Last day!

Hohoho today was my last day! I've been bumming around in office the entire day because I handed my tasks over ytd. So ya, time was passing really slowly.

I bought a box of Royce chocolates for my dept and then we had some cheesy phototaking session.

I had to help them do branding even before I leave!

Speaking Standard English?

2 more days till I end work. Yipee!

COMEX starts tmr till Sunday, go get your hoots now!

I've been looking at phones recently. Wanna get a good WAP enabled phone, which makes think that I should consider getting a QWERTY keypad phone.

1. Nokia e71
Pros: LONG battery life, nice QWERTY keypad, looks slick
Cons: Symbian OS. Oh the horror!

2. HTC Touch Pro
Pros: High processing spd and RAM. Cool 5 rows of keyboard and most of all, gorgeous
Cons: It's very thick, and expensive!

3. Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
Pros: Slide out QWERTY keypad, same quick processing spd as HTC Touch Pro
Cons: Not sold in SG yet, pricey, many complaints

4. Samsung Omnia
Pros: Powerful applications such as 5 M.P camera, quick, huge internal memory
Cons: Pure touch screen, though with QWERTY on screen keyboard, some major complaints such as being unresponsive, buggy etc.

Return of the FUGLY Stinkaporeans 2

Ok the event has ended. I just woke up, muscle aching. Was too tired to blog last night. Last night was almost as terrible and the rain dragged on. Thankfully it lightened a little just before the event officially commenced.

There was one major issue I had last night though. Just before the event commenced, we set up the barricades at the entrances to prevent outsiders from coming in. As I was walking away from the gate, my colleague walkie-d me saying that there's an Indian man with a child who sneaked in without a ticket, so he wanted me to stop him.

So I went to the Indian man, fairly elderly and I kindly asked him to show me his ticket. But he refused and said the tickets were with his wife, who was already within the compounds. So naturally I had to chase him out, because it seemed like a big fat lie. He kept saying that the event started already, how to get his wife to pass him the tickets? So I told him my colleague saw him sneaking past the barricades which got him more aggressive. As he tried to step forward, I side-stepped to stop him.

That's where things got worse....

He threatened to hit me if I didn't get out of the way. I warned him that if he did so, I could call the police, who were stationed all around the compounds. So he dared me to call them which I did, telling them that he entered without a ticket and was creating a nuisance. Just as the policemen were walking towards him, he slowly moved off, though not completely. FUCKER

What happened to your fucking balls? Did they just drop off? Huh? Carrying a baby still act like a big shot, if you genuinely had a ticket you didn't have to react in such a manner. I don't mind waiting for your wife to come down to show me the tickets. But no you had to act like a fucked up adult like every other FUGLY SINGAPOREANS. I got so heated up that even I wanted to punch him in the face. I wish he tried to punch me, then I can react in self defense and own his old wrinkled ass.

Seriously, what fucked up Singaporeans.

Return of the FUCKING UGLY Stinkaporeans

Worked half day today. Yiquan's supposed last day today, so our bosses treated us to Waraku for lunch. It wasn't exactly fun but we stole a laugh at all the taichi that was being played. Kinda hilarious but I honestly pity the people who they bad mouthed about.

I went to work for an event today for my IAP company and this was where I saw fugly Stinkaporeans yet again. It was written on the website clearly in the T&Cs section saying that even an infant requires a ticket. But many fugly Stinkaporeans brought kids along, thinking that they can get free entry, but due to strict regulations, we were told over and over again to only allow the number of ppl in according to the number of valid tickets they present.

Then they went on to "Oh I didn't know. If I knew I would have bought. Not that I got no money to buy. But I didn't know. Can you make an exception?"

This was considered well mannered ALREADY. Some left and I even saw a kind father sacrificing his seat to let his son enjoy the show. Like WTF your kid is how many months old nia? But I respected the father for doing so, because they didn't kick up a fuss.

The problem came in during peak hour, just before the event commenced so the number of people pouring in was quite a handful, not to mention the increasing number of unruly fugly Stinkaporeans who complained over and over again. Despite showing them the clause on the ticket and telling them kindly that we're totally sold out and we have to follow the rules, they refused to believe that we cannot make an exception.

But little did they question themselves. Who the fuck are you that we can make exception to? The rule is applied to everyone, though not a law, but a rule. You broke the rule, don't come whining to me about it. One father commented that it's because we don't have a family of our own, that's why we don't understand. Fuck you I understand compassion more than you do. And I saw a dad sacrificing his seat for his son, why can't you stfu and do the same since you have so much balls to holler at me.

Despite 20mins of furious and agonising reasoning with the family, they refused to leave. Unfortunately we ultimately made a call to let them in, though the decision wasn't made easily. We consulted a few people before we did what we did. We weren't proud of it, after 20mins of reasoning, we wanted to go all the way. But we thought that it was for the better good and made this the only exception.

