Last day of 2005

Last day of 2005.

Even the sky is gloomy on this day..

2005 - a significant year for me.

A brief recap....

January
Attained the status of a licensed driver by passing the test the first time. Woot!

February
A lonely Valentine's Day. Again.

March
Huh... what had happened during this month? Amnesia.

April
Enjoyed clearing leave during NS.

May
Finally an adult on this special day, 7th May.

June
My pink I/C was returned to me after a 2 years and 2 months hideout.
Started work at ECC - education center.
Pampered myself with a Philippe S+arck watch

July
Joined the fun CAC orientation camp and know a group of nice friends.
Matriculated as NUS student.
Lost my 10-day old handphone. Heart-wrenching.

August
Joined the not-so-fun Engin O Week.
Realisation of how NUS life is.

September
First test period after almost 3 years hiatus..

October
Nothing else but revolving around NUS. Lacklustre. Really.

November
Switching to mugging mode and almost going insane. The power of exams.

December
Back to work at ECC. Mistakes made.
Seen the real and harsh side of people. Disappointed.
Testimonial of my intelligence level. I just need to work harder.

4 more hours to 2006.

Hoping for a better year.

I'll shed those blues....

A string was being pulled at one end. It never was given any slack. It just got pulled tighter and harder each time, albeit the movement can be minute...

On the other end, it was fluctuating. At times, it was being pulled also, giving the string a slight taut. At times, the pull gave way to the pull from the other end... Then suddenly, this end was being pulled, compounding tension bit by bit. It didnt end.

The string broke.

It can never be fitted back.

The other end will never suffer from the ever-pulling end again.

Liberation.

Is it a joke?

Results were out finally after the agonizing wait yesterday.

I still remembered how i was commenting on the expected results i would get...

My results arent quite fantastic...

And indeed, ironically, the best grade i've gotten comes from the English module. Yes, the most difficult to score in the past and now, the grade that surpassed all other academic modules for the first time in my life... Yet, this time, no matter how well i did for this module, it wont make any difference. What a waste.

Second joke came from the Maths module. It tied with my English module. Seriously, i didnt expect it - the module i thought i would get the lousiest grade have transcended to be one of the best grade i've gotten... Hail Maths. Godly.

The champion joker goes to Living with Maths module. I thought i did well. Yet, in the end, it became the worst grade i've gotten... Pulled my already bad CAP down further.. Damn it. Now, I don't recommend anyone to take this module despite how easy it was. Unless you are capable of getting 100/100 for your paper...

Oh well, next semester wont be easy... It didnt help either when i see how people do badly for programming...

Yet, another retreat yesterday night. Two in a row aint that bad.. The queue at MOS was terrifying. It was already 12am, yet the queue was long enough to form one round around a 400m track. And Im not talking about standing in single file... Imagine it.

So we changed to Club Momo. The queue was probably just 10m or even less, but it was still very crowded inside. Probably due to a birthday bash for the club's boss yesterday. It was very hard to move around and everywhere we would be surrounded by a certain 'group' of people. No wonder the queue at MOS was mostly Chinese. LOL.

Anyway, it was tiring. I'd probably danced a total of 7 hours in two nights. Sheesh.... And it wasnt me who wanted to stay til 4.30am! Ha..

Christmas eve is here.

What can i do?

Friday, December 23, 2005

The wait is agony. 2 more hours to go before the truth is out..

Really. I sense the worst coming. Premonition.

Too much optimism is gonna break me real hard when things dont go smoothly..

I pray.

A little retreat yesterday.

Decided to go for the Nereus dinner. Meeting time was at 5.30pm. But im a little big shot - i reached at 7.30pm. Ha.. felt so paiseh..

Later met another group to go to Bizad Club bash at Chinablack. Turned out i only know 2 out of the the 9 people. And interestingly, 3 are Alvin's medicine frens. Haha....

And it was getting boring at the start. Just besides my table happened to be my Nereus group. Yay, and i know all of them. So it was quite dilemma on who to join - The group i came with and dunno most of the people or the group i was with and i know most of the people... In the end, i just mingled here and there.... Met Zhichao there too. Quite nice to see a good friend i havent met for long there. Ha.

Left at 3am. Then had a little meal at Mac's. Yes, only left JH and 3 other Alvin's frens. Haha.. So funny...

Was quite tired after hours of grooving...

Oh well, getting panic for the release of results....

My hair is getting real long. It has been 2 and a half months already...

But seriously, dont quite understand how much i have changed with longer hair...

Saw Zhichao and Roy at Forum today after work. And it was only 7 months ZC last saw me and he said i have changed so much now with longer hair. R even thought i was a salesperson trying to approach them for something....

Then went for a family dinner. First thing i entered the house, comments just sprung up: "Wah, keep long hair ar", "Hair so long ar". One of my aunt even asked, "You have stylist to design your hair ar?"

... ... ...

"No lah, it is school holidays, so i didnt cut" was my reply to them.

And my uncle just looked at me and commented, "Hmmm... hair longer already, a bit more fleshy already. Fairer also."

I just smiled. Getting irritated.

And the last one actually came from my sister. She asked, "Why your hair so long?" Same reply from me. "But ok lah, you have changed. Look different."

And also JH too. Met during Funka first banner painting day and i was told he almost couldnt recognise me....

Sighz.. why it seems that their reactions are so exaggerated?

Think im gonna cut my hair real soon. Im getting quite impatient about it also..

But, it is 2 and a half months old already...

Dilemma..

But at least, Im getting fatter...
But no, i dont want to be fairer...

Christmas is coming.
Festive mood is intensifying.
School holiday is ending.

On saturday was Funka banner painting.
In the afternoon, missed the briefing.
At 7pm, left NUS to go Orchard for a last minute present shopping.
Entered an 'adult shop' was eye-opening.

At 9.30pm, we (only LH, HJ, WY & me) then reached the place of Group 6s gathering.
A few generations of Group 6s members were there chatting.
Then it was time for present exchanging.
Getting a Doraemon desk vacuum cleaner was interesting.
Eating 1 slice of pizza & 2 brownies werent quite filling.

Taboo and Pictionary were games that we were playing.
Quite exciting.
XH's state of natural high is always neverending.
What a joyous mood she enjoys creating.

Left shortly to catch the last bus from departing.
Though short, the time was worth spending.
Hopefully, the yearly gatherings will not be ceasing.
I will still be joining.

Yeah, i have nothing better to do than this. Lol..

It is very common to hear expletives (euphemism for CCB, F*CK etc etc) from people who seems able to inject naturally in their conversation..

When i was still in NS, carrying the SAR21, standing at the gates and oogling at girls checking visitors/staffs passes or ICs, I was so bored that i thought of a thesis to write should i major in psychology in NUS.

My research topic i came out with was "Why human beings use vulgarities? or "The purposes of vulgarities in daily conversation and the effects on human behaviour."

On a sidenote, I was chatting with A and M when doing duty at that time. They said studying psychology can be a counsellor next time. I don't understand. I think studying philosophy will be a better choice for a counsellor. It's his job to talk some sense and life philosophy to the person on counselling. Shouldnt it be this case?

Anyway, back on my thesis, i even thought of some of my survey questions to be asked. For example,

How often do you use vulgarities?"
1. Not at all.
2. Only when agitated.
3. Once every 10 sentences.
4. Once every 4 sentences.
5. Every sentences.
And
What language are your vulgarities? Please give examples."
1. English
2. Mandarin
3. Hokkien
4. Others

Ok, enough of crapping. Even though i didnt study psychology, i managed to come out with some reasons why people use vulgarities, what they are thinking when they use and what is the effect they wish to impose on people they talk to when using vulgarities...

Having said that, i found myself a big problem. If people should say vulgarities, especially F**k you to me when i did nothing wrong in the very FIRST place, i would get very piss. It doesnt help either if it was said in a joking tone.

Like someone has said, im pain in the arse.

Sometimes, a little trick or test on people around you could reveal their hidden true self to you.

I've tried and im quite dissappointing with the outcome.

Life is unfair. Being nice wont survive. No one will reciprocate.

Dont expect too much. In the end, dissappointment is inevitable.

The new timetable for semester 2 is out.

And the moment i look at my lab, taking my group as A08A....

Im gonna faint... and that not's including programming lab once every two weeks on wednesday...

Sighzz...

Seriously, working and having to work during the short holidays can be a real mood-damper...

Today, was Funka banner painting day. Managed to get leave from work a week ago even though today's meeting was briefly mentioned during last meeting before the exams and not announced until friday...

So the painting started at around 1.30pm and we still havent finished when the sky was dark at 7pm. We have 3 long banners and 1 giant banner to paint. Ha, probably will be hung up before school starts in 9th Jan...

Indeed, banner painting is more fun than working.....

Did something happen?

The Banner-Painting Squad

And jokes from people just kept the rest entertained. Like how JH thought mixing of yellow, blue and red paint will give white paint. Yeah, only lights work this way. Haha..

Anyway, back to mundane work tomorrow again..

And banner painting part 2 cum meeting-the-contestants-for-briefing this saturday!

Everyone make mistakes. Im not excluded. I've made two.

First, i shouldnt have agreed to go back to the same place to work. It is stressful. There are so many things to do and she just wanted everything to complete by this month. Poor samuel is struggling. Me too. Just like yesterday, i only left office at 8.10pm and i still didnt finish my work. Yes, she wanted to be done by yesterday as she needs the materials today. Not to mention i only started with the materials at 2pm+..

Shouldnt holidays be enjoying and having fun?

I wish i can...

It is back to the level of stress during exam period.. but a little lower.. Still, stressless is ideal.

What about second mistake?

I've been treating with 신 포도...

That's korean...

It came too fast. It seemed so close. It was so real.

Not just another deja vu, it appeared to be...

I panicked. I ran. I hid. I followed. I watched. I gasped.

Not once. Not twice. It happened. . .

I woke up. . . It was a dream i have never dreamt of dreaming.

Yet, it left me traumatized. Why did it happen?

I need to wake up.

If you have watched how Nicole Tay fell not once, not twice but thrice off the balancing beam and yet managed to bear the pain and hold back her tears and complete her routine, you should be impressed by her spirit and determination...

Some pictures here if you have missed it.. It was kinda touching.. Ha

On the other hand, i found it quite funny that Singapore has a new swimmer from China. It was her debut appearance yet she managed to got 2 golds so far. Not only that, she broke the National record by almost 5 seconds. Seems so easy like that. Arent records usually got broken by milliseconds each time? Her standards are like for Asian Games instead. Singapore totally win already lor. So cheating.

