The older you get, the later you sleep

Asked this to yourself:

When was the last time you slept before 12am?

You are too blessed if it was only just few days ago.

For me, if i include the time when im still in NS, the last time was probably in May 2005.

If i don't count the NS period, when i had complete irregular sleeping hours due to the odd timings for doing duties, i think.... perhaps it was during secondary school times.

At least 6 years ago!

How pathetic can this be.

Im really lacking of sleep these few days.

On monday, i slept at 4am and woke up at 7am.
Yesterday, i slept at 5am and woke up at 8am.

And i found out a few people around me are sleeping at 3-4am too.

Oh my, look at what NUS has done to us.

Perspective from the windows

As I returned home today, i noticed there were several army/air force/navy personnels at a wake opposite my block...

Then i recalled there was a colonel who recently collapsed and died after nearly completing the biathlon. Yup, it was reported in the news too, albeit a bit low profile - a common practice with the SAF.

So i thought, perhaps the wake was his.

Indeed, it was. Confirmed by KR.

And i thought, hmmm, my neighbourhood seems to be quite happening recently, and every thing just happened around my block!

Around 1 to 2 years ago, i noticed a yellow Celica parked at the car park below my block.

It was quite conspicuous for its colour and being a sports car...

Sometimes, i would just look for the car whenever i looked out from the windows.

Then one day, there was a news report that a man was found dead at some deserted place, inside this yellow Celica.

It was the same car.

How he died, i have forgotten the details. From then on, i didnt see the car anymore.

What a waste, i thought.

Ha, but recently another car caught my attention.

It was a black Toyota MR-2 - a car i once dreamt to have..

Interestingly, the car seems to return only late at nights.

I also seem to be quite free...

Spate of events

What is so special about the photo below?

Well, the block on the right has totally blacked out. There were also fire engines at the car park below... Ah, perhaps there was some electric supply problem and the residents have alerted the police..

Later, from the news then i realised a fire has broken out.

The fire was at the 21st storey and has blackened the wall.

But something is worth concerning.

A fire broke out in Block 223 in November 2004. And now, it is Block 218. And i stay in Block 222.

Im actually in such close proximity to both incidents which happened within such a short period.

This is quite disturbing, especially when im staying in Lorong 8 - an estate that is under Potong Pasir and targetted by the PAP in this upcoming election.

I do not want the two constituencies to be left behind, especially Potong Pasir, an old estate. Five years down the road, assuming Chiam do win, there will be no upgrading.

After that, we got to ask ourselves whether the estate is worthwhile upgrading. I'm talking about Lorong 8. By then, the estate would be around 35 years old and the lease is only 99 years, so economically, is it worthwhile?
-- Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong during a recent dialogue session

The fires will probably cause the Opposition Party to lose some votes as simply, there is no upgrading here other than the lift upgrades last year.

No? I dunno. Im not into politics.

Great minds think alike.

Sometimes it will need inspirations or at least some events to blog about...

Being the lifeless person on Earth, I can only rely on inspirations...

So I put on my thinking cap and tada, ideas just came saturating my mind... But before i do any blogging, i would just surf other blogs first.

Bad move.

I realised there are at least 2 people's blog which I came across and have posted stuffs that were similar to what i have initially intended to talk about...

This is bad. If i continue to blog what i wanted, it would means 'plagiarism'. Even if it is not easy to find out, it would seems unoriginal.

So in the end, i could only have a patronising, pointless post first as a filler.

Snippets of lecturers. Prelude.

What defines a good lecturer?

Someone who can explain concepts clearly? Or someone who can make a lecture lively by injecting humours occasionally?

For one, I must applaud the talented Victor Tan for his effort in lecturing us Maths... He actually used a violin during a lecture to explain some chim concepts..

Ha, the quality isnt quite good though

Hmmm, you must be wondering, what has maths got to do with playing violin?

Well, i wish maths is easy and all about numbers, but no ... ... ...

Dilemma.

In a survey i did last time for my CTW position paper, one of the question is:

If you have unwanted, recyclable items at home, would you recycle them?
91.4% of our respondents said YES.

The following question is:

If yes, you would: Just throw them down the rubbish chute.
And 6.3% Strongly agree to it, 34.4% Agree and 28.1% are Neutral.

So what has happened to 91.4% who say they would recycle?

Surveys arent so accurate afterall when there is trick question like this, unfortunately, set by us.

A new layout

I've ditched the blue. Now it is green.

Im so free to do this change. Yet, when it comes to study, i always find no time.

Excuses.

Once in a blue moon

Recruiting potential freshies for our camp during the NUS open-house was fun, but for the shy people like me (haha), approaching pretty girls and eventually asking them to leave their contacts (not for me) was quite a rare experience. Lol. Well, potential guys werent in sight. Most are just entering NS. Which probably explains the 70+ gals contacts vs <10 guys contacts.

I wished i had also gone down on saturday to help out, but didnt. I did plan to go down but i was too tired. All because of an overnight majong session.

We started at 12am and ended at 9++am, saturday. Unfortunately, i dont have to luck to win as much money as Alvin who was unusually possessed by the God of Majong. Haha. But at least, i managed to reduce my lost from $12.40 at the end of second round to just $1.70 when we finally ended. It wasnt easy.

In the end, i slept from 11am til 5pm, hence missing out the open-house... Sighz..

Mounting stress

Suddenly, the exams mood seems to be getting intensive...

Yes, people are counting down the number of days and that will be probably another 40 days more...

I went to do some simple calculation on the amount of stuffs i need to study and i realise, it is better to start now.

In short, one has to study + practice question for about:
1. 1 out of 6 chapters for maths;
2. 5 out of 20+++ lecture notes for physics;
3. 2.5 out of 16 chapters for EE;
4. Practice writing at least 10 programs for programming;

per WEEK starting from NOW.

And all these add up to approximately 20 hours or more required.

And all these are on top of the weekly tutorials and lectures.

And a 1500-word group position paper we have to churn out next week.

Where got time.

Yeah, I will be a real mugger if i start studying now for the final exams. But indeed, it takes one to be a mugger or real smart or both to get AAAAA.

Anyway, i managed to catch up my maths lectures so far by watching webcast at a speed faster than the lecturer can teach and talk...

Next, physics. Im still lagging for about 12 lecture notes already.

And EE, im lagging 7 chapters.

Oh gosh.

Mugging mugger me must mug.

Sleepless nights

Im getting worse than last semester, in terms of the time i sleep...

Since the Mid-term Tests Week and into the mid-term break and til today, i have been sleeping after 3am almost everyday...

It is 3.50am now and i had just finished my programing lab 20 minutes ago after spending hours to think and type out the long solution... It ain't easy.

Fortunately, my earliest lessons in the week was at 9am and only on friday. Though i overslept last week and hence missed 2 lectures from 9am to 12pm. Ha..

Ok, just a random post.