Little did I know that an intern from my IAP coy secretly allowed others to go through and I questioned her, merely asking her if someone had authorised her to do so. But she got offended, seeing that I was merely a part-timer, she asked me who I was to ask her such a question? She didn't need to answer to me.

Ok fair enough. So I said 2 persons in-charge of me (whose rank is definitely higher than her), told me to follow strict rules not to let ANYONE through based on such cases so how can she overwrite that authority? She said "I know you work here last time before, but I don't have to answer to you. We only let exceptions when it comes to difficult people. XXX told me it was allowed."

So there you have it! XXX authorised you to do so right? The question was fairly simple, I just needed to know who I can look for if I needed to do some explaining. The event was really following extremely strict regulations and if someone found out, then I need to explain right? Don't bullshit to me saying that she doesn't need to tell me anything. I thought for her behalf. If my in-charge were to ask me who gave the authority, I didn't want to say it's her, cuz she's an intern. Someone above must have given her an order one right? So I asked, little did I know it turned out to be an issue.

During peak hours, many such families were stopped and we tried to handle them. Some claiming that our websites and hotlines TOLD them that children under the age of 3 had free admission. We showed them some of our printed materials taken from the site itself but they wanted more. They wanted to speak to the mgt. 1 of my in-charge spoke to them, but they wanted more proof that we did not state the clause.

HELLO! If you wanted to prove that you saw it, then shouldn't you show it to us instead? So many ppl paid for the bloody tickets, why can't you? People with hand carried childs also bought tickets from us, do you mean that they did not see the same things you saw? If this were indeed true than ALL families with infants can go through, but yet majority still paid for the tickets.

But these people were obsessed in being right. One old man, a grandfather, even shouted and screamed, his daughter/daughter-in-law trying to cool him down whilst carrying her child. The old man was shouting "你们很过分。政府要我们生孩子,现在让一个小孩进去都不可以"

I'm sorry to inform you that government also encourages to improve social grace. You're not showing any and you're acting like a spoilt old man. But the number of families facing similar issues united and jumped onto the bandwagon, insisting that they wanted to see the mgt again. So we got 2 other guys down and we still stood by to our policy, until the families (probably abt 7-9 of them), began to talk/scream/yell all at the same time. Unfortunately, we let them in, because they were disrupting the traffic flow and they were being rude and unruly. Despite having security guards at hand, we thought it might be better to appease the crowd.

But frankly. Fuck off. If you din read the T&C then its your fault. Try suing then. You accepted to buy those tickets on account of the T&C, you never read, your dai ji, according to the law, once you accept the T&C and made the purchase, you have consented to it already. Dun bullshit and say didn't see, or saw imaginary words. Ugly Stinkaporeans

One family of 6 wanted to come in WITHOUT ANY tickets. Not even 1. She insisted that she didn't know you needed to pay to enter. Like WTF. You thought events no cost one ah? Then you use aircon 24/7 dun pay PUB and say "Oh I didn't know!", see if it works.

She let her kids run through the gates and said "OH! My children inside there already. Make an exception for me please?"

FUGLY. Chased her out after 10mins.

Fucked up. It's times like these when I ask myself abt the identity of Stinkaporeans. F1 in Sept, I see how it goes. Youth Olympics, I see how it goes. Probably will end up like China putting up billboards and notices up for their citizens. A list of "Don't Dos".

Fucking turds lurking on the streets everywhere. It's not like we don't want them to enter. It makes life easier for us. We're just doing our job, no ticket, no entry. Simple. If we make an exception, it's like opening a can of worms.

Dwindling Singaporeans, Up on Imports

Majority of the polls don't mind relocating to other countries to retire.

I agree whole heartedly.

"While I welcome foreigners to work here, representing the Singaporean identity on my behalf is quite another matter."

"What happens when Li Jia Wei, Feng Tian Wei and Wang Yue Gu retire? Do we hire more to replace them, and where does it end?"

I can't agree any further than this

Silver Medal

And so we lay defeated by the hands of the Chinese....

Who am I kidding? LOL

Ok so we lost. No big deal, except the fact that we won't get a darn public holiday. It was quite a beating the girls took, they barely won more than 1 game set for each match. Was quite a walk-over despite a good attempt.

And so we landed with a Silver Medal, with our flag risen, after 48 years of medal-less drought. We've finally brought a medal home.

Can you imagine Phelps lugging home 8 Gold Medals?
Gold plated with real jade? Holy...

Phelped!

Phelp me!

I have teh Orlumpig fever. But no seriously, I'm running a fever.

