Dr. Seuss Party

I chose Dr. Seuss for the theme of my son's 1st birthday party. Here are the invitations:

-For the banner, I cut pages from a book. You could find an old tattered book at a used book store to cut. I got mine from Kohls for $2 on clearance, so I didn't feel too bad.
-We had a book signing table for people to write a note to the birthday boy on the pages in a Cat in the Hat book. (again $2 at Kohls) It will be a great keepsake.
- We had a book shelf and  "reading chair" with Dr. Seuss books on it.
- The big photo collage is made of pictures from baby Greyson's first year.

 FOOD:
Green Eggs- green colored deviled eggs
And Ham- Sliced deli ham roll ups with cream cheese inside
Cat in the Hat sticks- Marshmallows and strawberries on a skewer
One Fish Two Fish- Colored goldfish (with a fish net for scooping)
Hop on Pop corn- Kettle corn
Truffula Trees- Brownie pops dipped in green/blue colored white chocolate
Truffula Stems- Twizzler licorice
Blue Ink Drink- Blue colored sprite

The cupcakes were just blue frosted cupcakes, but I stuck toothpicks with cat hats and Dr. Seuss quotes in them.
Here are some free printables for you:

And of course, we had to take a picture of all the cute kiddos with Dr. Seuss books!

It was a successful party and fun memories were made! My baby turned ONE!

Jungle cupcakes and cake

I made these zebra cupcakes using a chocolate mix for the cake, and white or lime colored frosting, with little zebra lines from a tube of black frosting. (The lime food coloring is found in a box that is called neon food colors)

This jeep jungle safari cake is not the greatest, so don't zoom in. It was really fun to make though. I added sprees, malt balls, bubble gum balls, ribbon, toy safari animals, and a toy jeep. My son loved keeping the toys afterwards. The best place I found to get all your treats for cake decorating is Dollar Tree. They have a HUGE variety of candy.
p.s. sprees + chocolate icing= YUM!

CupCake Pop!

How Adorable Are These?   It's so clever how they turned them into Cupcake Shapes by using a Flower Cookie Cutter.  I found Instructions to make them HERE.  I think I might just have to make them for the next Birthday Party!

Expecting cupcakes!

My friend gave us some of these ADORABLE cupcakes to tell us she was expecting!! I have never seen a cuter, yummier way to share the great news!
Check the dollar store for cheap binkies, use candy for the eyes, and tie a little ribbon bow for the girl cupcakes.

Brownie cupcakes

These cupcakes are actually brownies. I used a brownie box mix and just poured them in the cups like you would cupcakes. I stuck a Rolo candy in the center of each one before I put them in the oven. The brownies turn out yummy with a caramelly center! Use any frosting you want and add some fun candies. I used a cream cheese frosting with pink food coloring and for toppings I added:
Red cherry looking topper: Cherry Head candies
Red hearts with writing: Valentine suckers with stick cut in half
Brown and red hearts: solid chocolate hearts made in my mold (pic below)
And also chocolate kisses
I left some plain, since brownies are good without frosting too! Don't be afraid to try any little yummy treat on top that you and your family love!

Luau birthday party

For my son's first birthday, we had a "hawaiian luau" themed party at Bear Lake. It turned out so fun because there are lots of Hawaiian party themed supplies at party stores. The colors I went with were orange, blue, and lime. I put little umbrellas in the cupcakes with some luau themed confetti on top. All of the guests were given a leigh.
