Random CNY-after thoughts

Every year when your relatives give you ang paos, usually they will wish you 学业进步, but when will it really come true?

When fortune-tellers start predicting the goods and bads for the respective chinese zodiac in the new year, does that mean all your peers who are at the same age as you (basically the entire class, or rather cohort when you in primary and secondary schools and JCs) will have the same fate as you?

Don't really understand the significance behind 捞鱼生. But if it is meant for good luck especially with every '捞', people will say some good words, then im in luck - I 捞鱼生 6 times this year!

Yay, i left 2days+ to complete my term paper and im going to start now!

CNY is ... ...

3 days of public holiday are finally over. Back to work for some or back to schools for others, but it's stay-home day for me tomorrow!

Getting tired from the visitations and i think 3 times of lao yu sheng is a bit over-done.

And a lot of times, i aint full from the meals..

And i was asked at least 8 times if i got gf. This year's discussion was a bit more in-depth especially so when my two cousins who are siblings showed their bfs for the first time. Then at one point of time, their mum, my aunt got too worried and asked if there are girls in my school and if need her to introduce.

... ... ...

Well, some of their comments really amused me, made me laugh or quite overrated.

That's one reason why CNY really get on my nerves.

Okay, I need to get back to my assignments, hopefully.

Happy Lunar New Year!

It's here - Year of the Pork!

But still, my partial disliking towards CNY still remains, just like last year, the year before and before and before ........ and before.

Im such a minority, i realised. But perhaps there is a slight chance that im not.. Ha

And this time, the mid-term break coincides with the new year holidays. But this actually mean we only left a few free days to catch up on our studies...

Let's see... 1 reading assignment, 1 term paper, 1 lab report and 1 homework assignment due when school starts... so great.

But i finished my reading assignment already! Lab report next.... yes, on this eve.

No life.

V-day!

When the girls get cookies, flowers or chocolate on V-Day from guys, i got to resort to getting a 'halal' cookie from me to myself...

How cool!

Weekend's life

Midway through the wedding dinner which i attended last friday (9Feb), in fact, just after the 3rd dish, i left. Like quite bad, but then it just had to happen when two events clashed.

So i went to Dbl O which is just less than 400 metres away from the dinner place. Was there to support Zee in the Jim Beam Hiphop Dance Competition. It was just heats but Zee's group was good enough to enter into the finals.

It was party time after that, and it seemed we had too much drinks. Well, drinks were much cheaper as compared elsewhere (just $3 per glass/shot and $12 per jug while Zouk's can be $12 per glass and $30 per jug!). Ha.

Stayed til it closed and perhaps due to a common interest we have and that was what that made a great company and the time spent enjoyable.

After 5hours plus of sleep, it was time for practice and rehearsal in school again.

And later at night, without much rest in the day, i went night cycling organised by NUS Rovers..

Our group was small and got the 'North-1' route.

Started off at East Coast Park and next stop was Liang Seah St. near Bugis for some cold desert. From Bugis, continued to Selegie for Rocher's Soyabean and You Tiao. Next we passed Orchard Road to Newton Food Center for tourist-targetted-priced Stingray, Fried Kway Tiao and Hao Jian. Then to Serangoon's 24-hr McDonald and rest when we decided we were too full for some prata. Lastly, we reached Geylang for some delicious Beef Hor Fan...

And finally back to East Coast Park at around 5am when we returned our bike. With seriously aching butts, that concluded our 6hours+ night cycling while we rest at East Coast Mac's before taking the first bus home.

I finally slept at 7.30am on Sunday morning!

Realisation.

My desktop died again on sunday. And now im back to using my was-once-collecting-dust laptop.

And it dawned upon me that i have a total of 3 projects and 3 term papers to do this semester.

And CE2183 is really going to drown us with so many impending deadlines.

And i havent done my summary for this monday's submission.

And i have a busy weekend ahead.

Last saturday, i attended my aunt's Affirmation of Wedding Vows. Then sunday, my cousin's wedding dinner. And tomorrow, another cousin's wedding dinner.

Why so many things?

Tanning out.

It was a busy and tiring day.

First up was Zusammen or i would call it Sports Day for ChESS. Despite registration time was 9am, the earliest and first of our team member to reach was actually KR, at a holy time of 9.20am!

Impressive.

After a tiring, thrashed Frisbee, a watch-only Street Soccer, an exuberating winning Captain's Ball and a sure-to-lose-when-playing-with-school-team-players Floorball which we had a "tyco" 1-point score, the first half was over. It was 12.45pm then. But i gotta leave and miss the second half since i was already late for my class which started at 12pm.

Oddly, the sky was very cloudy and yet i still appeared reddishly-tanned after only 3 hours of outdoor games.

After the class, still had rehearsal practice for the concert til 4pm. And after this, rushed down to Bedok to attend my aunt's Affirmation of Wedding Vows at her church.

Yes, it was a church thing, but im not a follower anyway.

No disrespect or what but when the pastor told us to bow our head and say the prayers, i was falling asleep. But the prayers was too short for me to close my eyes long enough to blend with the rest.

At the end of everything, including dinner, i still think im perhaps an atheist.

Or, I still prefer Jelmerism.

Showtime.

Tuesday was our short, humble performance at the Central forum for NUSSU's Fest La Vie bazaar.

Hmmm... seriously, don't understand why we were asked to perform free by NUSSU. Maybe because we are a subclub under CAC who is under NUSSU?

Anyway, it was probably our first public performance and we got a bit of nervous before that. In the end, i think we still could dance better, probably offstage. Ha.

Nice experience though.