Woke up early to catch the Men's 4 x 100m Medley Relay Final. It was a shocker NOT to see Michael Phelp's name on the start list yesterday night. But thankfully, it was probably the guys who swam for the semi-finals.

This morning, the line up was:

1. PEIRSOL Aaron
2. HANSEN Brendan
3. PHELPS Michael
4. LEZAK Jason

Abit of a shocker to see Phelps swim for the butterfly discipline because of the near upset yesterday with a 0.01s victory. But thankfully, the Australians got Phelped as he pulled half a body's distance as he hit the wall.

Lezak brought the gold medal home as everyone rejoiced for the Greatest Olympian of all time in breaking another WR of securing 8 Gold Medals making Olympic history.

Results

And now, 8 more hours till the final showdown of our women's Table Tennis Finals vs China

Also, the National Day Rally speech, the English version, will be postponed to tomorrow 8pm on Ch5. Great decision!

Pathetic attempt

As usual I went to watch the Olympic highlights at 11pm on Channel 5 with Mark Richmond and Jade Seah. First thing they talked about was none other that the Table Tennis finals tomorrow at 7.30pm which will be showing live on Ch5. Nothing special about that.

Then they went on to comment that there was controversy on local forums about the table tennis players not being local, despite having Singapore citizenship. Ok fine I get that, it has much controversy but yet without these people, we might not even see a medal after 48 years of medal-less drought. But then Mark Richmond brought up examples that Singapore isn't the only one which uses foreign talents to represent them.

He mentioned a Portugal runner who was born in Nigeria, a French badminton player who was Chinese, a Croatian table tennis player who was also chinese. And this was.... deemed to be a trend? It seemed like a pathetic attempt to try telling Singaporeans not to be so shallow and look at the win as an honour for the country.

And at the end, Jade Seah made a comment saying that she considers the table tennis team to be true Singaporeas... before she looked away from the camera.

Now EDMVV all posting comments about what both Mark and Jade had said on the show. Sure kenna flame like mad.

This.... Is.... MADNESS!!!!!

I woke up at 9.30am in the morning, eagerly anticipating how Michael Phelps will make history at his Mens 100m Butterfly Final event at 10:10am just now... Along with him are Ian Crocker from USA (current WR holder) and Milorad Cavic from Serbia.

Phelps had a great start as he hit the waters but the first 50m was painstakingly hard to watch as he was in 7th position (yes 7 out of 8) at the 50m split, with Cavic leading about nearly half a body's length away from Phelps. Even at the 25m mark, Cavic was still leading, though Phelps pushed hard, inching closer.

Even at the 2m mark, Phelps was STILL BEHIND Cavic, in second place, it was hard to determine who touched the wall first until the results poured in.

Results

And just like that, Michael Phelps, won his 7th gold, winning by a hundredth of a second (0.01s) as he swerved his arms above the water to touch the wall. Great tactics together with a close shave.

He will be participating in the Men's 4 x 100m Medley Relay Final tomorrow at 10:58am running for his final gold medal to beat Spitzer's record, making history in the Olympics.

Singapore Guarantees a Medal in 2008 Beijing Olympics!

It was an extremely exhilarating afternoon as viewers locked their eyes and secured a comfortable seat to watch the Women's Table Tennis Semi Finals between Singapore and S.Korea. While others like myself were at work, the Olympic results website gave livescores which gave instant updates on the scores.

All talk was on whether Singapore could finally end the 48 years of medal-less drought which seemed to never end as the Women's Table Tennis team came in 4th position in the last 2 Olympics which were a major upset. Today's match would most likely be the best shot to end that dreadful streak after Tao Li's major upset in the swimming finals though many were banking that Singapore would hit a hat-trick, and leave the Olympics without a medal yet again.

Posts were pouring to a thread at EDMVV as it soared to almost 200 pages by the end of the Semi Finals. Li Jia Wei's singles match was a major upset as she lost 2-3 to S.Korea's Kim Kyung Ah.

Fortunately for me, the EDMVVers posted a picture of LJW's defeat:

The semi finals seemed endless as the players hit ties after ties and Singapore was near victorious as we led 2-1 games. Unfortunately we lost our 3rd singles and it was up to Feng Tianwei, the first and last single's player from Singapore, to wrap things up.

The battle got heated as it hit 2:1 game sets, Singapore with a meager lead. Yet during the 4th set, the fight became really intense as neither players wanted to let go of any points. YH told me the empire executed an expedite and decided that the players were to be given 10 mins as a deathmatch finale.

And by fluke (with some skill), Feng Tianwei brought it home for Singapore to guarantee a medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I remember looking at the livescores intently at 6:05pm, hoping that the match would speed up so that I could go home. My colleagues and I gave a sigh of relief as we saw the scores jump and ended. Despite LJW's best efforts, the spotlight was definitely shining on her for the wrong reasons. I'm sure this will hit all over the headlines in news tomorrow, so do watch out for it.

