needs! Categorised into ten different categories depending on what is sold in the online store (more info here), I even have a blogroll of blogshops I've personally shopped at before! :) Sometimes it freaks me out about how long the list is getting ... but at least you can feel free to email me and ask about any of the shops on that list :P

Your Shopping Kaki: Blogging for Malaysian Mirror

Hi shopping kaki! :)

We're thrilled to announce YSK's latest media collaboration, which will hopefully introduce new audiences to the online shopping community. :D The blogger behind Your Shopping Kaki is now a columnist for local online news portal, Malaysian Mirror.

Looking for a summer job?

Since I'm always encouraging you to spend money (hehe buy wisely though!), it's only right that I plug a job vacancy so that you can earn some money back too! ;) Some of you may remember Ace Physiotherapy Center being mentioned in a previous blog post.

Pseudo Hiatus!

Hola shopping kaki! :)

As some of you may already know, I'm on a pseudo-hiatus right now.
Basically, I'm having a bunch of hair-yanking assignments & final exams until November 13th.
It's not a complete hiatus because I'm still making sure there are blog posts
regularly being updated on this blog. :)



That also means I won't be answering linking e-mails until mid-November -
although I'm still trying my best to answer e-mails from readers,
blogshop owners who need help, etc.

So, your shopping kaki implores you -
please be a li'l more understanding in your e-mails & messages. :)

Oh, and btw, to anyone who's still looking for Halloween costumes -

Urgent: Did you lose your bag? and Reader's Concerns

Have you lost a bag lately? and a student of SEGI College?? Because one of the Hazel Mazel member got a phone call from a girl name Sharon, saying that she found a bag at the near by bus stop next to Assunta Hospital. In the bag contains car keys, house key, pen-drive, and a diary.... but no mobile or wallet is seen... if you have lost a bag or a victim of a snatch thief few days back, please contact me asap.

Can't get the bag owners name as there was no wallet or mobile seen.. Sharon, the girl who found the bag, read through the owners diary and found out that the owner was once a customer of our blogshop, thats how we got her call. Since we don't have the bag owners name, so we try to help out by mailing all of our customers... do pass this message around, poor girl must be worried sick...

~On another note~

Recently, I've been receiving more and more e-mails from readers concerned about the authenticity of goods sold online (among several other issues raised by readers, which I will try to help address over time). These items/names/keywords in question include: Crocs, perfumes, Ed Hardy, Juicy Couture, branded watches and bags.

Some of these readers have purchased items under the impression that they are authentic - and some of the blogshop owners who sold these items to them assured them they were buying authentic goods. Turns out some of them were not authentic goods. :/ And the readers feel scammed.

The tricky part is: I understand that blogshop owners may not always be able to say for sure if the items are authentic, and suppliers may assure different things, and so on. It's really not the buyer or seller's fault most of the time.

So I just wanted to post this here, and hope that it helps people: If you are looking to buy goods that are definitely authentic, please be aware that if you buy them online, you are taking a risk.

Celebration!

THE GOOD NEWS

Just a quick note: I got my blogrolls back! But I accidentally killed my dot com website, LOL! But will work that out later. I've switched back to blogspot for the time being! Thank goodness, thank goodness, thank goodness! (Edit 14/9: YourShoppingKaki can now be accessed via both blogspot and .com!)

And thank you so much to everyone who lent me their support throughout my mini-blog-crisis! :D And especially thank you so much to John from StarHostz.com, this guy is awesome, the most helpful and patient fellow ever! A painful Whoops!

If you want to create your own linking button:

Over the past year, I think I've received over fifty e-mails asking me the same question: "How do I create a linking button?"

One of my teachers used to say that when one person in a class has a question, that means twenty others are wondering the same thing - so I'm guessing, if I multiply the number of you who actually have emailed me asking the question... there's probably a lot of you who would like to know how to create your very own linking button. :)

So here's some tech support to the rescue! :D

As of 23rd December 2009, I've switched to host my picture on blogger instead,

as my Imageshack bandwidth gets frequently exceeded and the image banned! :(

Whoops, please ignore the " | " line at the end of the first paragraph. Apart from the little screenshot typo, all you have to do is copy the same html code and modify three parts:

• Where it says my website's URL, change it to yours.
• Where it says "Your Shopping Kaki", change it to your blog name.
• Where it says my image's direct URL (which I'm using Imageshack to host), change it to your own image's direct URL. It's the part that starts with "http://img73.imageshack..." and ends with "...linkingyourshoppingkaki.jpg".

FAQ about blog update problems

Oh, and another question I get asked a lot is: "Why aren't my blog updates showing on your blogroll?" Well, first, make sure that I've linked you - if I've sent you an e-mail saying I've linked you, that means I've linked you. Otherwise, I haven't.

If I've linked you but your blog updates aren't being detected, try these steps:

• Go to your Blogger Dashboard
• Click the "Settings" tab
• Click the "Site Feed" tab
• Allow blog feed: Select "Full"
• Leave everything else blank. Do not, I repeat, do not redirect your feed to your Feeburner URL. Unless your website is a dot com one, in which case you need a specific feed URL.
• To be sure, test it out for yourself - add a "blogroll" on your blog's sidebar and link your own blog. Update a test post, hit refresh, and see if your update is detected! :D

Ooh-la-la, seasonal wardrobe clearance!

Good morning, Sunday sunshine! :)

I'm at the starting point of a long stretch of deadly assignments, so I thought I'd procrastinate by dragging my human mannequin friend over to help me clear my wardrobe. :D