Anyway, my ex-boss of ECC called me unexpectedly tonight and the first question she asked was if i have finished my exams. She is godly. It was only over for just 2 days. Then, she asked if i am going overseas. So straight to the point. So i was asked if i want to go back to work, to type all those documents again and to amend any things she has...

Actually, i wasnt quite willingly to work. One month is short. I want to have fun and rot after the exams. But she wanted me back since im familiar with all the stuffs. She said hiring new people means she has to teach them again. Oh well, i couldnt reject her. She is desperate as she wants everything to be done by this month. So i agreed. Gonna start working on monday.

But i did told her im gonna work for less than a month and i wont work 5 days a week cuz i might have other NUS activities to do. Erm... actually i dont really have except Funka which isnt quite time-consuming. Yes, just some reasons to make her change her mind in employing me. But, failed.

Back to desk-bound, 10 to 7pm job again. Boring.

Sometimes, ignorance is indeed bliss. I mentioned before it is in fact just an escapism from reality. We gotta face the reality.

Contradictingly, it seems knowing something one shouldnt know in the first place can alter one's perception forever..

Ignorance is really bliss?

Im experiencing Exams Withdrawal Syndrome now...

Exams are over finally with Physical Chemistry paper as the grand finale.. But im seriously feeling a slight sense of guilt when watching tv or not touching any books... So not used to not studying after mugging for the past 3 weeks... Ha

Anyway, I dont like the questions in the paper. My most hated topic came out, not just 1 question but 3 out of 5 questions on Chemical Kinetics! Where is Thermodynamic? Where is Electrochemistry? Damn. No choice but chose 2 of them to do...

Fortunately it is opened-book exam. I brought in a lot of stuffs: A-Level notes, lecture notes, photocopied notes from textbook on all chapters and tutorials/exercises. And the table was a bit smaller than the MPSH's. My table was damn messy and stacked with lots of notes. I seriously flipped through my notes when doing all questions.. Waste of time... but at least i managed to complete all 4 questions except the first question where i didnt know how to do and give up. Since the parts were linked from one another, not knowing how to do the very first part means doom for the whole question. So, I just put in all relevant equations in and hopefully they gave me marks for that. (For mid-term test, the lecturer actually gave 13 out of 25 marks just for an equation alone!) The last 2 questions were easy. Some parts were just from the lecture notes. Hmm... I wondered if they will penalise for plagiarism since i copied whole explanations straight from the notes as my answers.. Ha. Lazy to rephrase them.

But still, it is finally OVER. Semester 1 is over!

7 more semesters to go...

... ... ...

Great.

Caught Harry Potter after that and the feeling of going town was exceptionally different and nice after like 2++ months of NUS to home to NUS to home to NUS....

Need more fun to refresh my lacklustre life. And yes, will be going to Nanyang Poly for Funka publicity today... Ha, it was near my house as compared to Ngee Ann and Singapore which i dun have to go..

So fun.

Is this going to be the future Singapore MRT line...?

Certainly looks impressive but it isnt a real, official map. It has become so complicated and it seems, everywhere will be accessible in Singapore in future. Buses are going to extinct!

Anyway, 12 more hours to my final paper and 14 more hours to holidays!

I cant focus on my study cuz once a while, my mind will wander off, thinking of the fun and things i am going to do after exams..

Ho ho ho...

Ok, back to study! Ha

Santa Claus is coming to town....

There seems to be an interesting situation happening...

The more time i spent studying on a subject, the worse i will probably perform for the paper...

It was Living with Maths paper yesterday. I think the paper was not that difficult. Some of the questions are so typical tutorial questions that i was flipping through my textbook and tutorial solutions when answering and literally copying the method and even explanation. Yes, it was opened-book. And so far, it is the only paper i have completed right on the dot. But of course, that doesnt mean i have all the correct answers, otherwise i would be a genius.

Anyway, if all things goes well, including getting method marks for some wrong answers i know i have, i think it is even possible to get 90/100. Ah yes, seems unbelievable, but that's only if i got correct for those took-me-quite-some-time-to-think probability, combination and permuations questions as well. However since it is easy, everyone should be doing well for it. But still, i hope to get at least A- for it to pull my CAP score up..

And as i was saying about the time spent studying, for EAP, I only spent less than 1 hour reading through the notes the night before. And seriously, writing the essay wasnt difficult. And since only a pass is required, it isnt that difficult.

Next, for Living with Maths, i only spent around 4-5 hours on it - reading through the thin textbook, tutorials and past year papers....

The next subject was probably Statics. I sort of gave up on it such that i only studied on the day before. Hence, spending total of around 11-12 hours on it. Despite completed only 3 out of 4 questions, i seriously hope i've got the correct answers, if not correct method for them. Surprisingly, i got the same answer for one question as other people who posted in the forum. It was about calculating friction coefficient. At first, i got 3++. Very odd. So i changed my steps a bit and got the answer as 0.17. Very big difference. And seriously, i wasnt good at such question before and i still believed my method was wrong somewhere but still got the correct answer. So in all, hoping to get at least a B for it.

Next was physics and maths. They tied. Spending about 32 hours on physics over 4 days and 25 hours for maths, i did equally bad for both. Physics was perhaps slightly a bit better than maths in a way. Ha, i cant help but putting my maths help sheet up....

Spent a lot of time doing it and it did prove useful during the exam. Though words are an average 2mm tall, some 1mm, i still can read them. But still, maths was the worst of all. After counting, i really got at least 40 marks gone. Failed the paper already. Now, im hoping everyone will do badly for it and i will be on par. Ha. Im EVIL. But hoping at least C+ for both.

See. The more time i spent studying on a subject, the worse i will perform for the paper...

Should i spend time on my last paper, Chemistry on tuesday?

Ha, it is a joke if i don't.

Thursday, November 24, 2005

Im seriously exhausted... mentally and physically..

Sleeping at 4am and waking up at 6.45am for two days in a row is sure draining me... First, it was for statics yesterday. Then it was for Maths today.

But somehow, it din quite pay off despite my effort....

Statics on wednesday seems ok to a lot of people. But for me, i din do one question. I mainly focus on three other questions. So 25 marks gone... But somehow, i answered one small last part of that question that asked which side should an injured NUS lecturer hold his clutch if he injured his right leg.. Ha. 5 marks question and supposedly to answer using the previous part. But since i din do, i still answered that part.

I said right, and explained that since his right leg was injured, his right foot cant touch the ground. Seems to be common sense.. Ha. I was crapping. Reminds me how for physics paper, i also answered one question lamely : "Is the orbital path for a satelite circular? Why?" I said "No, because it is eclliptical." Yeah, i wasnt answering anything...

Anyway, Im pinning hope for the three questions i answered for statics. Though i wasnt very sure the correct answers/method, i still hope they can award marks for the concept and diagrams...

And maths paper today. Was damn tired for sleeping less than 2.5 hours. The paper din seems easy to me because i couldnt answer all the questions. Damn. Some questions werent difficult actually, but somehow, i couldnt think. Oh well, blame myself for not studying hard enough...

But seriously, mugging everyday in school from 1pm to 9/10pm in the library everyday isnt hard enough, what is?

Sighz.. still have Living with Maths paper tmr. Yes, having three papers in a row in three days is tiring. But sure wont beat those who have 4 or 5 papers in a row. Ha, some consolation.

I need some sleep now...

Tuesday, November 22, 2005

The weather is so nice, so cool, so comfortable. How i wish i can sleep.. but CANT!

9 more hours to Statics and Mechanic of Materials paper. Dreaded this. I know i cant pass. Imagine looking at 5 questions from past year paper and i only know how to do 1. This paper is open-book.

How easy can the paper be? It CANT be.

Oh well, hopefully drawing free body diagrams can give me like 20% of the marks. But of course, drawing correctly is important in the first place...

Maths paper on thursday and i still havent finished studying on it. Imagine i spent 6 hours just to read through and understand 19 pages of notes on part I of series...

Question: What does Harry Porter story have in common with Power, Taylor, Maclaurin and Fourier?
Answer: They are all SERIES!

Yay.. lame.

Friday, November 18, 2005

The battle continues next wednesday...

EAP paper was yesterday. And i was late. Damn the morning bus for moving slowly in a traffic jam. Reaching at 9.05am certainly gave me a seemingly insigificant but actually very crucial 5-minute disadvantage. Every minute counts...

The topics were on English learning and holiday/volunteer work. I chose the question that was about 'What is a good holiday? What are the factors that make a holiday an enriching experience? Why?' Ah, yes, EAP essays topics are relative direct and simple. But i cant agree on one: "Compare the way of English learning in your home country with Singapore's...." Hey.. Obviously this question is not for the Singaporean students! How biased. Haha

But how ironic. In JC, GP was my lousiest and most feared and loathed subject. And now, english became my favourite and the easiest to pass. In fact, i enjoyed English lessons with the interesting tutor and the people in my class....

Physics paper today. My heart beat was accelerating minutes before the start of exam. I suddenly felt as if im going to forget whatever i had studied for the past 4 days. But i resigned to fate.

As usual, nothing is easy. All thermodynamics question i dont really know how to do. And interestingly, some questions can be so short and simple until there seems to have insufficient information or clue on how to do. And 3 out of 6 short qns and 1 out of 2 long qns didnt involve any numbers and answers are just variables.

Really a test of understanding and not pure memorising..

But still, time to keep all Physics notes away and hopefully wont see them ever again..

Anyway, when the papers were being collected, i think someone got caught cheating. He looked like a China scholar and he was just a few tables diagonally away from me. At first, an invigilator was seen talking to him or something, but thought nothing special. But a while later, the ang moh chief invigilator walked to him. This time, it attracted the attention of several people at my region. I saw the ang moh flip through a small piece of folded paper and keep it. Then he took the China scholar paper, wrote something on it and took it away. That student appeared expressionless. Later, he packed his stuff and was asked to sit right in front of the examination hall...

Poor scholar. I supposed that paper was his cheating tool. Well, the worst outcome for him would be expel. How sad.

Oh well... cheating is bad. But if cheat, just don't get caught. Hahaha..

Wednesday, November 16, 2005

Yeah... 32 more hours to mark the unstoppable beginning of the onslaught!

Gonna face the english paper first.. Ha, the only paper im not going to do any preparation until the last hour by reading through some notes...

It has been 3 days since i've started studying on Physics and i have not finished.

Darn. Cant finish studying and i fear i cant remember anything i have studied. I foresee a stunned face when i look at the paper. Thoughts of putting down my pen, standing up, and walking to front to hand in a blank paper will then fill my mind.

But no, i cant do it...