As i finally finish with Table Tennis, here comes the Phelps phenomenon. Michael Phelps has hit the spotlight on the papers recently and is said to be the greatest Olympian yet. I could not agree further, as he broke so many World Records in this Olympics and is striving to break the Spitzer's record. Phelps participated in the Men's 200m Individual Medley Final at 10:50am today:

A stunning 2.29s lead ahead

Afterwhich, Phelps swam in the Men's 100m Butterfly Semifinal 2 merely 40mins later, only to come tops again. You can't help but wonder what he'll do in his best form tomorrow at 10:10am in the final leg of the race. Phelps has hit 6 out of the targeted 8 gold medals, which was 6 out of 14 Gold medals won by USA!

Federer, the former world number 1 in Tennis; one of the most talked about and probably one of THE best tennis players of all time, came to a crashing defeat by James Blake of the USA. After losing his world number 1 title to Rafael Nadal, he was determined to change his fate in the Olympics, but luck wasn't too kind on him. The William sisters also suffered defeats in their singles matches.

What an exciting Olympics 2008.

Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay: USA

How I wish I could stay at home all day just to watch the Olympics! Olympics has been a bad time for the 1988 Dragon babies. PSLE and O lvls during the 2000 and 2004 Olympics. What a bummer.

I caught a reply of the swimming finals of the 4 x 100m freestyle relay. It was incredibly jaw dropping! Phelps seem to be off form this Olympics, he cannot achieve the 8 Gold medals which was his target. Nonetheless this relay was so incredibly exciting as 5 teams were ahead of the World Record when their second swimmer were in place.

France, USA, and Australia were neck in neck as the Frenchmen and the Americans pulled ahead, French leading the way by probably less than a body's length. While the Americans struggled to push ahead, so did the Frenchmen, way ahead of the existing world record.

As the final swimmer plunged into the waters, it was apparent that only the Americans and the Frenchmen were heading for the gold medal. Jason Lezak pulled himself with each stroke as he steadily caught up with the Frenchman. As they kicked off the wall at the 50m mark, the showdown intensified as the Frenchman frantically paddled with his arms.

Lezak pulled on, stroke by stroke as he caught up. It was barely 25meters till they arrive at the finishing mark and all eyes were on these 2 competitors, side by side as they both reached out for the wall....

USA, Gold. Breaking the World Record by 3.99s

Cullen Jones, Jason Lezak, Michael Phelps and Garrett Weber-Gale

Spectacular.

And on a side note, Tao Li was 5th in place for the 100m women's freestyle. What a waste. Ronald Susilo got hammered by Malaysia's Lee C W who "monkeyed" Susilo.

And lastly. I HATE iTUNES

Happy Olympics 2008 Beijing

I watched the opening ceremony and it was really grand. The anticipation built up over the past few months has been paid off. Since 7 years ago, China already clinched the deal for Olympics 2008. I still remember Deyi Band going there to perform for some ceremony. After the many long years, I wonder what China has in store for us. Needless to say, I think they'd probably win it all anyway.

Then the contingent marching took place, country by country, for probably 2 hours.... I waited nearly that long for Singapore to appear. And frankly, it wasn't surprising who was the flag bearer:

Don't ask me why... But yea... It's her.

There's this dude whose name is on the papers day after day after day.

Michael Phelps shall reign king
woot

And on another note.. Did anyone buy the 8M Toto big draw for today? Because I was one of the losers who did. I told a friend of mine that if there are 8 winners for this draw, it's probably rigged. And you know what?:

How can that be?? I don't know. What a COINCIDENCE.

Anyway this month will be jammed packed with so many things. The 7th Month Getais, the Olympics 2008, the uncertain petrol prices and the volatile stock market.

And on another another note. Here's my new nifty gadget

I've yet to play around with it though, because I'm rearranging all my songs. What a tedious job. Probably leave that to tomorrow.

Monday

It's a tiring Monday, for I barely slept at all. My brain's turned to mush while I continue to drone on with endless work and politics. I'm not taking it too well, a little wound up with the added fatigue and mental tiredness from floating thoughts.

Perhaps my fatigue has reached it's prime, and perhaps that's why I always finish in second place in a never ending race.

I will never catch up. I will never conquer. I will never be able to claim my prize... My prize.

I fall back
Taking some slack
Realising the foolishness of defying something that will always be black.

But I lack
With a simple fact
That I probably cannot honour our pact.

I wish I had the knack
Perhaps with some tact
To win all the others, on the same track.

But as I lay now, on the deck
Playing music off the CD rack
Or maybe I should just hit the sack
