Shanghai Maglev Train, China








The Shanghai Maglev Train or Shanghai Transrapid  is the first commercially operated high-speed magnetic levitation line in the world and only the third Maglev line to be operated. The train line was designed to connect Shanghai Pudong International Airport and the outskirts of central Pudong where passengers could interchange to the Shanghai Metro to continue their trip to the city center.

Shanghai Maglev Train, China


The Shanghai Maglev Train is a magnetic levitation train, or maglev line that operates in Shanghai, China. It is the first commercially operated high speed magnetic levitation line in the world. The train line was designed to connect Shanghai Pudong International Air Port and the outskirts of central Pudong where passengers could interchange to the Shanghai Metro. Construction of the line began in 1 March 2001 and public commercial service commenced on 1 January 2004. The top operational commercial speed of this train is 431 km/h making it the world's fastest train in regular commercial services.

Old Beijing Qianmen Train Station, China.


This is a picture of the station in 1930. The station was opened in 1906. At the time of its opening it was the biggest train station in China, but in 1958 it was closed down, already dwarfed by the demand of a "new China". This station was replaced by the Beijing Train Station, which is still in use today.

Beijing West Railway Station, China.


Opened in January 1996, this is one of the largest modern railway stations in the whole of Asia. The main part of the station occupies a total area of 500,000 sq meters, containing 15 floors above the ground and 2 floors underground.The main building, 102 meters high, is of pseudo - classic style of the ancient capital and unique features of modern China. It is one of the grandest constructions in Beijing.

Ya Lu River Railway Bridge, China - North Korea Border.

The bridge now known as the Ya Lu River Broken Bridge (Left) was built in 1911 connecting China and North Korea was used as a Railway Bridge until 1950. It was abandon in soon after it was bombed by the Americans.