Damn Physics. Why cant they provide us a formula list or allow us to bring a help sheet like maths. O Level, A Level and Uni. None has provided us at least some formulas to save us from memorizing. And now, we have at least 90 formulas to remember, an average of 5 per chapter. An underestimation i believe.

Maths is so much better. They always provide us some formulas. And better, we can bring a help sheet to our paper this time. Gotta squeeze as much formulas and even examples as possible into a 2-sided A4 paper..

Fortunately, Statics, Chemistry and Living with maths are opened book. So much more realistic isnt it? In real life, dont we have the chance to refer to books when we have to solve problems?

14 days to fun!

Sunday, November 13, 2005

No no no no.. 4 days to exams..

Yes yes yes yes.. 16 days to holidays..

Delirious i am.

Mugging mode i need.

Infomation keeps going in. Yet for equilibrium, energy needs to be given out.

Im hungry 24/7.

Seriously, NUS is a scary place..

It was 5pm on a saturday and most tutorial rooms were occupied by muggers.. I was there to join the forces of the mugger but, damn, couldnt find an empty room for myself to study.. And library and YIH study room are out of the question. They are always 90% full at any time.. since YIH is 24hourly opened.. Students camp there...

Ended up at a loner bench outside LT1. Though no air-con, it was peaceful and secluded.. Managed to finish all remaining Statics online tutorial questions except the 2 discussion questions for simple beam experiment.

And im not going to touch Statics anymore until the eve of this exam paper.

Need to focus on physics now.

Hiaz.. Physics is so hard...

Tuesday, November 08, 2005

9 more days to exams... Panic panic panic.

To think i went to Eugene's birthday BBQ at Downtown East on saturday nite and played 2 games of bowling put me into uneasiness.

On top of that, i have fallen sick. On monday noon, my nose began to drip like a leaking tap perodically. This morning, it was serious nose block and dry cough. And at evening time, i began to feel feverish...

But thanks to 2 Panadol tablets, my fever has subsided. Nose still blocked despite taking cold relief tablets. Occasional cough also.

Ahh.. bad to fall sick now. Exams are coming. Gotta see the free doctor at NUS if still persist. Ha..

Got back my Statics quiz results. Well, i have fallen into those category of people i loathe. And yes, there are people in my class who got 20/20...

But seriously, my tutor has been lenient. He passed everyone in the class. My question 1's answers are all wrong as i made a mistake in the first step and some missing forces in two of the free body diagrams drawn and hence, affected all calculations. And second question, all answers wrong too; forgot to multiply perpendicular distance in first part; wrong equation used for second part and third part; uncompleted third part; no explanation given for last part...

Obviously, i would have gotten a U. But lucky to get a pass.

Gotta force myself to love Statics, Physics and Chemistry. Only then i will probably put in more effort to do well...

It's hard though.

Thursday, November 03, 2005

I feel so guilty.

2 public holidays in a week put me into holiday mood.

I couldnt study, especially when at home.

Exams in 14 days time. And i have probably only studied 10% or even less.

I kept thinking how i will change faculty at the end of semester 1.. how im not cut out to be an engineer.. how if i cant get into environmental engineering, im probably dead in other engineering... how statics and mechanics have dragged me... how am i going to face tougher semester 2 modules - programming, electrical, critical thinking and writing, Maths II, Physics II.... how.. how... how...

But well, Im forcing these negative thoughts to keep out of me. Im trying hard.

But darn those people who are out to get straight As, CAP 5.0, and full marks for every tests and exams. They are just adding stress to every other people.

Im a victim.

Saturday, October 29, 2005

It was a Saturday afternoon and i felt an urge to release some stress.. Yet, i couldnt get anyone.

Felt so depressed once more after the Statics test. No, it was called a quiz.

It happened again. It will happen again. Getting a U for this quiz seems inevitable. This is serious. Getting two U in a row is serious.

How?

After the test, couldnt stand how people kept complaining how tough the paper was, how they couldnt get the answer. Yes, it happened before in the first quiz and in the end, what were the grade of these people? Satisfactory and even Excellent.

So i spoke.

"If you all kept saying how badly you have done and in the end, you all got Excellent, i would probably slap you!"

It was a joke. Underlyingly, a pseudo joke.

Two days ago, I was lamenting with the group of performance-on-par people over lunch how hypocritic people were. First, they complained how bad they have done for their tests and later, they received results better than they seemed to portray before. On a sidenote, i wasnt having lunch with the people of the same lecture group as me.

People are misleading. How scheming.

Be it intentional or unintentional, I felt disappointed and to a certain extent, infuriated again and again.

Oh well, life's like that.

19 days to exam.

31 days to holidays.

Monday, October 24, 2005

Felt good after completing my last and final 15-page chemistry lab report in 8 hours. Managed to do the reports in shorter and shorter time. Ha. Yes, i did it in a week advance.

Procrastination is bad.

Didnt study much over the weekend, but i managed to complete physics online tutorials and now wait for the next one. Ha. Also finished statics online tutorials, except the one just released today.

Completing some work does make ones feel good.

However, EAP mock exam tmr and statics test this saturday. Hiaz.. totally lost.

Funka publicity drive this week and i will be at science and arts this wed and thurs. Cool.

Do check out the posters that are posted around NUS.. In Science, Arts, Biz, Law, Engin, SOC and YIH... And i think also in JCs and NTU, SMU.. Perhaps, polys too.. hmm..

Ha.. my work

Sunday, October 23, 2005

Seriously, it has been a dull and lacklustre week. Nothing but studies.

Felt like im reaching a crossroad. I saw a red-light stop signal in front.

Should i wait for the little stoppage in my smooth journey to be over and continue going straight...?

Or should i make a left turn for a non-stop yet consequential drive which leads to a new path...?

Not much time left for a decision....

So much pressure from all sides...

25 days to exams..

37 days to holidays..

Your Birthdate: May 7

Born on the 7th day of month gives you a tendency to be something of a perfectionist and makes you more individualistic in many ways.
Your mind is good at deep mental analysis and complicated reasoning.
You are very psychic and sensitive, and you should usually follow your hunches.

You may not take orders too well, so you may want to work alone or in a situation where you can be the boss.
This birthday gives a tendency to be somewhat self-centered and a little stubborn.

How true. Am i so typical? If yes, how can i still be individualistic? Contradiction!

Complicated reasoning and analysis in process...

No no... Im psychic. I have the powers and bossiness to demand what it should be.

Stubborn I am.

This is bad. I've begun to feel a bit slack in my studies.

34 days to start of final exams. Seems like i have to use this count-down method to force myself to study..

Chemistry test on tuesday was a disaster. Confirmed to have failed. But how could that lecturer told us we could actually discuss when taking the test only on thursday. Furthermore, he felt surprised no one discussed during the exams since it was an open-book test.

...

Finally had our english grammar group presentation on thursday after being post-poned 3 times. And we actually took 1 hr 30 minutes for our presentation - going through the grammar on 'transitions', doing 2 exercises and 1 passage with 4 questions. Yes, our lesson was only 2hours..

EAP test tomorrow. My sixth test for this term. Need to do well despite having no modular credits..

Pray pray pray...

Here's come the weekend, but it's not for relaxation. Rather, it's a break for catching up on tutorials and studying.

What a weekend break.

4 days to chemistry test, 8 days to EAP test and 41 days to the start of final exams. How fast it can be. No time, no time...

Anyway, my second chemistry lab report was just 14 pages. And spent roughly 15 hours doing it. Compared with my first report which i got A- (Ha.. the only A i got), it seems i spent an average of 1 hour doing per page... Report 3 due in 11 days time... Ahh..

2 bloggers got jailed sentences. How interesting it can be. But well, rights to freedom of speech doesnt equate the rights to make insults/slanders/racism publicly.

So we should do it privately instead.

Works seem neverending. As this week's works are done, next week's are up...

The next chemistry lab report is due this wednesday and im still working on it. Not even halfway done.. Yet, i still have a group grammar presentation to prepare by this tues...

Also, chemistry tutorial by this wednesday, physics tutorial this thursday, maths tutorial this friday...

Not forgetting the physics online tutorial due by tomorrow and statics online tutorial due next monday..

Oh my.. im so buried. So lagging.

So dead.

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

Had a bad start on monday as i woke up at 10.30am and my statics lecture started at 10am... I did set my alarm but guessed i off it and went back to sleep. This is the result of mugging til 4am....

Fortunately, my Living with Maths test is at 12.15pm. Should i wake up at 11am, i definitely got to take a cab down to NUS already...

The test was similar to those exercises found in the textbook. I think the lecturer is lazy to think of new questions. Haha.. But still, the test is interesting..

Here's one:

All statements here are false.
The preceding statement is true.
The following statement is false.
Some of the statements are true.
The preceding statement is false.

So think whether each of the statement is true or false.

Maths test in the evening at 7.30pm. Almost late because the frequency of the shuttle bus was 18 to 25minutes!

Well, the maths test wasnt that difficult except for last few questions. But the thing was, we were in LT and we were not seated separately. Cheating Checking answers among each other bound to happen. In the maths forum, tutors were also commmenting on how they saw students looking left and right and talking during the test. Bad.

And when the test ended, it was chaotic. As we personally have to move down to the front of LT to put our answer sheets into the respective envelope, people took the chance to compare answers. Yes, it was definitely chaotic. Yet, the invigilators didnt seem to notice or bother..

Oh well, i guess the results of the people taking in the LT will be relatively much better than those who took in hall. Poor them.

Chemistry test is 2 weeks later. Still have time to catch up.

Thankfully, 4 tests were over finally..

It's only half-way through the 4 mid-term tests i have within 4 days yet, my confidence has fallen ten-folds...

Last time SY told me, "Aiyah, dont need to study for physics MCQ test one lah..... because you wont know how to do one. So don't waste time. Just di-gam can already"

She was right.

Yesterday's physics test, out of the 15 MCQs which we had to complete in 1 hour, i only managed to do probably 1 or 2 questions with confidence. And it was an amazing feat to 'complete' 5 questions within the last 5 minutes. Di gam did the job. How exciting and fun that physics had given me the chance to relish such childhood game.

After checking answers with the astonishing smart JL who probably got like 13 out of 15 correct, while the last 2 he wasnt too sure, i probably would get marks between 2 to 5 out of 15. It all depends on the accuracy of my guessed answers which i had forgotten what i had chosen.

Wasted too much time spent studying physics during the break.

Today was Statics test. Spending lesser time studying it as compared to physics was a mistake....

I should not have spent wasted any time on it. Same as physics, the outcome is comparable.

