castaway day 2

Today happens to be our 'Castaway' day 2. For those wondering what it means, it stands for "Compact Administrative Services (Temp Staff) Away" Day. Haha. We just gather after work for dinner or a movie, to reward ourselves a little. Went to catch 'The Mist'. I thought it was a horror movie or something, like what Aloysius like to 'jio' me watch in the past, but this time it was better. I thought the show was quite good, if not for the ending. I would still recommend it to you guys to watch, however don't scold me for the ending. 2 more days and Michelle and Lynn will be leaving us. Well, although it has been a short span of time, but without them, I guess life working won't be as fun. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours, studies for Michelle, and work for Lynn. And I will try to rush the payroll for you guys. Haha. Wondering why am I doing so many unusual stuff? Anyway, on the way back home, I saw Jun Yang, Wei Lung and Norman. ...

Gossip blog

Was out with S3A the whole day. Haha. Met for lunch at Crystal Jade Kitchen and shopping afterwards. It was a day of walking the whole of Orchard Road. There has been a lot of revamps at Orchard road. They are erecting a new building in between Wisma Atria and the MRT Station. Saw some pretty clothes that I am considering, although I haven't decide on any New Year clothes yet. Next week I shall head down to Bugis to try my luck with Wei Yen. I think I should go for the oldies outlook, suits me more. Rather than I trying to act punky and funky. Haha. Although I have not write up my new year resolutions, I do have a want-to-buy list. Haha. They aren't necessities, but I would really love to have them. Haha. Maybe I should turn all of them into my resolutions. A Saxophone is one of them. Yeah. I saw a few familar faces today in town. Junelle, Hui Min and Cher Siang were a few I saw at Suntec City. Its nice to see them still so close to each other. And I saw Jeremy and Eric too. Ha...

Eventful Saturday

Image
Its has been an eventful week, although nothing much really happened. Haha. Work is still the same, but Lynn and Michelle are leaving us already, so it will be less fun during lunchtime. But at least the 3 other buddies are still around. I am on course next week, to learn to use another accounting program, Great Plains. Haha. This is making me feel more like an accountant in everyway. With MYOB and Great Plains knowledge, I bet Wei Yen would have an advantage having me as his hotel mate. Went to Tampines early in the morning to join Aloysius gang to play soccer. I rarely play with outsiders, but I am dying to kick around, so I went to play. Anyway, its good that I get to play better players, gives me the chance to improve. I think I will go and play again, as I am not getting regular first team action from my own soccer pals. Haha. Of course they will be the priority when I have to choose between the 2 groups. Anyway, Alvyn and I dropped by Peninsula Plaza in search of our team jersey....

reappearance

I am given more responsibility in work each day I appear in office. Due to the lack of manpower, I have to cover more and more aspects of the payable side. Its fine with me, just that I am afraid of making mistakes. Its millions of dollars we are talking here. And I doubt I would be extending my service to June. I really gave it a good thought. I know Compact's side needs manpower and re-teaching a new person waste precious time. But I am more interested in my childcare job, and would really to pursue the career of my interest. Accountancy is interesting, but very tedious. If I really stay, I would really hope for a pay increment. Anyway, there has been a re-appearance of Chun Ji in my life. I don't really know why, but the other 3 guys surrounding me tend to mention his name occasionally. I heard he is going to NTU too. Maybe its destined I will meet him again, soon enough.

Vicious cycle

Kelvin Low and I was chatting on our way back yesterday from basketball. When suddenly, the "Deal or No Deal" commercial popped up on TV Mobile. Then I asked whether if its a sure win, since whoever appears on the programme already gets to choose one box, and the minimum one can get is one dollar, provided you are that unlucky. I was thinking what are the prerequisites for appearing on the show. It seems like most of the participants are above average, in terms of standard of living and qualification. Somewhat it puts you in a illusion that, its a plot to make the rich get richer. Haha. In retrospect, I think back about myself sometimes, wondering whether am I trapped in a vicious cycle, pinned down by hopes and expectations of others, yet eager to break out of that hold and create my individual space and character. Being in a pragmatic society that we are in, results are of utmost importance to outsiders, and those painstaking efforts that one put in would normally lie overs...

NYJC

Went back to NYJC early in the morning to play basketball with the usual gang of people. Sadly, to say, only 5 of us turned up. Its a low turnout though, but I ain't really surprised. There are ongoing talks of planning this and organising that, which I think require a lot of commitment from the participants themselves. No matter how detailed the organiser planned, if the participants doesn't have the heart to get involved, then things won't get to work. Anyway, S3A people, if you are reading this, we are suggesting to go Zoo this coming Sunday. So if any interested party, please highlight to John. Haha . The college didn't change much, like what I thought it had. The old shell decorations were still there outside LT4, and so did the names of the canteen stalls; uniquely funny. Haha . Brings back old memories when you trod down the hallway and gallery. It's been a meaningful 2 years in NYJC . Coming to life in Junior College, one told me before, that JC should be ...

