Happy {Cinco de Mayo} Weekend!

happy cinco de mayo weekend!  how fun is this gold pinata?  yes please!

we celebrated tres de mayo at work today and i am suffering a bit from too much horchata (it's so good)!

tomorrow it's a shockwave workout with the girls at equinox, then a fabulous charity silent auction and dinner at the skirball center (dress from rent the runway - fingers crossed it works) and a little farmers market and coffee with the boy on sunday.  and duh a margarita - who's kidding who?

hope your weekend is full of horchata, margaritas and pinatas galore!

cheers!

Bridal Shower Basket

bridal showers are always such a fun festivity to attend.  they are full of happiness, laughter and love.  what more could you want?

they are also full of presents and if you are anything like me, i like to give a good, memorable present.  which is why i am sharing my latest go-to bridal shower prezzie.

i like to go in with a girlfriend or two when giving a bridal present because it allows you way more options!  our last group gift consisted of a cute apron from anthropologie (with written expectations that she must prepare a meal for her hubby in it...naked), a his and her initial mug, some sort of cute shopping list, a fragrant kitchen appropriate candle (both of these smell incredible and are sure to tickle the hubby's senses), matching or coordinating pot holders, and a unique cookbook specific to cooking with love or just for two.

pick and choose from the items above based on your budget and throw them in a cute box with a darling card and you can be sure the bride (and her hubby) will be on cloud nine!

Make This - No Bake Peanut Butter S’mores Squares

{photo by me}

a few weeks back it was b's big dirty thirty b*day.  b and i have a shared love of sweet treats and therefore i went all out on his b*day desserts.

per his request i made slutty brownies which turned out quite amazing and were definitely a hit at the party.  only problem is they do not photograph well at all, but are so easy to make (and can we just talk about how stinking darling rosie is?) and totally an indulgence everyone will appreciate.

i also made his favorite funfetti cupcakes which were a hit with just about everybody.

my third dessert were these no bake peanut butter smores squares.  i'd be lying if i told you i made them for brandon.  nope.  these puppies were my treat to myself for b*day planning and also a dream since the oven is not required!  these bars were had everyone at the party asking me what they were and going in for seconds.  it helped that the birthday boy enjoyed them as well!

the recipe makes a lot and i was able to bring the remaining treats to work for a wedding shower the next day and again, they were quite a hit.

if you are looking for a no brainer, wow them at your next summer bbq dessert - look no further!  these treats will make you the most popular guest around!

Quad {Seattle} City Birthday Party

This past trip to Seattle was one of my favorites and it was all made possible by the lovely LSpry who gifted me a plane ticket to Seattle to celebrate the big 3-0 with some other fabulous gals (all WSU Alum might I add - Go Cougs!). The weekend was full of good food, great friends, fantastic family and of course lots of beverages! Here goes nothing...

The roomie and I a few weeks before heading to Seattle watched "The Best Thing I Ever Ate: Pizza and one of the selections was Serious Pie in Seattle. Lisa, Avery and I made it just in time for happy hour...

Me & Lisa

We enjoyed the {buffalo mozzarella, san marzano tomato}, {roasted yellowfoot mushrooms, truffle cheese} and a salami one that I can't find on the menu. We washed the pizza down with a {maritime old seattle lager - yum} and Lisa with a {manny's pale ale}. It was incredible and a place I will definitely be heading back to when I am in Seattle again.

Next up we need to satisfy our sweet tooth with a "sweet treat" and stopped down at
Dahlia Bakery and enjoyed the best Peanut Butter cookie I have ever experienced in my LIFE!

The triple coconut cream pie bite wasn't too shabby either!

Then we were off to the Pike Place Market, where I just HAD to get a cup of coffee at the first ever Starbucks!

It also only seemed fitting that I order a Pike Street Roast brewed cup of coffee since I was on Pike Street. It was smooth and bold at the same time. Yum :)

The sun was starting to set and it truly was a spectacular day in Seattle (as you can see) and we were off to U-Village for dinner with the girls (battery died no pics), but not before heading into Cafe Campagne for a taste of bubbles!

On Saturday morning, we were lucky enough to get to attend sweet little Amelia's 1st birthday which was circus themed and just too cute!

This birthday party was also awesome because I got to meet little baby Abe and Carson! I also got to see their moms Tiff & Becki and fellow sorority sister Rask. A great reunion to prep for the evening ahead.

We then met up with The Reynolds at Pike Place again and I enjoyed my first taste of Absynthe with Mr. Reynolds at the Artic Club , who warned it would catch up with me later. Which ended up being about 5 minutes later when I didn't fully clear the bench to leave.

Then it was back to Lisa's cute apartment to get ready for our night out on the town.

Me, Lisa, Avery

The three amigos headed to Kel's along with the lovely Jamie of all Trades to Kells for Quad City Birthday Party (thanks JOAT's for coming up with this moniker).

Fellow B-Day Girl Laura, Me & Little Dottie Justine

College Roomies - Me, Alexis & Mrs. R

Me & Cassie

Such an amazing Bestie I have! Mrs. R & Mr. R flew all the way from DC for the Quad Party!

The last picture of the evening which says it all!

That's all folks! I just want to thank everyone again for the birthday wishes and for making 30 a piece of cake!

Happy Blogiversary To YBB!

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe it has been 2 YEARS since my first post! A lot has happened since I started this blog and I am just so happy to have a place where I can put down my thoughts, inspirations and feelings. I also feel so happy that through this blog and all of your blogs out there, I have formed some new friendships. (Yes, we may have never met, but I am sure if we did we would be great friends) I am flattered to have 130 followers (thank you!) and hope that my posts in the future continue to bring you back to read some more!

I was planning to have a giveaway ready for this 2 year celebration, but alas...it snuck up on me and I don't have everything just yet (stay tuned).....

Thank you again for reading and commenting on YBB, and also writing your own blogs! I love starting (sometimes even ending) my day with all of you and hope that I bring a smile to your face now and then!

Cheers to all of you!