Judging on the amount of time we spent doing statics tutorial questions, we should be given like 2 - 3 hours for the test, but no, we were given only 1 hour to complete 2 questions. Despite being an open-book test, it seems futile to check any references to do the questions. As it is not MCQs, di-gam wouldnt help..

Oh well, I hope im not alone. Being the mean me, i just pray everyone did just as badly...

But somehow, foreign students seem to be too overpowering. Having them around forces one to get full marks for every tests... or else, just too bad..

Maths test is next. It is 12 MCQS. And if i dont get even like 10 or 11 correct, it is probably the same as FAILED!

THEY are just super-abnormal...

The short (study) break is over and it's gonna be back to reality once more tomorrow...

Physics term test or rather, quiz tomorrow and it seems this break has turned out to be quite unproductive. I have not touched anything on maths and living with maths modules, thinking this weekend is time to mug hard..

No, neither have i touched a lot on statics, mainly because i have given up hope on it. Ha.. Physics is my main priority, yet.........

I just gonna pray hard now....

How i look forward to the next break, but it will only be after the final exams.. Ahh.. that's fast...

It seems.

Monday, September 19, 2005

The mid-term break has finally started and so far, i havent started any studying significantly.

This is bad with my holiday mood too over-powering for me. But still, thinking that i have left 4 days to my physics test, 5 days to statics test, and 7 days to maths and living with maths module tests, I have no choice but to start studying right after this.

The weekend was a transitional breather. Went to one of CAC Group 6 great-grand-senior's house for a mass gathering. Well, the turnout wasnt that massive, but probably around 15 to 20 people. And the thing was, it was a gathering also for the past 10 batches of group 6. So except for my own batch, dont really know the rest and who is from which batch. Surprisingly, Elvin, a model-actor who acted before in a drama serial by NKF was there... ok.. i managed to find his pic...OK, Joanna Peh wasnt at the gathering.. Yah, he was also from past batches of Group 6. Cool.

Another surprise we got was some magic shows performed by the brother of the senior whose house we were at. Her brother was impressive. He managed to make a plastic fork jump out of a cup without touching anything, except using his hands as action around the cup. Cool. Also, he managed to twist and bend a metal fork effortlessly with some shaking and rubbing. Usually, such stunts are only seen on tv. And that left us speechless. Spooky.

Rushed down with the rest to Suntec to watch Suntec Dance Finals. The dances were great and we were there mainly to see how competition turned out.

And on Sunday night, went to watch a concert with the Group 6 people by the graduates of Jitterbugs. Nice dances they had there..

Seems like im getting exposed to the dance scenes in Singapore. Insipred me a bit, but no, i cant dance...

Sighz... I need to must mug now.

My chemistry lab report was finally finished today, using a total of about 16 hours, spanning over 4 days. But, comparing with WS who used 20 hours and KR possibly more than 20hours also, i think im the lucky one.

Looking at the printed finished report which is 19 pages in all, i felt a sense of achievement. Ha. But, it wont last long because tomorrow, i'll embark on another new chem lab experiment, which means another report to type. Dreaded.

Well, no time to relax. I still have an english paragraph to write by tonight and send it over to my group members for editing and later submit the finished product this thursday, and need to rush my chem tutorial for discussion tomorrow. Oh well, dont think i can finish tonight.

I dont have much midnight oil left...

But still, looking forward to the mid-term break, starting from this friday 12pm because it is Engin Day and all lessons cancelled after 12pm. Yeah..

Mugging time!

2 more weeks to mid-term tests.

I need to study real hard. Have been lagging behind still cuz i simply couldnt do much tutorials questions without staring at them for hours.

Lectures didnt seems to help much or provide hints to solving most tutorial questions. In the end, we just have to rely on our ability to think. Dozing off during lectures are unavoidable with the late night's tutorials pia-ing. I need to change.

Still have so many things to do - Chemistry lab report due in 5 days time, neverending weekly physics and statics online tutorials, maths weekly tutorial, english assignments and project and luckily for a little breather, bi-weekly tutorial for physics, statics and chem...

Stress is building up in me and have found some relations:

1. Stress is inversely proportional to my energy level during lectures and hence directly proportional to the chance of dozing off during lecture.

2. Stress is directly proportional to the frequency of hunger. Been getting hungry so easily and torturing myself by not eating enough. I had enough and hence splurged yesterday for more food (After morning lecture, bought a chicken roll pie. Lunch ate bak chor mee. Then had 3 cups of free ice milo at Central forum. 4pm had an egg tart before lecture. Had burger king meal for dinner together with some sushi from NTUC. Also bought my favourite SaraLee Chesscake and some breads for night snacks). But all these come with a hole in my wallet..

3. Stress is inversely proportional to the number of hours of sleep per night.

4. Stress is directly proportional to the outbreaks of pimples. Clearly shown.

I need to start studying, to catch up what im laggin behind. I need to do well for mid-term tests.

Ahh.. more stress...

Despite being buried by tons of endless tutorials, i managed to find leisure and fun for the past week....

Last sunday was Alvin's 21st birthday. We had a KTV session til my voice was hoarse and later had a lavish Japanese dinner, suggested by Simon.. Ah... think Alvin spent way too much already. Thanks for the dinner anyway.. Haha.

Back in NUS on Tuesday and there was a Megasale with brands like G2000, U2 and Fox. The offers were great and Sebas and i couldnt resist the offer. I bought a U2 short sleeves shirt while he bought G2000 stripe long sleeves shirt, each for $19 (usual price $39). Ha.. the next day, the sale was still on and so went there again, accompanying WeeHong and also with Sebas. Again, we bought some more. I bought a U2 polo tee for $16 (UP.$39) and a G2000 long sleeves white shirt for $19 (UP.$43). Sebas bought 2 more shirts and Weehong also. We spotted a G2000 pants selling for $19 and it's original price was a whooping $119. OMG.. too bad, there was only 1 left we could find from the heap and it was not our size.. (Later, got to know that someone *ahem* managed to bought 2 of that $119 pants and he went right 1hr after the sale had started on the first day. Wah lao..)

Our shopping spree din end here. Thursday was Vanity Fair, selling perfumes and cosmetics products. Decided to pop over with Sebas to see any cheap bargains. Then we were shown a set of Clinique products for Men and it's price was way below outside market price. Very worth it. We found out about the Clinique lucky draw and there were 15 mini fridges which were said to worth $250, to be won. However, the catch was we had to purchase a minimun $ amount of its product to take part. We contemplated for quite some time. We had a strong feel that we would win. So finally at the last 30minutes before the draw, i bought the set of facial and grooming products.. and also Happy for Men perfume. Sebas wanted to share with me at first to chalk up the minimun spending, but pulled out last minute. So no choice, i bought all.

Still, i waited for the lucky draw while sebas went for his lecture. Names were called one by one, but not my name. Sianz.. Then got a called from May asking me where was i, yah i could see her. Immediately after we ended the called, my name was drawn. Ah, the call muz have brought me luck. I rushed down and collected my mini fridge. Haha..

The silver-finishing fridge was awfully pretty. But i din keep the fridge. Loan it to Sebas for his hostel for the time-being. Then, feeling bad, sebas bought the perfume set from me.. So share cost a bit. Ha..

I felt so lucky for the first time. Shopping rocks!

Celebrated Kangrui's 21st birthday yesterday. Ha.. had a fun time at Marche and later some chilling time at Preview Lounge. Yes, back there again for it's nice ambience... Played those lame games there. Ha, it was funny.

It's always enjoyable when we got together. And next will be Leonard's birthday liao. Haha

Weekend - currently my most forward looking days of the week.

Yet, i have allocated the weekend to be my study time. Yes, Monday to Friday of the week has hardly anytime to breathe - attending lectures and tutorials in the day and doing tutorials for the next day in the night..

3 weeks of uni life has past and it always feels like the exams are near. It's stressful to see people completing their tutorials effortlessly while i struggle to understand what is going on..

So far, i havent never been early for my day's first lecture. This is bad because i'm always at least 5 minutes late. Sometimes, at late as 20 minutes. But, i have 3 days where my first lectures are at 8am. Waiting for my bus is the main cause of my lateness. Ok, i need to change.

Getting so tired everyday..

During Nation Day Rally, Prime Minister mentioned how Singapore's service standards lag behind that of Hong Kong and other developed countries and issued a challenge to companies, service staff and customers alike, to improve Singapore's service culture. Despite that, today, i'd witnessed a lousy service quality which left me thinking there is not much hope for Singapore.

I was at Royal Sporting House in Suntec City. I wanted to buy sandals there. After choosing the one i want, i looked around for staff. Surprisingly no staffs actually approached me until i waved at one of them. So i asked for the size i wanted and he took quite some time to get it. What appalled me was, he actually put the shoe box onto the chair, opened up, took out one of the sandals for me and went away.

I thought, arent staffs supposed to stay there and wait for customers to try it on and see if it fits? But no. He left the sandals and went away some 10metres away to join other staffs to chat. Never mind, I thought. I tried on the sandals and it was just nice. Actually i wanted 1 size bigger, but seeing that he had gone and no staff was around, i abandoned that thought. Deliberately, i put the sandals back into the box slowly, put the box lid back, stood up, carried my bag and looked around, thinking that staff would come back. But no. Oh well, forget it then. I took the box of sandals to the counter myself and paid.

Then i thought, what a lousy service this place has. Whatever. That staff chose not to get his commission (if there is any) by not serving me. Or he must have thought i would not buy that sandals and it was a waste of his time serving me. This is bad.

When will Singapore have a world-class service standards?

I've been to Seoul and i must say, their service standards are way superior to Singapore's and that was 3 years ago. Honestly, their services are so good, it become a bit annoying. Imagine getting greeted at every corner in a supermarket, yes, just a supermarket like NTUC, and asked if they could help, albeit i dont understand korean. But still, it was a form of services they provided. I dont see that in Singapore.

You are left on your own.

Ha.. so glad i've gotten the tutorial slots i wanted from balloting. In the end, CORS bidding/balloting seems so exhilarating and fun, though sometimes can be nerve-wrecking when thousands rushed to login and cause a server breakdown..

Yes, tutorials will start next week onwards and together with lectures and lab sessions, my timetable is gonna be even packed. Hardly time to breathe...

Before all serious stuffs start, I need to relax and enjoy myself. So, I went to the Arts Bash at Club Momo on tuesday! Ha.. It was such a last minute decision to go. Anyway, crowd there was cool. Arts pageant was nice, though Miss Arts wasnt my first choice. Drinks were okay. Music was the usual mix. Met some friends there and someone blamed me for not introducing. Had partial deafness after that... haha.