Finally

Finally, my Internet connection is up and running again. The main reason was due to the fact that Singnet was trying to upgrade some system of the 'MIO' package, hence shocking my circuit. But it took them rather long to get it up though. I bet they didn't realised till I called them. Work's been tough lately. Learning accountancy in 2 weeks is no joke, but I would say it is a enriching experience to be learning so many skills in such a short span of time. I am normally quite exhausted when I reach home. With no Internet, basically I am living on my own for the past 2 weeks. Haha. Aloysius and I went to meet up with the TCC Colleagues for our farewell dinner. Its nice seeing everyone back together again. Too bad my course commander couldn't make it. Although it was the same old people, same old jokes, we were more than happy just to re-live it, well, that is my army story. Supposed to go for Jay's concert tonight, but I gave up my ticket. I fell sick anyway. Hah...

at work

Its been quite a while since I have blogged. Haha. My internet connection is still down and waiting for Saturday to come by. Hopefully, the Singnet technical assistance is able to offer some help. I have been missing the chance to have dinner with John. Haha. Always 'flop' due to some unforseen circumstances. Work's been fine I guess, with no accounting background I doubt I will be given some major things to handle. Haha. But at least I am helping them setting up the whole system in the new office. Haha. Its a form of mixed feeling I tell you, whether life after ORD is better or vice versa. Give my internet back, quick! Dying at home on weekends. When you least expects it, it has the highest possibility of appearing; that's why its called a surprise.

internet down

My internet is currently down. So you guys won't be able to find me online. Wait till I fixed it. Sms me then.

lonely sunday, yet again.

I am trying my best ever not to get caught by Aloysius online, cause that will mean that I am at home ALONE . Haha. Actually, although both of us are working at the same place, we don't really get to see each other, as I am undergoing training at another place lately. Even though of the noises that he makes, the nuisance he is, the "smart-alec-think-he-knows-everything-and-feels-that-he-looks-freakingly-many-times-younger-than-me" attitude that he potrays, I still have no choice but to admit that he was once a great and beneficial part in my life. The keyword is 'was'. So I am trying to get rid of him now. Haha. Everyone's busy. Really. School's re-opening, guys started working and the NSFs returned to their duty posts. After a long holiday break, its kind of hard to find the drive to start work so quick. Alex just came back from Guard Duty, Khong Chin out with Shu Hui, Alvyn at Church and Wei Yen at work. Surprisingly, after I found work, I still seemed t...

Saturday loner

Image
Wanted to spend the whole of today at home. But apparently, one message came and I was out. 2 other loners hidden somewhere on the other side of an island are nearly bored to death and all of a sudden, we decided to catch a movie and there I was at Tampines Mall with that 2 loners. Went to catch the M18 show 'American Gangster'. I was almost late and missed the show. In restrospect on the 2 other occasions where I meet Aloysius for movies, I was nearly late. I think must be the problem in the venue. Tampines is a out-of-the-world place for me to travel to. Haha. Bus 72 takes up more than 30 mins travelling but if I take Bus 88 to Pasir Ris, I have to transfer train to Tampines. Anyway, the show is quite nice I would say. The plot is quite good, and its a relatively long show, and rather value for money. Of course, there's a bit of nudity, like what Aloysius said my aim of watching the show was. But nowadays, almost every blockbuster film include some sexual scenes or skimp...

Band gathering.

Tonight the J2 band members met up for dinner after not seeing each other for so long. Haha. Especially rare faces like Ruth and Hui Shan, it was quite a happy reunion. Its my third day of work, and I would say I am rather happy there. I met a new friend, Lynn, who is very good to me, and we can relate well to each other. Haha. Don't get the wrong idea, she's way past my age. But she is the warmest person around, asking me to go lunch and all. Haha. Makes her look like a heartening flame in a icy battle zone. Well, its another one day at Deloitte's before I head back to Compact for training. Seriously speaking, being an accountant is a tedious job. Must be super meticulous with numbers and well-versed in calculating, not forgetting being professional. Haha. And every minute counts. So its admiration for them. Anyway, back to the dinner. We went to Sushi Tei and squeezed ourselves into a 10 person room when we have 12 persons. Haha. I would say the food is not bad, but consi...

Assistant Accountant

Just got home from first day at work. Its quite tough at the workplace, as I am like starting from scratch to learn everything. Maybe I should have gotten an easier administrative job, like data entry or receptionist. But I am going to take this assistant accountant job as a challenge. Closing accounts, validating invoices, tabulating payment vouchers all seemed so foreign to me. Haha. But I bet I will learn something after this 3 months on the job. Luckily, Aloysius and Wei Chuan are there to lighten up the mood during lunchtime, not forgetting a new girl I know, Michelle too. At least I know there are people my age there. Hope to meet up with Chris and Sam tomorrow, while the J2 Band people on friday. Its been a long while since I saw all of them. I need a best friend who is an accountant now. Haha. Falling sick already. Must be those celebrations. I don't even have time to draw up my New Year resolution. Haha.

Realisation

I finally understood what happened. It wasn't that I didn't stand a chance, it was just that there was no chance at all. Too far, too away. Be it literally or not.

New Year

Happy New Year people! I have the luxury of spending the last moments of 2007 with my good friends from secondary school and Junior College. I went to meet up with Alvyn, Alex and Khong Chin for lunch as we embrace ourselves for the New Year. Haha. We did nothing much actually, but carry out our routine surveillance of Hougang Mall before we settle down at a place to eat. Actually, we can't decide what to eat, that's the point. 2008 is going to be a test of our friendship, where many of us will be separated into different commitments. Khong Chin will be at the hype of his Navy career so I expect him to sail often, while Alvyn is pursuing his studies overseas and Alex is going NUS. Only left me and Wei Yen going to NTU. Haha. But I am not that worried about it though, just take things in their stride. After which, caught up with S3A for the movie 'I am Legend'. Haha. Seriously, it isn't as nice as the name sounds, but I won't spoil it for you people who want to w...
