Anybody have any pro's or con's either on an open blog or a private one. I'm trying to make a decision about what I should do so I'd love any input. Thanks!
Hi! Well, I've thought about that a lot too. The reason I'm staying public is because my inlaws don't have a blog account and therefore wouldn't be able to see my blog if I made it private. I have lots of friends and family (haha other than you guys) that also don't have accounts. I do kind of wish I could make it private because someone can just google your name and see your blog...can't have everything I guess haha :)
I understand the reasons for going private...but here's why I think it's best to be public. 1. old friends can randomly find you and it's a lot of fun to re-connect 2.people w/o blogs can view yours (like fam) and 3. (MOST IMP. to ME)- GOOGLE READER (which saves my life w/ time reading blogs) only allows you to register public blogs. So my friends that are private , I have a harder time following because I have to remember to go click their name on my page instead of it just coming up automatically on google reader every time they update. Hope that makes sense and helps. :)
I love my page being private so people who I don't want to see any thing can't. People I want to see my page I can invite them with there email and they can check my page out. There are pros and cons to it and I'm glad I'm private. It is hard for friends to look for your page and not be able to find it. At the same time to me my family pictures are safe being on private.
I thought about going private a while ago, and have not yet because I want to get in touch with people. I am very careful about what I put on my blog (names, places, ect). It is such a hard call, but so far I like being private. I love looking at other peoples and if everyone went private, I would be out of the loop again.
I have mixed feeling about being private. I think it's great if you are worried about the safety of your kids, I know that it's a pain to look at private blogs and so I only look at my friend's blogs every few weeks or so since they don't update in bloglines. I have met so many new friends and caught up with old ones since I've been blogging, and that wouldn't have happened if I would have been private. So it's hard to know what to do.
hey erin I found your page off of Jill Merrils page. I don't know you but I went to school with McKay. and I just had to say hi. and that you are one lucky girl because McKay Womack was one of the nicest kids I had ever known.
Hi Erin! I'm glad you found my blog! Its great to hear from you. (and speaking of your question... I wouldn't have been able to hear from you if everyone was private!) Anyways, you've got a beautiful family!! Congrats on the new little one!
Just be careful. Public is ok. With as many blogs out there as there are it's pretty rare that anything really crazy happens. I mean it happens, but the ratio is huge. Just don't post really personal info.
Hi Erin...I was blog stalking, which you can't do to private blogs..hee hee...and I thought I would say hello!! We are private, and I had a hard time making the decision also. I am really using my blog as a journal for the most part, and so I do mention some personal information so for me private was the best way to go. You can invite people to view your blog, and they can look even if they don't have a google account, they just have to view it as a visitor. My sister in laws' blog is not private, and she got some really wierd chinese guy making some wierd comments that were really long! So, pros and cons..anyway, if you would like an invite you our blog...email me @ mdbelnap1215@yahoo.com! And, if you do decide to go private...I would love to be able to continue to stalk you once in a while!!!
Yea. I'm so glad I found your blog, Womacks! Now I can see EVERYTHING YOUR DOING, hahahaha! (unless you go private and don't invite me, which you may just do after this comment) I can't believe you have 3 boys! So cute. It's fun to see what you're up to. I'll definitely be checking up on you. Miss you! Oh, and check out our blog if you want. campbellfamlee.blogspot.com
Hi Erin, I would still like to get our families together if you want too. I've looked for your e-mail and maybe I just missed it but, would love to see your cute family. Our E-mail is clcloveless@hotmail.com I would give you our phone number but, I really don't want everyone to have it. And to comment on your question. We thought about going private but, then we just figured that if we didn't put anything private on it that it wouldn't be a big deal. Hope to hear from you soon. It would be way fun to hang out since we live in the same city now. Crystal
you know I've been thinking about going private as well and i've thought someone could just leave a comment on the rhs blog if they want to see my blog. I don't know though, it's fun to find people I know though!

I would list the same things as Natasha - those are all the reasons I stay public. But I have thought about going private quite a bit.