Well, i skipped Sport bash tonight. No one is going. Sorry Elvin, couldnt support u there. Ha. Science bash this saturday and gy is asking us to go and support his fren. Well, dont think i will go.... But next wednesday is Biz's Bash, Mambo night at Zouk.. Hmmm.... Anyone?

University life is somewhat busy but boring, yet stressful..

Have been falling asleep during lectures and this is real bad. Perhaps i should not attend lectures at all and use the time for self-studying instead...

Still, to improve my time in NUS, perhaps i should join some activities. But, that's when the dilemma comes.... Wanted to join bowling in NUS and so went for the welcome tea last sunday. We bowled 4 games and i had developed a 'love-hate' relation with bowling...

When i bowled well, I felt so motivated and love bowling - I got 202 for my first game. The highest record... When i bowled badly, i felt so demoralised and hate bowling - I dropped horribly and stunningly to 96 for my second game.. Third game was better, i got 187. Fourth game dropped to 126...

I know my problem for bowling which was the too-high point of release of the bowling ball. Not quite the standard way for a spinner. Well, one of the seniors there told me also and that the coach will nag at me for the same thing next time if i dont improve. Oh well... but who cares as long as i got the strikes.

So now, i do not know if i want to join bowling.. The training is every monday 8 to 10pm. So late. And tomorrow is the start of training and i wasnt informed or reminded about it. Dilemma. This forced me to make a decision. Guess there is a high probability i wont be joining bowling. I better spend more time on my studies cuz they are my priority. Besides, i have Funkamania....

Well, think on the other side, bowling is a costly sport. Maybe i should spend time on activities that are cheaper...

School has started since monday. It was quite bad of me to be looking forward to the National Day on the very first day of school, cuz that implied no lectures!

Anyway, was out celebrating XL's birthday with my OG on national day and I missed out the telecast of NDP and fireworks. But well, nice day spent...

Lectures are mostly introductory for the first week and i have 4 lectures tomorrow! Meeting new and 'old' people everyday. Life has been interesting. But busy as usual with uncompleted tasks..

Funkamania XII!

Sunday, August 07, 2005

A busy week it had been...

The Freshmen Inauguration Ceremony commenced in the early morning with performance by CAC Voices, followed by a grand entrance of the Deans and Heads of NUS, speech and pledge taking..

I left shortly after lunch with my orientation group, to go Downtown East for a 3 days 2 nights chalet with fellow Namjians. Had our barbecue as early as 5pm+ as AM gotta leave soon. But still, food was insufficient to fill our stomachs. Haha..

Late at night, we had 4 seniors joining us for 2 games of bowling and later, played Indian Poker and the losers gotta drink Vodka mixed with Diet coke. Honestly, i only drank 3 cups, dunno why others thought i drank a lot and was drunk. Ha.. ok, im good at acting. It was 2am+ already and went to eat some noodles at a 24-hr coffee shop 20minutes walk away. Back at chalet, everyone was bored and decided to go to the beach. In the end, we were relishing moments of childhood at the Pasir Ris Park. It was fun but tiring. Din catch the sunrise and went back chalet to sleep. Almost 7am already. And it was only the first night.

Second day was a raining day. AM joined us again after NUS Flag day. And we played AM's Bored Game... Ok, a lot of lame questions, but funny nonetheless. Played some arcade games and pool before we started on our BBQ again. This time, we only left 6 people. Food was little also. But small group BBQ is not that bad after all. Haha.

Slept early that night at around 2am++ cuz the remaining people couldnt endure anymore after a 2hr 'Guess the pattern' game which YT wouldnt give up.

After checking out of chalet on Wednesday morning, i got home and started with my bidding for a GEM modules. It was so frustrating that the server was so overloaded, it was no way i could get in. Gave up at 2pm and the bidding closed at 3pm. So went to NUS to join the orientation...

When i reached there, G msged me that the closing time for bidding had extended to 5pm. Shortly after she informed me, J also called me about it and told me i could go Computer center to use the computers there. Wah... so touched that people already showed their concerns despite i merely told them at 2pm that i gave up that round of bidding already.. Great frens.

Joined my OG at 4pm++ and they were already at the second last station of the Amazing race. Din play any games then.

On thursday it was a day at Sentosa, but the rain spoilted it.Many people but we only started our games at 2pm+. The first game, squeezing water from a sponge into a bottle and this was similar to CAC one cuz we used body parts to move the sponge..Then we got dirty by muah cheeing ourselves and arranged the word 'CAP 5.0' which is the name for our group..Played Turtle-Turtle-Jump and we all got cream on our faces for losing..Almost got strangled by that Vietnamese who choked me a few times with her arm.. Haha..Ok, the water bags were used to throw into a pail after we spun around a stick 10 times...We only had time for 4-5 games... And after dinner, it was Engine Initation. We were officially welcomed into the Faculty of Engineering and the atmosphere was cool...They digged trenches in sand and put candles to make out the word 'ENGIN'. It was quite nice. We got an Engin T-shirt and a pin...

The next day, pool games were cancelled because they couldnt book the swimming pool. Instead, we had some land games...Played games like Three-legged soccer, Scissors, Paper, Stone, Transferring-Water-using-body-parts and Climbing-up-a-soapy-slope. That's all. Not enough time again.

Later, after some prize-giving, all the councillors lined up and the freshies shook hand with everyone...The line was very long.. Ha.

At night, we had Fright Night. Similar to CAC Camp's Fright night but much less frightening. We went to each place in group of 5 and even 8 people for our last station. Not much mission. Only had time for 3 stations and these 3 stations were at the same place as CAC's. Kinda expected. Ended at 2am+. Then had some pratas at a nearby shop, before resting at Ivan's hostel in Raffles Hall. It was 5am++ then. Din sleep much and woke up at 7am+ to assemble for the Rag Day..

Saturday was NUS Rag and Flag Day. Engin was the first faculty to present our float..Ok, Engin, wearing white was one of the largest group there. Faculty of Science and Business were two other large groups. Our float and performance...were so-so only... Business' float and performance were much better than us, but somehow, School of Design and Environment won the best float..Quite simple but they won. Dunno why.. Haha..And Simon was part of his faculty Rag team. He was dancing and if u look carefully, he was in the picture. Quite surprise he could dance hip-hop with style.. Impressed.Medicine had 'healthy-living' float. How apt. Haha.

Anyway, left with my group for lunch when it was Arts's turn and that was only the ninth float. Halfway through only. Bad thing about Engin being the first group - we were losing patience to stay through till the end.. Haha

With that, brought an end to our Orientation. It was exciting, fun and interesting though i skipped Flag Day but honestly, not as fun as most orientation camps before the orientation week.

Oh FU*K.. I lost my handphone which i just bought 10 days ago....

And how i lost it? There are only 2 possiblities.. One, i put my handphone in one compartment of my bag. I recalled when i was going to alight, i could be holding my bag in a position that my handphone had slipped out... I had reached NUS that time, i recalled that i checked before leaving the seat and din see my handphone...

Two, then i put my bag on a bench outside the CAC room. So I went toilet which is just in front of the bench, and later, i couldnt find my handphone. It could be stolen while i was in the toilet. But there were two people at that time. One guy was sitting facing the toilet and so his back facing my bag. The other girl was sitting at the other side. If someone took it, they would have seen it. And i only went to the toilet for less than 1 minute...

So now, im not sure if i had dropped it or someone or that guy sitting at the bench had stolen it. Damn.

Later, I asked the guy if he had seen anyone taking anything from my bag just now but he said no. I used JH's phone to call my phone and standing near that guy, hoping to hear the ringing. But, I realised i had put my phone in silent mode. Damn. And no one picked up. 15 minutes later, my phone was off! Damn. This means someone took it. I lost hope already. Then i called singtel to suspend my line.....

Oh well.... im so sad. I bought that handphone for $398 and using my own, hard-earned money... Gone just like that. So now, will either get a 2nd hand phone or repair my old sony ericsson. Sighz... should have done that when that sony ericsson handphone was spoilt....

Anyway, been going NUS for the past 5 days.. Yes, so tiring to travel to and fro. It was matriculation day on thursday. Finally got my matriculation card and officially a student. Also got a lot flyers from various clubs but i only signed up bowling and a club i forgot what it is about..

Went for the Maths revision lecture on wednesday, only to be shooed off by the lecturer because the response was overwhelming. The LT was not big enough to accommodate everyone. They din expect so many people to turn up. And i think there were more people standing outside the LT than sitting inside the LT. So in the end, non-polytechnic students have to leave. But, we went for the afternoon lecture though, occupying the seats right after the first lecture ended. Haha..

Then i saw Guowei. So after the lecture, went up to him and said 'hi'. He was stunned. So i asked my favourite question again, "Do you know who i am?". Apparently, he said i looked familiar but couldnt remember who am i. Haha.. And yes, he was surprised to find out im his primary school classmate. He should be the 8th one of those primary school classmates i've met so far to say i've changed a lot or worse, couldnt recognise me like Shaoqiang... Oddly, i dunno how much i've change since 1996 but of cuz, they also din see me for like 8 years also. So, sure will find that i've changed a lot...

School is starting soon. Next week is a busy week. I have chalet as well as orientation. And yes, im a committee member under publicty for the event, Funkamania XII. And my team of 4 guys have 2 weeks to rush out designs for flyers, postcards, posters, namecards and later, t-shirts and banners.

So stressed even before school starts.

Publicity is bad.

Oh my... even after attending the Engineering Tea Session today at NUS, im still quite unclear about the modules, tutorials, GEM/SS/Breadth and especially the CORS.

It is bad to be a Common Engineering student as we are like wandering ghost; we have no place where we belonged.....

Anyway, met a few familiar faces at NUS today. I saw Shaoqiang, my primary school friend. So i went up to him and say 'Hi!'. I asked him if he know who i am or not and he said 'No' while smiling confusedly. I asked him if he saw Qiuling also who was at the booth and he said 'No'. OMG.. and then he said something stunningly, "I forgot all my primary school friends already."

Three lines were seen on my forehead.....

Well, the lift came so i left with the rest, din bother to say bye to him or anything.. Haha.

Also met Weibing, Zhipeng and Shanwei. Talked with them a bit and sadly, they were not in the same engineering as me. Ahh...

School starting soon... Stressed.

Begin mugging maths tomorrow... Haha

Saturday, July 23, 2005

Went to NUS to take Qualifying English Test on wednesday. Oh well, hope i can pass it. The editing passage section was not that easy and the essay - 'Is the growing use of computers in classrooms today a cause for a alarm of celebration?'- sounded easy to most people but i wrote crap... Sighz.. I dont want to go for english modules....!

