This.... Is.... MADNESS!!!!!

I woke up at 9.30am in the morning, eagerly anticipating how Michael Phelps will make history at his Mens 100m Butterfly Final event at 10:10am just now... Along with him are Ian Crocker from USA (current WR holder) and Milorad Cavic from Serbia.

Phelps had a great start as he hit the waters but the first 50m was painstakingly hard to watch as he was in 7th position (yes 7 out of 8) at the 50m split, with Cavic leading about nearly half a body's length away from Phelps. Even at the 25m mark, Cavic was still leading, though Phelps pushed hard, inching closer.

Even at the 2m mark, Phelps was STILL BEHIND Cavic, in second place, it was hard to determine who touched the wall first until the results poured in.

Results

And just like that, Michael Phelps, won his 7th gold, winning by a hundredth of a second (0.01s) as he swerved his arms above the water to touch the wall. Great tactics together with a close shave.

He will be participating in the Men's 4 x 100m Medley Relay Final tomorrow at 10:58am running for his final gold medal to beat Spitzer's record, making history in the Olympics.
