My Harley Stud and I have four very good friends that live right next door to us. We love them dearly and they love us. But sometimes life just gets so hectic that it becomes harder and harder to stay in touch with your friends even though you care for them deeply. We didn't realize how we'd been neglecting these friends until one day last week when we received note from them. It seems that since the holidays we just haven't taken the time to maintain that relationship that is so important to us. But our friends are not the type to be put off easily. They found the perfect way to give us just the nudge we needed to get back to our daily chats over the fence. This is the note we found in the mailbox:
Do you have a relationship that you've been neglecting? Take the time to call, send a note, shoot off an email or just drop in on a friend or relative with whom you've lost touch. Life is too short not to let your loved ones know how much you care. Daisy, Brownie, Hillary and Donkey reminded us of our neglect. I'm afraid we have other friends who aren't quite so bold. I'm going to make it my February resolution to make an effort to stay in touch with loved ones. Because as LiLu says, "New Years resolutions are for kitty cats." Well that wasn't a direct quote but you get the idea.
A brand new large package of carrots was purchased with the infamous Valentine cake and our daily chats have resumed.

I love them! I don't know why but goats just fascinate me. Too baaaaad I can't have one as a pet (lame, I know).
Awww, they are adorable! When we were kids, my grandfather bought us an alpine goat, whom we named Phoebe. She was awesome. As an alpine goat, she used to tiptoe around my grandfather's pink cadillac -- all the way around, on the 1/2" wide lip of the doors (in front of the windows). She liked to play king of the mountain with him, and my grandpa liked to kill her for it as he chased her around! He never could catch her.
Thanks for sparking such a great memory. Those naaaaybors of yours are just darling.
What a cute post and I love the pictures. I'm glad you're back in touch with those friendly neighbors.
So if I send you a nice note you'll buy me a large box of carrots.....uh er....I mean white zinfandel? You could throw in a nice jar of smoked almonds if you're feeling really generous. :) I forgot you were the goat whisperer. *wink*
What a great post and great naaaybors!
They're so freaking cute. Thank you for sharing.
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
cute neighbors!!
Great post! And a great reminder about keeping in touch and dropping a line to the people in our lives that we love but don't get a lot of time to see...thanks for making me laugh tonight!
Have a good night goat whisperer!
I'm in love with goats and would adore having at least one... we have the land, but this neighborhood does not allow what they deem to be 'farm' animals. One day I plan to live where I can do whatever the heck I darn please... and that's a fact.

Is there anything cuter then a baby goat? I love to look at them..but used to get butted by the one we had as a child..so..oh..and roosters, it used to chase me and yet I have them all over the house. How come I don't have goats all over the house? Hmmmm...wondering here.
Gee. Wish I had a goat. Wish I had a REAL life rooster too! Oh well...
We should all have neighbors like that!
Hugs,
Mona
wow I bet you get free milk and cheese, too. My naaaybors are whiny kids and a crazy Chinaman. Really gets my goat.
Tell them they can help themselves to your greens anytime they like! I'm sure it's heating up down there and the grass is gonna start growing like... well, weeds.
Cute kid! ;) I've been neglecting important friendships myself this year in the blogophere, but I'm back, even though I don't have any carrots.
What a lovely post and what a great message! I often have the feeling that I am neglecting my friends and relatives. I feel sorry when a day has passed, while I had the intension to ring, write or visit some one and didn't do it.
Thanks for the hint.
Beth-Me too. Never worry about being too corny with me. I'm as corny as they come.
Liar-The "girls" would love to have a cadillac on which to play Queen of the hill but instead they settle for a couple of logs in the yard.
BV-Me too. We really enjoy them.
MLS-Be looking for your box-0-wine in the mail from the goat whisperer.
Debra-They have been a source of great entertainment and sometimes stress relief.
Movie-You're welcome. Having them next door is great because we can enjoy them but don't have to take care of them.
Kathy-Thaaaaaaaaaaaanks.
Smiles-Thanks and I hope you had a good night too.
BRG- I didn't realize you live in a restricted community. Your place looks so rural. I hope you can get a goat one day too.
Mona-You and me, girl. Goats and roosters. We must be soul sisters.
Croneandbearit-Too funny about your neighbors. Oops, sorry. There's no milk and cheese going on over there as far as I know. :-(
Snow-It's pretty cold er...uh...cool here today. But they still escape into our yard every now and then to clean us up.
Goodfather-It's so good to see you back. You were missed!
RW-It's hard to stay on top of but oh so worth it!
Ahhh, I kinda figured you were talking about your goaty neighbors. They are so cute.
I'm with MLS - if I send you a note, can I have a bottle of red zinfandel? The smoked almonds sound good, too.
Those are some sexy goats :)
Hey have you spoken to Nanny Goats in panties about this? She is the queen of all goat posts...
Did I? Yes I did just write that....
What a great post and you are so very right.
But I also want to make a plug for letting old friendships go and making new ones. I practically begged a friend to get together with me. Extended invitations for coffee, for dessert. Offered to meet at the pool while her daughter had swim lessons. Always declined. I gave up and decided that this person either didn't have time for me or didn't want to be friends.
So I invited my neighbor for coffee. We hit it off. In fact, we're getting together again this weekend and hopefully will continue to do so. Yay for new friends.
And can I pitch for Bloggy friends too? YAY for bloggy friends!
How cute! And yes, I have some relationships I need to spend a little more time on. Unfortunately, mine can really talk:)
What a wonderful and gentle way to be reminded - those are some wooooonderfulll friends...baaaaaa!
It's always worthwhile to maintain friendship and this post was a good reminder of why it's so important. Love the goats!
Awww- thanks for the love! You are so right... and I know exactly who I need to call when I'm walking home from work today. Thanks for the 'nudge'!
I love that you said "new years resolutions are for kitty cats" - that is THE BEST!!!
:-)
Wow, you should book those goats on Letterman. Goats that write notes. Genius.
Jan-One box-o-wine w/a side of almonds coming up.
Braja-Yes, Margaret is acquainted with my nanny goats next door.
Fancy-Snaps for you. You are right about letting go sometimes and making new friends and bloggy friends too.
Debbie-Thanks and I think we can all use this reminder sometimes.
MsMVNJ-They really are great fun.
Geri-It's something I have to remind myself of often.
LiLu-You're welcome and thank you.
Erin-Well......*wink*
Binks-It is quite a talent, I agree. I'll make the call.
I love them. Really.