Anyway, after that, met the gang from Namji and we had a KTV session in Clementi PartyWorld. Ha.. din sing that much simply we had too many people - 12 freshies and 1 senior. Lol... It was an enjoyable time nonetheless..

After struggling with my old Sony Ericsson's cant talk, cant hear and later cant see from the blackout screen functions for about 1-2 months, i finally bought a new handphone. Quite like it except i couldnt transfer file from my computer to the phone! The software provided din work properly on my computer. Damn. I went to try at my workplace and it worked perfectly well. Argh.....

Anyway, on thurday, my second last day of work, our boss actually treated us to a Japanese restaurant at Shaw there. My second treat from her so far... Haha. And each set was not cheap. Almost $20 after taxes, but it was simply oishii desu.. Ha. And yesterday was the last day of work for Yvonne, Elaine and Me. Got a treat from Calvin too but it was Burger King. Haha....

My ECC collegues. My boss not inside though.. haha

All these were long overdued.....

....::::....

On friday night, 8 July, went to Yvonne's 21st birthday at Aloha Loyang. I went with all the collegues after work. Only reached there at around 8.30pm. By then, not much food was left.... Ah... hungry.. So we patiently waited for the cake cutting time. Haha.

In the mean time, chatted with Junyi and Shuling. They were my primary school classmates whom i havent met since 1996. Zhipeng was there too, but he was busy talking with his other friends. Ha, but good to see them again after so long. There are in NUS Arts and SS. So gotta see them next time too since engineering is just next to arts.
From left: Junyi, Yvonne, Shuling. Then me and Zhipeng behind.

And my collegues from ECC. By the way, the theme of the party was 'Red, Blue, White'. Well, most of us have white and blue. Red is hidden. Haha.

So after eating the cake, we left the place as it was too late already. The rest still had to work the next day. And the good Calvin sent everyone home. Haha..

....::::....

The next day, 9 July, we had our first Group 6 outing. First, we had lunch at Genki Sushi in the posh-looking Marina Square. It was to celebrate Xiujun's and Julyn's 21st birthday...Their birthdays are just 1 day apart. Later, we had 2 games of bowling. Ha... Didnt bowl for quite long already. Then, Julyn left shortly to prepare for her party at night.

After bowling, we had 2 hours of pool. The girls were good man. They actually thrashed the guys for a few games. Haha.. ok, i admit i wasnt that good in pool. Later, a few seniors met us and we left Marina Square to go to Julyn's birthday party.

The food at her party was good. Ha.. Or maybe cuz i was too hungry and i took quite a lot... The guys with the pretty birthday girl, Julyn. And of cuz, with the Best Group, Group 6...We were the largest group in her party. Haha.. Her party was quite interesting. There were poppers, and candles on the floor, leading to her birthday cake. Ahh, her boyfriend seemed to have done a lot for her.

Our birthday gift for her was twenty-one items, packed nicely in a box...And there were Erotic Dices, G-strings, cap, some toys etc. Quite cool. Later, we did a cheer there. Okay, we were too loud. Haha...

....::::....

On sunday, 10 July, went to Toa Payoh Central to 'support' Simon's camp charity project. If Keith din go, i wouldnt have gone. Haha.. Yes, Keith was in Singapore. So went to meet him as well. Besides, i lived in Toa Payoh, no excuse not to go. Haha. In the end, he being too nice, wanted to support Simon. I got no choice but to share with him. Haha... Okay, it's for charity. This candle cost $3.50! Okay, it's for charity...And Keith bought a scent pouch for $3.50 too... Later, Alan came and bought a scented bookmark. Oh my.. we warned him already.. Haha. Okay, it's for charity....

....::::....

Went to airport on Wednesday night, 13 July to send Lawrence, my good brother from NS, off to Australia to study. Quite dissappointed that others were not free to go. So i was there alone.... First time i saw his family whom he was always so secretive about last time during NS... Anyway, gave him a book as a farewell gift and wished him all the best.

....::::....

Went to NUS Yusoff Ishak House on thursday night for an interview to become part of Funkamania XII's committee member. Kinda nervous at first, but one of the interviewer was Linghuey, our group 6's councillor and the interview was more like asking which position we want and why. She is the Project Director for this project. Wah, big siah. Jinghan and Xiujun also went.

But if we got selected, should be in different groups. They will go into Programmes while me in Publicity... This week will know the outcome of the selection. So wait then...

I've promised to blog about my CAC camp and so here it is. However, i din receive all the photos but i've been dragging too long.. so i shall continue without much pictures...

The Cultural Activities Camp (CAC), Nkiruka '05, was an exciting, fun but tiring 5 days 4 nights camp. Before the camp, we had a pre-meeting cum briefing at Cafe Cartel, Plaza Singapura. There were 7 guys and 7 girls in our group. Din really talk much with all the group members but later had some games at the Istana park. Oh well, the unlucky me got forfeited and had to dance tango with Linghuey, our group councillor. Embarassing indeed. Ha.

~+~+~+~

Day 1

Went together with simon in his car and we were late. Learned some cheers before we embarked on our first activity - Internal Hunt.

In Internal Hunt, we had to go to various places in NUS and play games in each station. There were 6 different stations. The first station was to bite a biscuit stick in between each pair and the polo sweet on the biscuit must not drop while moving through a few obstacles. And we were just starting to get warmed up... heh heh.

Second station required all 14 of us to form a chain and had to weave through 16 numbered boxes on the floor.

So the first person gotta step on 1, then move to 2 while the next one will step into 1. And this continued till all the 14 people are in the squeezy squares and moved out one by one without breaking the chain. Quite interesting. Later, to get more bonus point, we........
performed the Monkey-Gorilla-Chimpanzee dance. It was hilarious indeed.

In another station, each pair had different things to do. For me, it was to transport water bags using legs...After receiving water bags from the lower level, we need to pass to the top level where simon and yanting were. Their job - the best - was to burst the bags using their backs. Ha.. it was damn funny....Junhao and Zhaowei looked so sweet... Haha. Their job was to move from one end to another with a stick in their mouth.

Next station, we had to pass wet sponge from one pair to another using body parts only. We gotta picked a body part and lucky me, i got knee to butt and in second round, neck to shoulder... Oh poor Jenny... But the most funny pair would be.... Junhao and Wanshi's foot to head. Lucky no one in our group got nose to armpit.. haha.

Next station was jumping through the hopscotch with a balloon in between each pair. Then did a charade for the rest to guess before bursting the balloon...

In another station, we had three missions to complete. First, to form a line with whatever things we had.... and we were the longest among all six groups! Second mission was to form 3D objects...and this was supposed to be a car. Yah, Aimei was the roof.. and then we had..a helicopter. Well, it was not the final one u saw here and Aimei was the propeller this time.

Last mission was a bit funny. We were lying alternately on each other stomach and the guys had to take off their clothes. Hmmm, i wondered what was the purpose for that...then being the first one, I shouted 'HA' once. The next one shouted 'HA HA HA' and the next one 'HA HA HA HA HA'. Yah, in increment of 2 each time and we restarted a few times as long as someone made mistakes. But it was so funny saying those 'HA HA HA...', it was hard to complete. Ha Ha..

Evening time, Secret Pal (SP) session. At first i thought it would be similar to those in JC, like writing letters and receiving letters etc. But i didnt know it was so like a real 'blind date'. First, the girls and guys were separated. Each given a nickname and our SP nick. I was 'Aragorn' and my SP was 'Arwen'. Everyone were blindfolded. Yes, how special it was. Then i was brought to Arwen and we started talking when we couldnt see each other.. Felt quite insecure cuz i would never know how many councillors were around us eavesdropping. Haha.. Then at one point, it was 'Feeding french fries' time. Yah, we still couldnt see. It was funny. The chatting blindly session lasted about 20 minutes but it seemed like eternity...

Then we embarked on our next activity - Mysterious Journey... It was so called because we were blindfolded throughout the whole journey for more than 4 hours..... and walked from stations to stations... going uphill.....and obstacles and played our first game.... Extinguish-the-fire-in-the-small-red-bucket. Well, supposedly there was fire in the bucket and everyone were lying round the bucket and we had to throw water bombs into the bucket using our leg...just like a catalpult. It was hard to aim and everyone would kena some misfired bombs... It was just the beginning.... Next up, it was Jack-and-Rose-at-the-sinking-Titanic...That was Julyn pulling herself up the goo-laid slope. After her turn, was me...Total grossed out. Anyway, see those red buckets... those were...buckets of goo made from starch. The councillors were so happily mixing them and everywhere we went, they would slap us with tons of 'mucus' on us... Back to the game, when we were on top, we had to act out the scene in Titanic....Erm... ok, i know i was hugging the tree a little bit too tight, but i was so tired.. haha... next stop, the The Noah's Ark where each pair was assigned an animal and we had to search for our partner by making out the sound. Lucky, my animal was frog. There was one pair who got peacock and the guy shouted 'pea' while the girl shouted 'cock'. It was so funny... haha. And after we found our partner, we were brought to a place where we had to eat banana. We gotta bite at each end and the banana got shorter and shorter and shorter....I must admit my lips touched hers a bit at one moment.. haha. So paiseh.... but compared to Wanshi and Wenyong....whom lips were like sticking with each others from the photo...and Jinghan and Aimei...who looked so passionate... haha.. Next, The-witch's-concoction. We had to pass marshmallow using mouth only and also to pass long massages from one to another.. The cleanest game for the night. Next, Search-for-items-in-the-filthy-tank...For my turn, Jinghan, Aimei and I went into the tank with so many rubbish. And we gotta search for a tiny comb. But the water in the tank washed us up a little.. haha. And finally, the last station was The-gigantic-slide. It was the most fun and exciting game for the night. Yah, our job was just to slide down this goo-layered slope into a pool of more goo. It was fun.

And after the slide, our fun-filled day had finally ended. Time? 2.45am. After washing up back at Eusoff Hall and writing the SP's postcard, i finally slept at 4am..
~+~+~+~

Day 2

The day kicked off with a series of Telematches at the Sports and Recreation Centre. But still, we had to move from basketball court to track to field to court again and to another court. Ha. There were 6 different games also.

Captain ball using tomatoes and apples which in the end got smashed up to bits that were so hard to continue anymore, the game was stopped. We won anyway. Haha.

Chain of chairs in which everyone stood on the chairs and we gotta move the last chair to the front and all the way till end point. Along the way, gotta collect water bombs from the floor and used them to hit our opponents' 3 balloons tied to their ankles. We lost, we werent fast enough...

