ok, i got infected by a trojan on msn ytd called Captain Mnemo. It's a trojan that steals passwords and auto spams to ur msn list of contacts saying "rofl @ u http://improfile.net/members.php?msn=(your email)@hotmail.com" u click it, save it, thinking that it wouldnt harm u as long as u dont open it

WRONG. thats what i thought. but i failed to realise it was an MS DOS application which auto runs once u've 'saved' it to ur computer. it runs, and starts spamming everyone else on msn with the same message. do not try opening it as i have =(

1. Do a thorough virus scan. if it doesnt detect anything at all, try online scans like Housecall Trend Micro/ Panda Software. it might be slow, but it's effective
2. Install antispyware/adware if you have not already. one good example would be SuperAntiSpyware which has a free edition. extremely effective because it detects alot of malware which other antispywares cant.

Do the required scans and reboot your computer. run the scans if required again, then open ur msn and check. btw, fyi, this trojan only affects messenger live. if you're affected but u need to use msn? then use windows messenger. if you still can't get rid of it, go google, many forums with advice although some are extreme. thus, do the 2 steps i've mentioned first before trying anything else funny.