Tarzan, Jane, Chimpanzee was like 'scissors-paper-stone' and the winners moved along a row of chairs until we reached the opponents' sides. Losers gotta restart. And we lost again... badly.

Table soccer was playing soccer like those you see in arcades. I was the goal-keeper.. Haha. Quite boring at my side and our group won with 3-1. Ah... so u know why...

Grab-the-black-cloth from a pair of opponents' back and our ankles were tied together... Quite a rough game when it was free-for-all time.. we lost again.. oh well..

War game was quite an interesting game. This time, all 6 groups had their own base comprising of 2 chairs, 2 candles and a string between the chairs. Each group had a few people defending the string from being burned while the rest carried lit candles and tried to attack other teams' base, to burn their strings. It was quite hard cuz once our candle was blown by any opponents, we needed to light it again either at the base or from our team-mates. Meanwhile, we couldnt do anything, supposedly.. haha.... Our group's string was quickly burned, thanks to the incompetent base protector which i dont want to say who... LOL..

After lunch it was Pool Games time and everyone changed into their swimming gears... There were 6 games too and 1 grand finale...

Starting with Let's-Play-Majong. This was quite interesting.. We had to find the tiles from underwater to form certain winning combination as specificed by the station i/c...
And it was the first time i heard this bai wan fu weng combination. It was to get 14 tiles of wan and must add up to 100. The ultimate combination. Haha.. And to get more bonus point, we....did the Monkey-Gorilla-Chimpanzee again in the water version. Haha.. Quite dumb. Next, was Passing-Water-Using-Cup-in-Mouth...It was not easy to aim accurately. Next, we had this game where half of our group in water, throwing bottle caps and ping pong balls to the other half outside water, using plates to catch...And our opponents acted as defenders to block us out... Next, we had Water Charade...We gotta act out while underwater and passed to the next one. The last person would guess. It was so funny at this station for our team. We couldnt stop laughing. Mainly because we cheated. Haha.. Imagine the sixth(last) person guessed the answer 'Teletubbies' correctly when he was only shown a clue of drawing a rectangle at the stomach area. Haha.. the station i/c couldnt believe us either... Next, we had Captain's ball in the pool..And yes, we won. Last game was Guess-Guess-Guess. Some trivia questions about NUS as well as qian bian wen ti. We almost got all the questions correctly... haha. And the grand finale was to doll up our model, Junhao, using items we got from opposite side of the pool and swam across... haha. All groups competed together and all models gotta dance. It was so funny.... But we din win. Ha...

Later at evening, it was SP time again. During our chat, my SP told me she got got taurus phobia and looking for guys of 1.8m. And before that, she already knew im a taurus and only 1.75m. I felt a bit stunned and hurt.

Thankfully, the session was only about 15 minutes and next up, we had Fright Night... At first I thought, 'Ah, must be something similar to a ghost house and we need to walk through the house and getting scared along the way and that's all.' I was quite impressed how much effort the councillors had prepared for this....

First, we waited quite long and took a lift at the Design and Environment Faculty there. The lift was decorated with drooping trash bags from the ceiling and made it so spooky. When the lift reached level 4, it opened. We heard people talked loudly outside. We lifted the black curtain and saw a medium and a guy. I must say at this point, i was so amazed how the councillor acting as medium was so bravo. She splited herself to like 6 different characters. The guy was asking her about his past, why his family had all died except him. We were standing around them to watch..

Later, after the guy told us to help him solve the mystery why he didnt died, the lift opened again. We were told to go back in. And to some of the girls' shock, there was a female ghost, wearing white standing at a corner. Quite spooky. Some screamed when the ghost grabbed hold of Julyn's arm while we were going down.

Ha, i thought, this was so interesting and i was quite looking forward to the ghost house. But, i was wrong. There were six different places we had to go and not just 1 ghost house. Ah...

And first stop, i was paired up with Yiling and turn by turn, each pair would go up a staircase. Since this was our first station, we dun really know what we are supposed to do and go. We were just instructed to go all the way up and so we did. At the top, an injured man lay there, chained up. He told us to get a key from the rotting dead man at the bottom for him. And so i carefully searched the dead man's hand for the key but couldnt find. He jumped up suddenly and Yiling screamed. Expected. They were shouting about we shouldnt save him.. and told us to leave. So we went down to the second floor and saw Junhao and Wanshi i think. They were talking to another ghost. Hmm.. i was confused. We were instructed to go out to the rooftop....

And from far, we saw a red lady sitting at the edge of the building. She turned around, waved at us and jumped down. Oh my.. the scene was so real and movie-worthy. I was so impressed. Later, back to where Junhao and Wanshi was just now, we were told to go into a dark toilet to help the male ghost get his teddy bear from a female ghost. Yiling had to go in alone. She refused and i persuaded and comforted her. Funny that even the male ghost agreed with me when i told Yiling to quickly go in and take the bear and leave, or else we just gotta stay here very long. And so she went in, screamed a little and we quickly left. The end of station 1.

Ahh... then i knew what to expect at every station already. Second station I was partnered with Aimei. She wasnt scared at all. So we walked through the building, along the way with some ghosts and our mission was to pray to a dead woman lying in a coffin and offered jocksticks to her. Then Aimei gotta put a necklace round her. Ha.. i was trying to control my laughter when Aimei said sorry to her cuz she had a hard time lifting her head to put the necklace in. And we left shortly. Nothing much.

Third station was really spooky. I paired up with Zhaowei and we went into this pitch-dark, dilapidated toilet. Before entering, we could hear baby crying. So we entered and i saw a ghost in white cheongsam standing in one of the cubicles. We skipped that and went further in. I knew there was somebody hiding there but couldnt see, so we went to that cubicle again. The ghost came out, carrying her crying baby. She asked me if i was Ah-Seng. I told her im not. Our mission was to get her the pacifier from one of the basin. So we slowly walked there and suddenly, an old lady appeared in green light a distance behind us. Later, that female ghost asked us to get a milk bottle from her granny. A bit of struggling with granny before she gave us the bottle. Later, I was supposedly to feed the baby, but i couldnt stuff the milk bottle into the fake baby's mouth. Then the granny came out, snatched the baby and flushed it down the toilet bowl. The ghost was devastated and asked us to save her baby. Well, we could only watch their 'performance' and did nothing much. I was still holding the milk bottle when we were asked by a black figure who appeared suddenly. Ha.. and we stepped out of the toilet and at the door, i showed them the milk bottle in my hand. Then one of them quickly snatched it from me. Haha.. it was funny.

Fourth station was a construction site, a tunnel. As we walked along, a ghost was crawling behind us and grabbed Yanting's leg. Ha.. she screamed so loudly. Later, a box was suddenly thrown in front of us. She screamed again. Our mission was to search for a ring in a dead worker's pockets. I searched for very long and couldnt find. The ghost who asked us to help him was trying to hint me by pointing at that particular pocket, but i couldnt find. In the end, the ring was found buried in sands in the dead worker's pocket. So we left and along the way, a ghost suddenly threw her head on the floor. Yanting screamed again. And we exited the place shortly after that shock..

Fifth station required us to find a watch and red cloth for a freak. She, actually he was talking to us and Wanshi was trying to be funny with him. Ha.. i was keeping quiet beside her, listening cuz their conversation was indeed funny. And we left taking a lift down. Of cuz, in the place, there were a few ghosts trying to scare us, but we were quite calm.. haha.

Last station was my favourite actually. It all happened at a rooftop somewhere. Yanting and I was the first pair to go. So we carefully climbed up to the rooftop and Yanting didnt want to continue. Later, a female ghost appeared and beckoned us to follow her. Then she threw a ball down a passage way and we gotta pick it. So we walked down and i saw a hole, big enough to hide someone in there. I was prepared for it but as i walked past, nothing happened. I thought, i was thinking too much. So i passed that hole, picked the ball and walked back. Then someone grabbed my ankle from that hole. Yanting screamed. Ha... sure, i got a shock suddenly cuz i thought no one was in there. Later, a ghost wearing school uniform asked us to find her exams script. We were led to a place which required us to enter a small door and there were pillars and beams in there. Of cuz, we were at the rooftop. In there, I walked the left side first, then i saw a black figure there. Ha.. then i changed direction and walked the right side instead. That ghost must be dissappointed. Haha.. I saw the exam script on the floor, i wanted to pick it, but Yanting was pulling me away. A bit struggling with her when suddenly a doll dropped from above. Lucky, Yanting was pulling me or else i would have been hit. I was reaching the exams script and i saw the ghost approaching. Yanting pulled me away again before i could get. The ghost backed up a bit too. Funny. When i finally got the script, the ghost just said something, but i couldnt hear cuz Yanting's scream was too loud. So we left the place and handed the script to the girl. The end of the station.

And so finally when our group had finished all 6 stations, it was like 3am+. There was a grand finale still, and we needed to wait for all the groups to finish. We waited and slept. And so when all the group arrived, we were blindfolded and led to a place. Everyone stood in rows. And till now, im still not too sure what exactly was the grand finale. Perhaps they were just taking pictures while we were blindfolded. When we left the place, all the ghosts revealed themselves and shook hands with us. They had great make-up and costumes.

And i appreciated their effort. Imagine wearing the makeup for 7hours and had to act at least 36 times at each station for all of us. Nonetheless, great end to the fright night but was so tiring. Time? 4.50am. Slept at 5.45am.
~+~+~+~

Day 3

Sleeping less than 2 hours, we started the day with The Amazing Food(Foot) Race. It was superbly awesomely thrillingly fun... Along the way, we needed to solve clues to find the places to go or food to eat.
We started off from NUS to Bugis Junction. From there we moved to:

1. Bugis street to buy a food from a certain stall but it didnt open. Changed to some drinks.

2. Fu Lu Shou Centre to find shops' unit number where they have items as shown on the given pictures.
3. The Food Centre nearby to eat Papaya Fungal Dessert.

4. Scuplture Square near Nayang Academic of Fine Arts to find passerby to take photo with each pair of us and pose. I teamed up with Jenny and must say we managed to take with 6 or 7 people. Our group total was 31. Impressive.

5. Somewhere near Selegie to eat tau huay. Ha, we managed to rest a bit.

6. Centrepoint to ask male passerbys to put on lipsticks and kiss on paper. This was interesting but not easy. Got to persuade hard and Im sure we did make a big scene over there. Haha. We only managed to get 13 kisses. Then, to get more bonus point, we were asked to perform a scene from Guang Liang's song, Di Yi Chi. So the girls stayed at the centrepoint side while the guys went across the road. From opposite we shouted 'Wo ai ni!' And the girls replied, 'Wo ting bu dao. Ni ai shui?'. We shouted back together with the name of one of our councillors. Haha.. A lot of people were looking at us then. Embarrassing.

7. At Wheellock Place, we needed to ask people to weigh on the spot and helped us get a combine weight of 1200kg. We managed to get 1201kg. Lucky. And again, for the third time, we did the Monkey-Gorilla-Chimpanzee dance. Real embarassing with so many people around.

8. At Takashimaya, we needed to find the prices of 8 items from the shops at basement 2. I teamed up with Yanting and we managed to got 2. First was some sweets which we spent quite some time looking for it. It was found in Watson. Second item was Ansell Bareback. Well, we didnt know what it was until we found it in Guardian Pharmacy. When we asked one of the sales assistant(an middle-aged woman) there, she thought for a while and led us to the shelf. She gave us a funny, cheeky grin while pointing at Ansell Bareback and i realised the item was a pack of condoms! Oh my... Well, no choice, i took the pack of condoms and confirmed its name and checked the price. Lucky, we didnt need to buy it. Haha... Had our lunch here and by then, it was 3pm already. We got to finish the race by 6pm and we still have 6 more places to go. Linghuey, our councillor was concerned and asked us to rush if possible.

9. A fast walk got us to Killiney where we ate durian chee cheong fun.

10. A quicker speed to Funan where we ate Taco's Bell Bean Burito

11. Citylink's Breadtalk to ate a specific type of bread.

12. We ran to the library at Esplanade next where we need to find 10 words from 10 different books. And these words would form a sentence. We only managed to find 5 words but still guessed the sentence correctly. Bravo.

13. Ran to the underpass at Citylink where we always see people break-dancing away. There, we needed to get the whole group to skip...It was not easy because one person would go into the revolving rope each time till all 14 people. Then, our mission was completed only when all 14 people were inside and managed to jump together once successfully. Took quite some time. We left 45 minutes to 6pm.

14. Ran to Suntec City's Sky Garden where we needed to find 6 hidden small papers of clue... We searched high and low for the last clue which later was found at one of the stone chair blocked by some extras sitting there. Im sure they were paiseh about it. And the 6 clues brought us to our final station. We left 20 minutes.

15. A lightning speed walk to our last station - Bugis Junction's fountain. There, we found our station I/C missing. We panicked cuz we only left 10 minutes. We called them and then our mission was to find them with the clues 'the place with 9 squares for Pepsi'. We split into 3 groups to find. Our group went straight up to the cinemas. Bingo. They were there. The rest joined us shortly.

Time when we complete the race? 5.58pm. Yes, impressively just 2 minutes to 6pm...We did a cheer there... Haha. I must applaud the girls' strength to keep up with the incredible speed we had for the last 3 hours. Everyone was tired and sweating. Later, we gotta know that we were the only group to finish the entire race. Ha. We took more than 7hours though.

Later at night, SP session again. This time, we gotta choose one body part to see. Well, she chose to look at my teeth + lips while i chose ears. Ha.. dunno why i chose ears also. The councillors took picture of the specific body parts using handphone and showed us while covering us with trash bag. Yes, no chance of peeping. Then, one councillor asked me to answer, "What is her favourite fruit?" Apparently I got 3 tries wrong and the punishment was to hold her hands for the rest of our conversation time. The answer was 'Chocolate'! DUH?! We didnt talk much actually, but we sang. I sang Guang Liang's Tong Hua first then she sang Fish Leong's Yong Qi. Later, we sand a duet, Wu Ding and cuz she din know how to sing the female part, i sang it. Ha.. sounded quite nice.. =)

After that, we had to practise our dance to be performed the next day at Chinablack bash. We only started at around 12am and from scratch. Took some time to choose our music and create our dance moves. It was hard to choreograph. When we finished creating and practising, it was 5.15pm. Everyone were so damn tired but we couldnt stop because we had no other time to practise already.
~+~+~+~

Day 4

Woke up at 6.45am to get ready for a day of fun at Sentosa.

Other groups woke up much earlier to have breakfast at dining hall. But for us, our kind councillors helped us prepare breakfast to be eaten on the bus to Sentosa. Hence, we managed to sleep a little more. Actually, not a lot considering we slept at like 5.30am..

The day at Sentosa beach started with us looking like zombies. But as we moved on with the games, we got more energetic. Haha.. Played a lot of games and got plenty of sunburned.

Hello-kitty-Pikachu-Teletubbies, a guessing game like scissor-paper-stone and the losers got splash with water and later, rolled in sand. We lost and got both treatments. Haha.

Turtle, Turtle, Jump where we could not lift up the same limbs as our opponents. Lost badly. Sigh..

Obstacle game where the girls would find ping pong balls buried in sand first. Then crossed the limbo rock with their partners. Then the girl hold a hula-hoop for the guy have to jump through. Then the guy carried the girl to the net where we crawled under. Next, the girl gotta go to the second floor of the watchtower and drop a water bomb to the guy below to catch. Lastly the entire group had to hold strings attached to a stick and write the words 'Sentosa' on the sand. We lost to our opponent again. Not fast enough.

Moving-along-Chain where everyone formed a chain using arms in water and turn by turn, one would move along the chain to reach the finishing point. We lost again.

Touch rugby for the guys only. The sands were so hot that our feet got so red after that. We won by the way. Haha.
Frisbees for the girls only. The girls lost.

Volleyball in water and we used the guys' t-shirts as nets to catch and throw waterbombs, tomatoes and grapes and not real ball used. It was fun.

Throwing-waterbombs-into-baskets onto our group members who were on merry-go-round. Our opponents cheated at first because they were standing so close to the merry-go-round. They got in lots of waterbombs into the baskets which were on those people's back. Then we followed suit by standing where they stood. Cheapo.

Water-bottle-fighting game in the water where the girls holding full water bottle would sit on the guys' shoulder and it was a one on one game. The girls needed to get the opponents' water bottle empty. It was not easy as balance was important also. Ha, I had a bit of struggling at first cuz I was kneeling while Wanshi climbed onto me. She was trying to balance herself and the sands were making my knees so painful. The waves came in and covered me for a few moments. I couldnt take it and so Wanshi came down. Yes, my knees were quite painful. Then second try and this time, i didnt kneel. So quickly, i managed to stand with her on my shoulder.. Haha..

400seconds-No-NG was an interesting game. Every pair had different missions to complete. There couldnt be anything wrong or else we gotta restart. My mission was the last one and simple. I just sat there and everyone would rub soap onto me till the soap finished. I had a thorough clean-up plus exfoliating scrub with the mixture of sands and soap! Excruciating pain. Haha. But our opponent team finished the soap first though we started first. I knew they cheated cuz we could see bits of soap among the sands. Well, we were considered lost despite protest.

Build sandcastle was the finale game where all groups would participate at the same time. First we would make as many water bombs as possible before building. When time was up, we would use the waterbombs to attack other groups' sandcastle. Everyone were like in frenzy. We had protectors who practically covered our sandcastle with their bodies. I was the attacker. Waterbombs were seen flying around. And it seems many people didnt aim at the sandcastles but at other people. Got hit a few times but it was so fun attacking others too. Haha.. Well, we didnt really win despite we put more sand on top during the bombing session.

And after the games, we left Sentosa at around 3pm and went back to NUS.

It was time to reveal who our SP were. But first, we would change into our clubbing wear. Ha.. then the guys would waited at the porch while the girls of each group would cramp into one of the rooms together with many councillors. All the guys whose SP were from the same group were grouped together. Then we were brought to outside the girls room..

Feeling nervous, one by one, the guys entered the packed room while blindfolded. I was with Jinghan cuz our SP were from group 5. We hate the waiting moment cuz we were so nervous about what we would be asked to do inside the room. I was the second last guy to enter the room...

Once inside the room, i was asked to perform something to impress the my SP. I tried to sing without knowing lyrics well. Ha. But cuz i sang before during the second night's SP session, i couldnt sing the same song which i know well. In the end, after much thoughts, i sang Jay's An Jing. It sounded horrible because I was so nervous. It was my first time I sang so openly and i dunno how many people were listening because i was blindfolded. Later, i needed to guess my SP from her voice. I listened to 5 different voices. I guessed correctly at first try though. Ha, im good.

Then, we exchanged gifts, took photos like a star because there were 4 cameras and left the room to the dining hall. After a while we boarded a bus to go to Chinablack for our bash. On the bus, then i gotta know the reason why we didnt talk much on the second and third night's SP session. On second night, she told me she was so tired she fell asleep a few times when blindfolded. That's why she didnt respond me and was slow. On the third night, she told me she could see through her blindfold. She didnt want to talk much because she could see the number of councillors around us. And her favourite fruit was watermelon. I actually got it correct on my second guess. Poor me. Got cheated.

Reached Chinablack at around 7pm and we were treated with buffet inside. Jinghan and his SP, Ruoxuan sat together with me and my SP. The buffet was quite okay. Had a few wierd moments with my SP. Think got some communication problems. One classic question she asked, "Why you speak Chinese at home?" I replied, "Because my parents cannot speak English." Okay, i know it was so DUH. Jinghan felt funny too as he was listening to our conversation while Ruoxuan went away..

Later, we had our dance competition. My SP's group won while our group supposedly got second. Oh well. And that concluded our bash for the night at around 9pm. Our group didnt want to stay at Chinablack, so we decided to go KTV at Partyworld.

However, Jenny drank 4 glasses of alchol and she got high and drunk. Along the way, she was laughing and talking nonsense. So many people were looking at her. We spent quite some time on her before reaching Partyworld at around 1045pm. We were given the VIP room cuz we had like 20+ people and that room was real huge. Our KTV session lasted from 11pm to 3am. By 12am, at least half of the people were sleeping already despite the loud music. By 1am, I couldnt take it and slept. Waking up occasionally by the loud music. Only 2 or 3 people managed to stay awake throughout... Impressive.

Went back to NUS and slept at 4am+.

Day 5

Time to pack and leave Eusoff Hall.... But before that..Picture of the freshies...Pictures of our great councillors. Not all of them here though... and finally...NAMJI, Group 6 of CAC Freshman Orientation camp.

Back at Yusoff Ishak House, we wrote testimonials and wishes on everyone's personal piece of paper. And also prize giving time. We won first prize of the Internal Hunt. Prize was a hamper of goodies. Pity, we were only second for the Amazing Food Race. But well, seems like all groups had won prizes. And also, for the highest honour prize, we were awarded the BEST GROUP, the seventh time for group 6 in ten years. And we received an even bigger hamper.

So proud to be in group 6, the best group ever.. Group 6 rocks. CAC rocks too.
